Besides MySpace, Xanga is also a popular networking site. In Europe http://www.bebo.com/ is a biggie. If going to do a site at MySpace, I would recommend putting up sites at these also.
Add http://www.facebook.com/ to the list too.

www.bebo.com is popular here in the US too. I have an account there and had forgot about it until mysteriew mentioned it. A friend of my daughters send me her space there about a year ago. She is in her mid 20's. I know it is a large network.

Yeah, facebook is not open to everyone. According to their website:

People with a valid email address from a supported college, high school or company can register for Facebook and create a profile to share information, photos, and interests with their friends.

I'm gonna check out this bebo.com :)

Hooray! A nice start for media attention. Looks like Anna's story will be broadcasting on the radio version of Missing this Saturday. Interesting the cities that it airs in. Gotta find some links to listen on the internet, I guess, or I can take a drive to Chattanooga this weekend.

August 19: Anna Waters - Missing from San Mateo County, California

Unfortunately the radio version of Missing currently only airs on a few stations in a few cities:
Bakersfield, California: KTIP-AM
Panama City, Florida: WDSP-AM
Minneapolis, Minnesota: WXCE-AM
Hattiesburg, Mississippi: WHSY-AM
Chattanooga, Tennessee: WKWN-AM
Spokane, Washington: KOMW-AM and KNCW-FM

Great news! It is interesting that Bakersfield is one of the venues since both Annasmom's dream and the readings of some of the psychics mentioned in the book centered on that area as where Anna was in the late 1970's.

I have rhapsody, I wonder if I can get any of these stations.

I thought I had found online radio for these stations but it was bogus, I had to delete before any of you saw it ;)

I checked each webpage for each station and I can't find live feed for any of them :(

I know there is a way to get 'online' radio. Wish I had more time to research.

I'll check my rhapsody when I get home, don't know if it has radio...I also have windows media player, but not sure how that works w/radio either. UGH!

I called WHSY in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and spoke to the owner of the station. He was deer in headlights about this program. The program is not on his schedule. :waitasec:

One of our members came up with better information than the passport office itself, which neglected to tell me that I had to send a $60 money order with my request for information on George W's passport. Consequently all my documents came back while I was at a family reunion, but I re-mailed them this morning. They apparently work faster than I thought they would, so one way or the other I should have some information or some lack of information for you before too long. My suspicion is that having a valid passport was just part of GW's feeling that everyone was out to get him, but we will not know until the passport office researches it. Of course I talked at length with Annasbro and Annasunc at the reunion. Both of them are awe-struck with the genius, persistence, and affection you all have infused into the search for Anna. It really is hard to believe. Thank you.

To add to Annasmom post from above: Annasunc and Annasmom spent time discussing suggestions for the manuscript and its editing (Annasunc is a semi-retired journalist with outstanding credentials, so his input is invaluable). As a result, we are proceeding forward on getting the manuscript published in a "hard-copy" form and using the subsequent media attention to spread the word about the search for Anna.

That is great news! I hope the book brings about a lot of interest in Anna's story.

This will definitely be a positive note in the process!

Thanks to Anna's family and Dr. Doogie for all of their work!

This is not totally an upbeat story, but it is encouraging to read a story about a child who was kidnapped and years later found alive:

Kidnapped girl found after 8 years
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europ...sing/index.html

VIENNA, Austria -- Investigators in Austria say a young woman found near Vienna has been identified as the schoolgirl whose disappearance 8 years ago gripped the country.

The woman said her name was Natascha Kampusch and told police she had been kidnapped and held in a house for years. Her alleged kidnapper committed suicide on Wednesday night, police said.

Kampusch, then aged 10, vanished in Vienna while walking to school on March 2, 1998. Her disappearance triggered a massive, fruitless search that extended into neighboring Hungary.

What a great story! Just the kind of story I want to read about Anna. I guess white vans are popular for kidnapping children. This news is hitting newstations and newspapers all over the world. Lets just hope it triggers some repressed memories.

The slang term for white vans with no windows is "Kidnapper Specials" (no joke). White vans because they are non-descript and plenty of room. No windows for obvious secrecy reasons. If you recall, when the Washington DC snipers were on the loose, LE was searching for a white van and had a difficult time because there are so many of them on the roadways today.

Annasmom

Near the end of Chapter 6 in the book, you mention GW wanted to join a commune with 2 bachelors and 2 single women. Can you share more about this? A certain religion or organization?

I zoomed it up super big on my computer, and I definitely think the box you are referring to is labeled with a name that contains an F. I see an L before the F, so possibly Alfie? I don't know. The name on the little girl's overalls is Emily. The other boxes are labeled with a name ending "ando," Christian, and Jane/June.

The face looks like Anna, but the hair is darker than hers was when it disappeared, I think. The woman's hair is clearly blonde-ish, but the little girl's looks darker, though that could be because it's wet. QUOTE]

[QUOTE from book=]
July 11, l973

I dreamed of Anna last night: That Joe called me and she was snuggled in bed with him. I asked her where she’d been (she was wearing a print blouse and a blue denim jumper) and she said "I don’t know." I asked her if there was anyone there with her and she said, "Yes, Emily."
