Severe weather April 13 & 14 2012 in Tornado Alley

Haven't found it on an official site yet but responsible Twitter users reporting at least two fatalities in Woodward apparently confirmed.

Here it is:

2:07 AM CT: Woodward Sheriff confirms 2 deaths from #tornado #okwx

Another bullet dodged, for now:
... The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southern Harvey... southeastern
Reno... Sedgwick and northwestern Sumner counties will expire at 215
am CDT...

The line of storms which prompted the warning has weakened below
severe limits... and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or
property. However gusty winds are still possible with these
thunderstorms.

In addition... strong thunderstorms may redevelop... and a Tornado
Watch remains in effect until 6 am CDT.

Two is too many but I'm praying that is all for the weekend

Hitting as late as they have though it won't surprise me if they find more tomorrow

I have relatives in Kansas and so we watched the storm chasers map all day and then listened to the KS state troopers in Salina tonight. I'm sure there must be some people injured somewhere. I heard on the Weather Channel that there were trucks overturned on one of the freeways, maybe in Nebraska. And a hospital had the windows blown out in Iowa, I think it was.

My daughter watched and listened to this all day because it has become her worst fear since the Day of Tornadoes last April. None of us will ever take anything for granted again - we get in the bathroom and hide under quilts when the hail starts, believe me!

Thanks for all the updates! Still hoping and praying Shelby hasn't checked in because of internet or power issues and she's safe.

Praying for all in harms way. :please:

Oklahoma emergency officials said five people died before dawn Sunday after a tornado hit in and around the northwest Oklahoma town of Woodward, the high winds damaging homes, toppling trees and downing power lines in that area about 140 miles northwest of Oklahoma City. The brunt of the damage was reported on the west side of the town of about 12,000, and in the neighboring community of Tangier.

Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems took a direct hit, officials said, as did the Oaklawn neighborhood and a mobile home park.

Preliminary reports said 100 trailers in the mobile home park were damaged when the storm hit shortly before 10:30 p.m. In the Oaklawn area, two homes were destroyed and several others were damaged. Two residents were taken by ambulance to area hospitals, while many others were injured but did not go to the hospital

Show me, I've heard reports of 60 over three states, with 100+ reports of hail.

Tornados still firing off. I've been watching Kansastwisters.com and tornadovideos.net, and have seen several "live" occurring.

I am torn between being terrified and being jealous...

Me too! Way too rain wrapped and dangerous for us to chase....watching other chasers in action is totally awesome with the live feed.

Majors storms skirted by us...I read others not so lucky.

Thanks to all posters who continue to provide severe weather info. We went to bed when all danger had passed. Lots of wind and gusts happening here. Still have a chance of severe weather today then clearing up. I don't think we will have any tornadoes in my area it feels different.

I guess it's time to bring up all the stuff from the basement and put the plants and grill back on the patio.

Watching the damage on weather channel. How awful!

Never, never stay in a mobile home during severe weather. Hubby and I lived in a trailer when we were a lot younger. I awoke one morning and the whole trailer was rocking back and forth just due to fierce straight line winds or a micro burst. A trailer up the street had the whole side peeled back like and old fashioned sardine can. We moved not to long after that.

I'm here N/T. Thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers. This was the longest night EVER. The storm alert last went off around 4:30 this morning. I was up the whole night. About 2:30 we had a huge storm hit with 70 mph winds and hail. I'd say we lost a little less than half of our wheat crop. :( Last year it burned up. This year was going to be the best crop ever--60 bushels an acre probably--and now half gone. Sigh. I'm thankful that's all we lost, though.

I'm exhausted.

Golf course behind our house lost HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of trees..neighbors house that connects to my side yard looks like a mangled mess of a dozen or more whole trees down. One onto a second story deck, another onto their gazebo. LITERALLY just skipped over our house, the area on the golf course to the south is devastated, the yard just to the north of ours is a MESS. We lost a about a dozen or so large tree branches and one section of fence.

Oh no Shelby! I'm so sorry. Sometimes we forget the economical damage that can be done to a crop in a field. It's like hurray! The tornado/storms missed the buildings and went through a rural area, everything is fine. But it's not when it's your crops that are lost.

Big hug.

Glad you finally went to your basement! I'm relieved you are okay. You were in the heart of it all.

Our storms didn't get too bad overnight like I was concerned about, but we are a 3 on the Tor-con for today and tonight.

WI, MN, and IA are all at 6, but they are at the highest risk. Looks like this thing is finally dying down.

Prayers for those that didn't make it through, and prayers for those that lost things that can't be replaced.

Calling all Sleuths in affected areas...check in please!

So sorry for the losses Raeann and Showme have suffered but so happy y'all are still with us.

Yes, we are fine, lots of clean up, but neighbors and golf course crew are already out working, along with a few dozen people looking and taking pictures!!! Will your wheat crop recover at all or is it too late in the growing season all ready?

I took a bunch of pictures, but don't know how to post them on here....the Lexus, Mercedes, Acura car dealership at Kellogg and Greenwich has about a hundred gorgeous new cars with exploded windows. And the Raytheon/Hawker/Beechcraft plant lost the roof off of plant four just down from there.( I took a little tour of our part of town on the way to Starbucks this morning.)

Just catching up on the news...I am so thankful that it wasn't worse. NMK, glad to hear you made it through the night safely...same with Raeann and Shelby.

Prayers still going out to all those affected...and hoping today doesn't do a darn thing weatherwise.
