Search Under Way As 3 Fall From Mt. Hood

Heck I thank the goddess for my food and thank the food including the lettuce for giving it's life force to sustain me. It's a big ol universe and I am but a speck. I better be humble. ;)

*shrugs* I always give God credit first, before man. It's not my fault Narla makes it a point to cause a problem each time I do, lol. I prayed and therefore wanted to give thanks. :)
It's true, you do.

I'm not causing a problem, I'm saying- credit where credit is due- you always leave everyone else out...like the rescue workers/doctors/whoever did nothing-

I do, too, DK. I would be willing to bet that those hikers were saying their prayers to God, too. :)

It's a good thing that they had mountain locator units with them. That really aided in their rescue. If the previous three who perished had taken MLU's with them, they may be alive today. So sad. I always say that it is better to be safe than sorry.
In 70mph winds and whiteouts I bet more than a few rescuers were praying as well, lol! That isn't a job I'd want, I don't think.

I leave MYSELF out when giving thanks for things done in my own life, why would I include anyone else in theirs? lol. :)

Hmmm, to me I read that he was thanking his God for helping the rescue workers find them. Since he does not believe that his God reached down with his bare hands and plucked them to safety (I don't think) I just assumed he was thanking his God for helping them. I see nothing wrong with that. Look I am a Pagan, I don't believe as DK does, but I respect him for HIS beliefs as long as he respects me for MINE. Just because I don't share his beliefs I am not going to jump on him and belittle him every time he does. And I don't have much respect for anyone who does.

I'm a firm believer in God helps those who help themselves. I see it as a team effort. However, if not for the grace of God, I would not be where I am today. :)

And DK thanked God, as is DK's wont. And Narla thanked the rescue teams, etc.

No problem, eh, nan? Nobody omitted.

:)

I myself would be thanking my lucky stars that I was found. ;) Seriously, it's a team effort, from both Heaven and Earth. :)

Did you think I was being snippy with you? I certainly didn't mean to be.

I'm sorry if my post was unclear.

Oh you must mean me.

It's not a case of belittlement Curious, I just wonder why noone else gets any credit and why we have to hear about it every time he prays.

It just worked out his post was one of the first ones I read and there he was again, giving God ALL the credit, I believe in God just like most everyone else, but in circumstances like these I don't think God has much to do with anything.
If your numbers up- your numbers up- no amount of praying is going to change that.
There are Angels of intervention and if anything, they are the ones you should be thanking.
But whatever, at least everyone is safe.

No, no way. I was just feeling like we needed to be whipped into shape and you were doing a good job of that....as always. Seriously, thanks for being the voice of reason many times. :)

I don't think we hear about it everytime he prays. His faith is just a huge part of his life. Eh, that doesn't bother me. We may not see eye to eye on everything, but I respect someone who doesn't just wear his or her religion/spirituality to church only on Sundays.

Thanks for the ETA. I still wasn't sure whether I had done something wrong.

Personally, I believe all events are a collaboration between the physical and the divine. So if DK wants to thank God, why not? And if Narla or somebody else wants to credit the rescue workers, who can object?

Just an FYI, some of the counties here in Oregon are considering dropped their search and rescue operations due to lack of funding. I know that Josephine County (where the Kims were lost) are almost definitely going to have to do this. Too many searches and not enough funds to keep them going. Climbers had better hope this doesn't happen in the county that Mt. Hood is located!

Hi Fundiva, <<wavy guy>> The mountain is within two counties, Clackamas and Hood River, so depending on where the rescue is needed, it falls to the county governing that area.

On Cascade Climbers one of the guys listed all the agencies that participate in these rescues. Currently involved in the efforts are PMR, AMR RAT, PJ's (304th), Crag Rats, Mt. Wave, CCSO, and Timberline. On for tomorrow are Eugene and Corvalis MRA teams.

So there are many teams, in fact there were 30 men at the rescue site when they made physical contact with these 3 people about 11:30 this morning. It will take them 5 - 7 to descend today, so they should be down the hill around 5:30 to 6pm tonight PST

I agree Nana, God gave man a brain and the will and desire to improve it. In doing so, man has developed all kinds of technology to further what he can do on earth. I think that's working together! :)

Well, whether it was answered prayer or not, I looked up to the sky when I took my dogs out in the yard and said a prayer for the people and the dog.
I was so worried today .........I am sure all us WSers were.
It must have been so cold, dark, windy and scarey.
At a time like this everyone gets thanked.......from the highest power......to the dog on four feet.
God, because he does answer many prayers.......the Angels.......The Saints......
Every worker, every person on the mountain.......every star in the sky.
It always like a miracle when something can go so, so, wrong.......and then.....thankfully it doesn't.
The dog........was a savior as he kept them warm.
Its great days like this......that we can celebrate life......people.......
honor ..........and the Almighty.
For other souls on the mountain have not been so fortunate.
It may have been their time.......Ones time is never known.
But.......today.......is a celebration of great news, and of mans humanity.
The World feels good.........

Sundayrain, You are so right! One's time is never known and that is why I do pray. Whether prayer and being positive does or doesn't work, I'm not giving up on it. Three people and their dog came off the mountain today, and that's enough to keep me praying and staying positive for the outcome of others, because I do not know their final hour.

Link with photos and articles from Oregon Live, for those who don't have it.

I'm real glad the three people and the dog were rescued, and even more glad that none of the SAR team members were injured or killed in the process. I think the SAR members are real heroes.

LOL! No, no plucking from the mountain literally. I am thankful there wasn't an avalanche during the rescue effort, thankfull the climbers remained alive, all of those intangibles. And yes, thanks to the rescuers, but as I said, I bet more than a few of them were praying for guidance and no disasters. :)
