Searching Central Windy Park?

 • #21
I live very close by, I wouldn't hesitate to take a look, just not sure why that park in particular?

I just remembered reading something about AH having lived in a house in Oviedo. Not sure if Casey ever visited that house, but that would make her more likely to at least be aware of parks in the Oviedo/Winter Springs area. I've often thought there are a few parks around here that would be really obscure and a seemingly unlikely place for LE to look. Sweetwater Park on Magnolia Street is one that comes to mind. It's out of the way, almost always deserted and absolutely covered in thick foliage under the nature walk.

Understand it isn't IN Sanford - only in the Sanford direction if you are talking to someone else in/from Orlando.

Amy stated that the first time she met Caylee was when Casey brought her to a barbeque @ her house in Oviedo.

If you "wouldn't hesitate to take a look", I'd really like to know how access to Central Winds is controlled. Gate? CCTV on the parking lots or gate? Admission? Pics of the nature trail & wooded area of the park along the Lake Jessup shoreline.

Actually gators eat dead things.........they will kill their prey then bury them for a few days until they start to rot before they eat them.

And I'll just add that even though I don't live in Florida, I know there are plenty of other scavengers that will eat anything - skunks, opossums, foxes, coyotes, vultures, etc. Add the heat and humidity plus insects, and unless she was buried very deeply it would be hard to find remains.

But if anyone searches any park this time of year, watch out for poisonous snakes!

Perhaps its not a new suggestion, but, I’d recommend a search of Central Windy Park, 1000 E. SR 434., on the West side of where 417 crosses Lake Jessup in Seminole County. Pay special attention to the wooded/marshy area along the bank of Lake Jessup that appears to have a basketball court, picnic shelters and a nature trail. Reported scratches on the trunk of the Pontiac perhaps were from backing into branches/brush for cover.

Casey's lone Facebook message to Lee – the one person she seems to best connect with reality - in a window of time when she would've been disposing of the body - makes this of high interest IMHO.

Further, in her contact with Mathew Crisp on July 7th, the same date she posts her, "Diary of Days" she is beginning her catharsis and she tells Mathew that Caylee is with a babysitter in Sanford. This is the first reference to Sanford connected to babysitting I have noted. Amy Huizenga noted stopping by a Longview address, which is also in the same area, on the date they returned from Puerto Rico, perhaps unrelated, but, supporting that Casey would be familiar with this area.

Excellent sleuthing! Great post.

Welcome to WS! :)

This is correct. This one keeps coming up but I posted a link a ways back in time that was the Florida state records for different time periods in regards to alligators killing humans. 8 of the cases noted the recovered were determined to have been dead prior to the alligator bite.

Dead flesh is definitely not a preference but it is not unheard of or uncommon.

Central Windy because:
Jun 23, 2008 12:40 AM here’s my question…is ‘the windy city’ an appropriate nickname for chicago? is it really THAT windy?i’ve always wondered.
It is my understanding that LA works for Gameday Management, Click and Park LLC - they manage parking arrangements for large events and they are/were handling the parking for Chicago Bears games, then he probably had been in Chicago for work. ...since Troy is from Chicago? And, there is fb dialogue on-going w/ Casey & Troy in this timeframe.

Only other trigger I could come up w/ for this message was if Casey was toying/floating the idea of hooking up w/ Troy.

Not much info on Troy that I've seen. Below the radar it seems. Visiting Orlando @ the time I assume, since Casey pings him about whether or not he's taking a cab 7/2. My thought was Troy maybe PR traveler #4, and Casey knew he needed to get to/from airport 7/2 since she appears to have been the airport jockey that day (w/ Amy's car) per connection of Casey w/ Amy's car @ the tatoo place. Interesting that tattoo parlor comment was that she was picking up traveler coming IN from PR. Maybe just a detail that wasn't recalled accurately?

Do any of you use Facebook or Myspace? It's kind of common to post off the cuff random comments to your friends - sort of "dry" humor, weird things here and there. I wouldn't assume it's code. JMO

Central Winds Park would be a good place to look. There is a wooded path behind the playground area that takes you down to the lake. There are tons of Alligators there.

Interesting about her saying something about "the windy city"

Is that where 417 crosses a Weatherly (don't know if this is the right word) and is there a Boggy Creek in that area?

If so, the police were there today with three cars, an unmarked and two CSI vans. The took some bags of something they dug up and had on their gloves. May be nothing......but you caught my attention when you had that about 417.

Actually Boggy Creek is out near the airport. Not sure about Weatherly.

Devorahhh

Yes, those scratches along the trunk as stated in the documents. I wish we knew if they were there before the disappearance or not. George seems so meticulous I'd think he would have put scratch cover up on them, or done an insurance claim depending on how bad they are. If they weren't there, Casey must have backed up into brush for cover. Hopefully someone can tell from the scratches what type of bush caused it.

I have a theory on where the scratches on the trunk may have come from. Most salvage yards have dogs that they turn loose in the yard at night for security. I think Cindy stated that they have no security cameras, so dogs make sense.

If Caylee's body was in the trunk at some point and there was decomp, which the test results say there was, then it is possible that the dogs smelled the decomp (would smell it even if a human could not) and scratched at the trunk of the car trying to get to it.

I can't prove any of this right now because there is not much info on the net about the wrecker service and their security but I plan to call or email them Tuesday (should be open then) and see if they use dogs.

I think there is a bar type gate before the parking lot. It is a really big park with a soccer field. The playground area is off to the side with a wooded/marshy area surrounding it and the lake. You can drive right up to the parking lot of the playground. I think I have some pics of it if I can find it. It is a pretty busy park from the times that I have been there. I have seen parks workers there on little ATVs cleaning and taking trash.

Yes, there is a bar type gate (waist level) that blocks off incoming traffic after dark. It can be walked around, but you can't get by in the car. There is no admittance fee and the entrance is unmanned. The basketball/playground area are very close to the nature trail that runs right along the lake. You really couldn't drive right up to the lake from there, though. I'm fairly certain there are no cameras in that area, maybe by the sports fields, but not over there.

There's also a dog park at Central Winds that backs up right to the lake. It's been a long time since I've been there but you might be able to drive right down to the lake from that path. I'd have to check it out. Kids woke up with colds this morning so I may not be able to get out there today. The lake level right now is really high now, too, I'd be unsure about walking through the trail right about now. I was born and raised in FL so alligators don't scare me, but I'm not too keen on meeting up with one on wet, slippery ground!

Does it have an auto-lift gate for exiting auto traffic that might be in the park after the park 'closes'. IOW...can I drive in, park out by the nature trail and wait until other people clear out, yet, still be able to leave when I want to?

Did anyone else notice this quote besides me? Do we have any idea why police were there today with three cars, an unmarked and two CSI vans????

The gates swing in from the right and left and lock in the middle, I believe by padlock. They just unlock them first thing in the morning and keep them open all day.

I apparently can't link you to the website, but there is audio on the "bdreams" site about this - CSI vans and removing evidence from this area.

The scratches were on the inside.
