Sex Workers Want Respect

If you want respect , stop being a hooker and selling your sex for money. They are never going to gain respect whilst men can buy them to do any degrading act they want them to. You want respect then earn it , honey!
I already respect prostitutes..they dont have to earn it..they just have it- until someone does something to dis-earn my respect- they already have it.
I am no better than any one..and they are no differnt than anyone either..they have a differnt job-one I wouldnt choose- but there are lots and lots of jobs I wouldnt choose.
However, if I found myself with lesser options I think most of us would do whatever is left to do to stay alive.
Walk a mile in her high heels and see how life looks.

and bravo to you and the others who see them as people first..people deserve protection..yes-if you put yourself in certain situations there is a greater liklihood of being harmed..but that goes for sports-medics-steel workers- iron workers and so on..
Some jobs are high risk for injury and thats why in Canada we have Workers Comp..if u are injured at work u at least have an income..if its good enuf for firefighters-medics, window washers, etc then why not the oldest profession.

I also think that most women are familiar with using their feminine wiles to hook men..and to keep men..they just dont get money for the exchange directly..they get it indirectly in the form of diamonds and dinners and sometimes a home..(not so much as before because women work for better pay now)..but I know that women use their bodies to bargain with their men..anyone who doesnt know that isnt being honest imo

We reward men with sex-we sooth men with sex-we appease men with sex and so on..and we also have sex freely and if we want to sometimes..or often even..but women's power is in sex or not having sex-mens power is in giving money or not giving money...(again in general terms and perhaps more in the past)..

I have more respect for a woman who'd sell her body then I'd have for a woman who chose welfare instead!!

I have no disrespect at all for someone choosing welfare over selling their body-I am not sure most people choose welfare so much as it chooses them at some point in time.
I am sure most are deserving of it and that it is necessary for them..most dont abuse the system.
I cant honestly agree with you on this one but I can respect where u r coming from.
Either postion the woman is in is still respect worthy is what I am saying.

And if we are unable to offer respect or recognition, at the very least, we may be able to extend acceptance.

Women and men who are working as prostitutes exist in our world.

prostitutes are not drug dealers
and there is no respect whatsoever in your attitude toward these women and men who exchange money for sex honestly..there is nothing hidden-they will do what u want if u pay them.
I have issues with attitudes not people-I wouldnt be able to name one person here that I have a personal issue with- I can describe attitudes from posts at any moment..I think you made a big error in how u described these people and you are not going to now dump it on me..stick to the issue..your post was blatantly in poor taste and now you try to bring drug dealers into it.
I am all for charging pimps and drug dealers-the prostitutes are not one and the same..why not just own that your attitude toward them is hateful..its not about deflecting to a whole other level of criminal such as drug dealers-or about playing on emotions about who I might have issues with..I have issues with attitudes and in this case it is yours.
Newtv,
Your the one who brought up WS members.
I am not sure what description your referring to??
I described Prostitutes as Hookers?? Is there a difference?? I do not know what "attitude" your refering to either??
I simply stated the obvious ... which is if someone wants respect they need to respect themselves first.

I fail to understand how the options are be a prostitute or be on welfare??
What about get a real job??

Well, apparently in Turkey, in some areas, if the daughter has sex before marriage, families attempt to convince their daughters to commit suicide, or else, they will kill them themselves.

It may sound extreme, but it kind of reminds me of some of the holier than thou attitudes displayed here.

It's good that we don't have to walk a mile in the prostitute's shoes.

Besides, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it written in the "Good Book" that it isn't our job to pass judgement. Doesn't it say: "Judgement is mine, sayeth the Lord." Again, correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

I could think of some circumstances where I could be forced to do this. Of course, it would be devastating, but if one of my kids needed medical attention that I couldn't afford, if I lived in a slum, etc., I would do anything to give my kids what they needed.

Too often, prostitutes sell their bodies, to obtain drugs, but there are women who are providing for their children, and there are also very attractive young women, who are putting themselves through school by prostituting themselves.

I don't understand the circumstances, and can't hope to, that cause women to sell themselves; I didn't grow up the way that they did, and didn't face the same environmental situations that they did, so I'll try to withhold judgement of them.

get lost in judgment--either judging the prostitutes or judging other people's intolerance.

All the same.

Its a cycle, isn't it? They most likely need to be out of it when they prostitute themselves and then they get hooked and can't stop taking the drugs, so prostitution is then something they have to do in order so suport their habits.

And some women do it just because they can make a TON of money, they like sex and don't feel degraded.

Some are as beautiful as models, college educated and have high class clients.

There are young girls, some from very well-to-do families, who get hooked on crack, and prostitute themselves readily to the sleasiest of men, to obtain drugs, or the money to buy them. The drugs are in control. How they managed to get into that situation is their unique story.

And they already respect themselves. So it is no surprise they ask that there profession have similar protections to other kinds of work. Out of self-respect.

If they're hooked on drugs, I seriously doubt that they have much self-respect. :truce:
