Searching for Anna - #1

I found another Kukoda family living in PA that appears to be a different Kukoda family from our's. Here's an obituary from one of them:

Agnes E. (Kukoda) Gregory, 81, of Hellertown, died Monday, May 17, 2004, in the VNA Hospice at St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of the late Harry B. Gregory. Born Jan. 7, 1923, in Hellertown, she was a daughter of the late James and Agnes (Koczan) Kukoda. She worked for Durkee Famous Foods, Bethlehem, for 28 years. She was a member of St. Georges Episcopal Church, Hellertown. She was a Democratic committeewoman for 15 years. Survivors: Daughters, Ruth M., wife of William OToole of Emmaus, Janice E., wife of the Honorable Richard T. Fluck of Hellertown, Faye A., wife of John Roth of Coopersburg, Jo Anne, wife of Robert Hornyak of Hellertown, Lois J., wife of terry Hahn of Hellertown; brothers, Charles E. Kukoda of Bethlehem, Louis J. Kukoda of Paoli; sisters, Margaret Tapajcik of Hellertown, Helen Fekete of Bethlehem; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, William. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday in the church. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. On Ancestry.com, I found a sibling for Agnes in the 1910 Federal Census whose first name was Mary. Maybe her full name was Mary Margaret, which is why she never showed up on any of our previous searches for Margaret. OTOH, the info for Margaret supplied by MFAngel shows her middle initial to be "A". At any rate, I just wanted to be sure that our Margaret hadn't stolen someone else's identity.

Margaret was born Aug 1917. Remember she died on her 50th birthday.

Sherlock, I didn't forget when Margaret was born or when she died... I simply was trying to determine if our Margaret had stolen the identity of the Margaret that's been married for 61 years. They both were named Margaret Kukoda and they both would have been born in the same generation. I realize this was not a likely prospect but everything else connected with George Brody has been so strange that I felt the need to eliminate the possibility of identity theft. After all, we're pretty sure George Brody wasn't his real name, so it's not a stretch to consider it wasn't Margaret's real name either.

I just contacted a lady named Jessica Knox, a resident of Half Moon Bay and asked for her assistance in getting some media attention. Jessica's godson, Le'Zhan Williams was abducted here in Vallejo when he was 3 weeks old. His mom was just 17. She was shot & killed and the house she was in was set on fire.

6 years later, a tip came in to LE that the child was living 2 miles away from his real family.
Another teenage girl who had miscarried a child by Le'Zhan's father 5 weeks before the abduction was charged with murder & kidnapping. The story was big here in the SF Bay Area. Jessica Knox was on quite a few newscasts and talk shows. She is now an advocate for missing children.

I'm hoping our mutual connection to Vallejo and she and Anna's mom both being from Half Moon Bay will spark her interest. I asked that if she can't personally assist us to provide us with media resources.

I knew a "Knox" family in HMB (as did Annasbro and other brother). The greater HMB area during the 1970's only had about 25,000 people and the name Jessica sounds real familiar. We may know her.

As posted on "Possible Matches for Anna" thread, the adoptee that we were looking into a being Anna turned out to not be a match.

On the other front, I (and other researchers) are uncovering some very interesting tidbits that is making another possible suspect look more and more interesting. Details to come once I have two more pieces to the puzzle.

Or, it's the earliest case of identity theft we're run across. Being married for 61 years in 2001 would work well for someone born in 1917.

True... I didn't even think about that! I guess I just don't have a 'criminal mind'...

I cant wait to hear what you've uncovered on this 'suspect' either!!!! One question, has this suspect been mentioned before (but not as a suspect) or is it someone 'new'?

WOW itsreenw, I just took a look at her website and I am quite impressed with her work on missing children. It looks like she has some great contacts. I hope that you sparked her interest in working on Anna. I think she would be a fantastic person to have involved. Way to go itreenw :clap: :clap:

Jessica Knox is not of the same Knox family that I knew in the 1970's in Half Moon Bay. She is African-American, and HMB in the Seventies only had one (yes, one!) black family living there that I was aware of. When I lived there, the only "people of color" were either the ethnic Portugese families that had dominated the local history or the primarily Hispanic farm workers. I am sure that it is a much more diverse place today since it has become more of a "bedroom community" for San Francisco and the surrounding area.

As a side note, some of you may recall that the Coastside had been somewhat isolated for the last few months due to a landside in an area known as Devil's slide, creating tremendous traffic jams for commuters on the only highway left to reach civilization. The damaged Devil's Slide reopened last friday, so traffic should be returning to usual as of now.

I was curious about this, since we live in a pretty small community and I've never seen or heard of either Jessica or any of the musicians on her web site. (I've lived here more than 30 years.) Also I notice that she expects an honorarium when she speaks on behalf of missing children. I would hope that media exposure (if any) would go through Doogie and/or me in order to guarantee accuracy, since we have had some misinformation go out in the past and it has led people astray in the search for Anna. I don't want to discourage anything which might help the search, but I do want to be a little careful with people who might have their own agendas.

OK...I have gotten Annasmoms and Doogies permission to work on a page for Anna on Wiki missing/abducted, however, :blushing: I sincerely apologize, I am so BOGGED down with home school right now, I just haven't had time. :loser:


Can someone volunteer to do this, it should not be very hard and they have a template to go by..anyone that is familiar with Anna's story could do this.


Whoever takes this on MUST let Doogie see the info to post before it's posted so that everything is correct.
