I know! And the safest place was the beer cooler....and mere inches away was destruction. Yes! They restored my faith too.

Didn't they say that the ones in the gas station that were killed, WERE in the freezer?

Abundant Life Church is where people are going to give identifying characteristics...

Parents and other family members are being brought in to help identify the bodies.

They are bringing the families in based on the location the victims may have been found.

MsF, sorry, I was referring to the video clip Gitano posted from the tornado that hit OK a few years ago.

But still... I think we heard that the victims in the 7-11 WERE in the freezer.
Which is supposed to be the safest place.
Kind of like the kids in the school were in the hallway... "their safe place."

I hope Oklahoma and any other states that experience tornadoes as severe and frequent as we have seen in two days will make it a priority to build tornado shelters for schools. This is just so freaking sad. Like my DH said, bed rock can be dynamited! No more excuses!

Facebook is so great! One place to go to post info and get it out.

Such a blessing!

It's frustrating because the media isn't getting names when they are interviewing people.
Some of the people being looked for on there sound familiar...
But since they didn't give names during interviews, I don't know if they are the same ones.

Gotcha. Thanks .

If this ends up being an EF-5
there is really no safe place above ground.
People may still be trapped underground as well.

Police Chaplain:

Just trying to help the families and people coming.
Getting information about what the child looks like, what the child is wearing, we needed that for the ME.
Every family member has hope... we are hoping that child will be found and found alive.

One father is looking for his daughter who made it through the storm...
Has a picture of her after the tornado, with the debris in the background...
But he still hasn't been able to locate her. (No information given on this girl.)

First Baptist Moore is going to be where the families are going now.
They are going to be shutting down the Abundant Life one.

Reporter Morgan went inside the church... no cameras no microphones.
Just went in there to see. No power inside, lighting candles.
He said it was extremely hard... seeing the property devastation is one thing...
but seeing the family devastation is another.

They believe she is okay...
and they will find her in a shelter or the rescuers will find her alive in the school.
Oh I hope they are right. :please:

I was born and raised in Tornado Alley and through several tornadoes. I moved away. I hate them...they are more terrifying than earthquakes and hurricanes (been through those too). You never forget the sound .... My heart goes out to all those affected ...breaking. I send all my love to OK. Xoxo

Yeah, it's all just so precarious. No one can predict what will be destroyed or where is the safest place, really. All people can do is try to survive as best they can.

I felt the same way about the school at first. I think every school in tornado alley and every new building should be built with shelters and as tornado proof as possible. But it's not so easy.

Although I did post this earlier:

Locust Grove said the domed-design cost $2.5 million less than a traditional metal building, and the district estimates the super-insulated domes will save $25,000 a year on electric costs alone.
"They're the most highly energy efficient building you can do and they're rated an F-5 tornado, so an F-5 tornado can hit this building, and it's gonna still be here," said Superintendent David Cash.
The campus can also serve as a community shelter in a worst-case scenario.
The school was built with a $4.5 million federal stimulus grant.

Well you know it is possible. With phones down, someone else could have taken the child home and not be able to reach the parents yet.

Just talked to National Guardsman: said they found dog alive in pile of rubble at Plaza Towers Elementary. There is still hope. (1:21am)
