Sentencing and beyond- Jodi Arias General Discussion #3

Saw this and thought of the Murdering Caroler. Something Jodi neglected to include in the "Ways I Can Let My Little Light Shine" portion of her jr. high student council campaign speech allocution:

"Sniff. I didn't know that if I got life instead of death, there are many things I can do to effect positive change and contribute in a meaningful way. Sniff. In prison there are programs I can start and people I can help, and programs I could continue to participate in. Sniff. I'll share with you a few examples that I thought of..."

• I can donate my hair for cancer patients who've lost their hair! (Picturing Nurmi in a Jodi wig... oh the irony!)
• I can teach Spanish or American sign language!
• I can implement a recycling program and help the planet! (LOL.. "huge loads of waste are hauled off to landfill." Is she referring to herself?)
• I can teach literacy and start a book club and stimulate discussions of a higher nature!
• I can use iron-on letters to create t-shirts that say "Travis Alexander's" "Survivor!" I'll sell'em and donate 100% of the profits to groups that support other victims of domestic violence. (Is she referring to Travis?)
• I can sing "O Holy Night" whenever anyone asks me to, spreading holiday cheer 24/7/365! In fact I'll sing it without even being asked! (If it pleases the Court, I'll sing it here and now.)

My favorite commentary during Trial 1, was at EggTreeNews, she of the "Stabby Einstein" eponym. Unfortunately, her stuff, including the nickname, was plagiarized by ReallyBigMeanDog. I always hate to see that kind of thing. Egg Trees stuff was creative and well-written: no one had any business ripping it off, IMO.

Now I'm looking at Egg Tree's blogs, I am thrilled to discover I haven't read them all! Yippee!

If I'm allowed to post a blog reference, here it is https://eggtreenews.wordpress.com/2013/04/17/somebody-hide-stabbys-pencils/

If I'm not....please delete!

ReallyBigMeanDog was as successful trying to mimic EggTreeNews as "Filibustering Heffalump" Nurmi and "Homecoming Queen Reject Jennifer" Willmott were trying to mimic Juan Martinez.

Calls For Justice is good too:

My all time favorite spoof of Jodi was this one (even the eyes make it into the spoof):

What a surprise, I have been reading EggTreeNews also. Her reference to Heavy D and Homecoming Queen reject Jenny, is hilarious. Also her reference to CMJA's art, "Rembrandt Arias possesses a rare gift that allows her to trace other peoples art work and color it in poorly" EggTree is the blog to check out. Like you Rickshaw Fan I found some I hadn't read yet too. Her post on Geffner was really good.

I'm wondering how Perryville has silenced JA so completely. All during the trial we would see her views put out by her minions almost daily.Do you suppose Perrville has put her silence as a way to achieve advancement to greater priveleges?

Maybe she hasn't found anyone to prey upon yet (with any noticeability), she has a total motor control problem, that much she must be taking out on the other inmates... :behindbar

She's probably looking forward to gen pop, lower risk, more vulnerable 'friends' (victims). Juror 17, you are a jerk...

Snipped:

"With as much time as defense spent on the infamous sex tape between Jodi and Travis, I was very curious to know what the Foreman thought about hearing it and digesting what was said. “The sex tape was rather shocking and embarrassing.” The call happened on May 10th, 2008 and the Foreman noticed that during some of Travis’s statements in this phone call Jodi would stop and ask him to repeat what he said. “I heard her saying “what?” to Travis on the call” It was then the Foreman said it clicked that Jodi was recording this sex call and this is when the pre meditation began, “I felt this was evil planning.”

Excited to announce that on 1/7 I will be hosting an @reddit AMA related to my latest book "Trapped with Ms Arias" #jodiarias

What does that lingo mean?

Evidently, KN has decided WS-ers are too perspicacious and discerning and critique-ish to be a good platform for him to hawk his book.

there is a website called 'reddit' and an AMA stands for 'ask me anything' basically he logs on to the site and readers ask him questions in real time and he chooses to answer the ones he wants. we should all be there to ask nurmi the questions. we know this trial as well as anyone else, we are justice seekers!

(JUST ADDING THE LINK TO REDDIT TO SHOW PEOPLE WHERE THEY CAN FIND THE AMA ON THE DATE SPECIFIED (JAN 7/16 ?), NOT AS ANY SORT OF GOSSIP OR INFO ON THE CASE, FOR FURTHER REFERENCE)

https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/

So.... he decided that reddit was a good platform to be asked anything? Oh my.

I don't think I've read or seen any information about any professional mental health care JA is receiving.

Is she? If so, is it mandatory? What type of counseling is she receiving? Can she refuse to participate?

Understanding she was receiving medicine while in jail, does this continue?

Can she be helped? Don't believe she can be cured but can't imagine her being in jail for the rest of her life, without any assistance that would allow her mental condition to worsen. If she is a menace to society, other prisoners, jail personnel and herself, it would stand to reason some type of help would be useful.

Just wondering and wandering thoughts.

