Sedation Of Caylee - Do you think it's common?

Now I have to wonder what the damn chloroform was used for. I see no logical reason for KC to need to knock her out for that short amount of time. Or that she would spend all the effort making it for that short of a time period of "payoff."

When they first said they found chloroform in the car I thought someone used it to clean the trunk.

The most common use of chloroform today is a dry cleaning solvent. It's good for cleaning stains that are greasy IE fat soluble, since people are full of adipose tissue my first thought was chloroform would be excellent for cleaning a stain left behind by a decomposing body. It is colorless and leaves behind a sweet smell.

Unfortunately for KC she waited too long to think about the odor she was leaving behind. I don't think that smell will ever go away. That car is headed for the scrap yard to be sold for parts.

Paregoric was banned because too many Moms were using it to sedate children and there were complications from improper dosing. Too many mothers use these manners of quieting a child that they are not mentally or emotionally equipped to deal with.

I have two children one I had at age 20 never used any kind of medication to knock her out or my second child never, never even crossed my mind and I used to travel 12 hours in a car to visit family.

Thanks! I looked and looked and couldn't find this thread.

Unfortunately, I don't think it is uncommon OR new. In the 80's, my DH and I were flying from DC to Florida with our 18 month year old daughter. DH and one of his co-workers both had job interviews. It took all 3 of us to keep our little firecracker amused and happy during the flight. Meanwhile, across the aisle from us were three women, each with a baby or toddler. All 3 little ones slept almost the entire way.

I was feeling like I hadn't done a very good job with my little peanut, who sent several rows of passengers scrambling for her kicked-off little Mary Janes. Then I noticed that each of the mothers across the aisle had a baby bottle filled with a blue-green syrup - Nyquill.

Several years before this, I had a beautiful little boy in my 1st grade class in VT. Michael was a very slow learner. The rumors around that small town were that his mother routinely gave him Contact as a baby, a toddler and child. She was a beautiful young mom and liked to party. The school nurse tried to do something about it, but nothing happened.