I'm not certain that personality disorders can be treated by medication. Perhaps some of the concomitant issues can be, e.g. depressive symptoms, but I don't believe you could get a prescription for evil.

If she's a menace, I think they just put her in solitary.

However, there are certain kinds of non-medical interventions that may help. And these might be required (IDK), but they would dovetail nicely with prison offerings, because they are about observing your thought processes for distortionary thinking and using socially acceptable ways to handle problems. I think of this as mandatory self-induced brainwashing. Some such curriculum is required of every Perryville Princess. They might be requiring Jodi to do CBT or DBT in order to be compliant and earn incentives.

The words on that blurb really don't sound like JM's. He doesn't construct sentences like that, either. If you read it out loud, it doesn't sound right.

This is conmpletely true. It is a professional press release from his (Juan's) publisher. It's an excellent read. I posted the link because I wasn't sure I can copy the article. If a mod deletes my post here, please do click the above link.

PRESS RELEASE

WILLIAM MORROW TO PUBLISH THE ULTIMATE INSIDER ACCOUNT OF THE JODI ARIAS MURDER TRIAL BY PROSECUTOR JUAN MARTINEZ
" . . . the fact that she was using some of her final words to the judge to attack me, rather than take responsibility, spoke volumes about Arias and her character. This was the vengeful woman who had killed Travis, the woman with whom I had sparred for days on the witness stand, this was the woman I'd convicted of first degree murder." – Juan Martinez, author of CONVICTION: The Untold Story of Putting Jodi Arias Behind Bars

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (New York, NY – December 15, 2015) – William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, has acquired World rights to CONVICTION: The Untold Story of Putting Jodi Arias Behind Bars, the behind-the-scenes account of the Jodi Arias murder trial by Juan Martinez, one of the leading death-penalty prosecutors in Arizona and the man who put Arias behind bars. The deal was negotiated by Senior Vice President and Director of Creative Development, Lisa Sharkey and literary agent Steve Troha of Folio Literary Management, and will be edited by Executive Editor Matt Harper. The book will be published on February 16, 2016.

Over the course of almost seven years, America watched as determined prosecutor Juan Martinez fought relentlessly to convict Jodi Arias of Murder One for viciously murdering her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander. What emerged at the trial was a story wrought with sex, manipulation, and deceit that stunned the public. Arias, always playing the wronged and innocent woman, changed her story continually as her bizarre behavior surrounding the crime and its aftermath came to light. Arias and her defense team continued to play off the salacious details of the case until she was finally found guilty and—controversially—sentenced to life behind bars.

Now, speaking openly for the first time, prosecutor Juan Martinez goes beyond the news reports, unearthing new details from the case that were never introduced at trial, exploring the key facts and pieces of evidence he chose to keep close to the vest. Throughout the trials, his persistent and unfaltering prosecution strategy was both commended and criticized, and in his book, Martinez will illuminate the tactics he utilized in this case and how they led to a successful conviction.

Sharkey says, "With Arias behind bars for life, Juan's story can finally be shared with the public. For trial watchers, and people interested in taking a deep dive into one of the most salacious murder cases in recent memory—you will hang on his every word. The sordid details and the tick tock of each and every aspect of this case make this the definitive book on the Jodi Arias trial."

CONVICTION provides readers with an in-depth examination of how Martinez's dogged style and methodical approach convicted a woman who famously claimed, "No jury will ever convict me." Complete with 16 pages of photos from the case and trial, this book is the definitive account of the case that shocked America.

I don't think medication is going to work on someone like her. She's a narcissist, there is no medication for 'a-*oles disease,' I always say... (and borderlines and therapists usually cancel each other out, they are pathological liars soo..the therapist would end up needing medication, and Arias would toy with/learn from any session). Seriously, she needs to be kept away from too much contact, that's why I was so confused they figure shelling out $$$$$$$$$ for her is what citizens should do. I guess once again, it doesn't make any sense she didn't get the DP...:tomato: I think if you're going to retry a homicide conviction, as long as DNA is there and all the ducks are in a row against a slimy defendant, there should be the option for DP again (no retry this stage). Hrmph

Doesn't have Juan's emotional or intellectual depth. But oh well, perhaps there was some heavy 'altering/editing.' Sensationalized trial and all, they wanted a book deal, they got one...

I had a thought today about the cameras. Jodi went to photograph a wedding and I didn't know if it was around the time the camera came up missing and later found in the car. Could she of taken it to use there, and was it like Travis's with a memory card? I know I've seen photo's of Jodi at the wedding and her holding a camera somewhere. I wouldn't put it pass her, she has no boundaries, and took what she wanted and then put in the car when she was done.

I think it was in March? She wrote of Travis dropping her off at the airport. They had a lot of trips and things going on in March.

Are you thinking of the pics of her at her friend Patti's wedding? I don't recall seeing any other wedding pics... though I can certainly see her doing something like that and if she did you can bet she was wearing that engagement ring while she was there.:gaah:

May texts are up at BK. I'm posting summaries in the Travis journal thread.:)
