Sheehan Arrested at Whitehouse

  • #201
Why can't Sheehan do what Pat Tillmans family has done? They have stated they do not support the war. But thier son did.And even after Pat was killed by friendly Fire instead of turning on the goverment they made a positive out of a negatuve. Anyone interested look up Pat tillman and see the foundation they have started in his name.
I am sorry she has lost her son. But from what I have heard he was PROUD to serve his country. All sghe has done now is deost of life.

Jules! Where was that?!

In Cypress - off 290. He was driving a BIG truck and had others with him. I was loading groceries in my car when he pulled up 2 cars from me. He got out and people recognized him right away. He stood there talking for a while. Was very nice and so funny! Said they were on their way from Houston back to Crawford. They stopped to get bottled water, etc. at Kroger. He actually stayed outside and talked while one of the other guys went in to shop.

I called my hubby from the car and he was SOOOOOOO mad he missed him!!! Funny thing was I tried to get him to go with me and he didn't want to! :slap:

Let me look in the mirror.....oh he!! I AM Ted. Why then, am I sitting in this cubicle? I am outta here...:D

I can't quite take too much of Ted. Gets under my skin with his off the wall behavior while hunting. But he's good for a laugh at times. People are mixed on whether he is good for hunting or bad. Certainly outspoken and you know, I really don't like that type of person! ;) :D

People love to make fun of hunters but in my experience, hunters are the most polite and honest people around. Sure, there are some loons and the feminists would deride us for doing such horrible things as holding doors for women, patronizing women by tipping our hats, and having the audacity to bow up when someone messes with our darlin! :D

   Who are you anyway?

Conservation would be nowhere if not for the fishermen and hunters and the money they generate, let's face it. I agree -hunters rock!

My now-huntin-fanatic son came home once when he was little and said a teacher was knocking people who had real Christmas trees. My son said, quite rightly, "Why is it better to eventually bury the fake trees in the dump for a thousand years than go to Mr. ____'s tree farm every year?" He wrote an essay on his beliefs and turned it in. He learned a lot about renewable resources, which he is very big on to this day. I notice when he hunts and fishes, he takes good care of everything he uses and doesn't waste a thing, whether it's bait, tackle, or his catch/kill!

OT, but related, even though I don't especially want doggie messes in my yard (from other than my own dog), I have to chuckle when I think of us bagging up our dog poop in non-biodegradable plastic and throwing it in the trash to be hauled off to a land-fill. I admit, I usually let the rain and other natural processes take care of such things. My motto is "watch where you walk."

We must be the only culture who does this (are we?). I picture thousands of bags of petrified dog poop being discovered some day. What a hoot!

Cal, you're my hero today. I read all the posts on this thread and you seem to hit a nerve with me with your posts. Thanks for your intelligent, witty, and succinct writing.

I have been to the White House years ago when the public tours were much more extensive. I also crawled all over the Capitol Building. (We lived there inthe 60's and early 70's.) I also was given clearance to the Pentagon when delivering computer tapes to the Army. Funny how they stopped me at several check points, then when I asked for an individual, they pointed me down the hallway and told me how to find the cafeteria. No escort! My son was priviledged to serve as a page to Congressman Bill Lehman of Florida after we had moved back to Miami. That experience along with teaching him values has led to his becoming a fine man and responsible citizen. He served 10 years actively in the Navy, saw battle in the Med during our tiff with Qadaffi, served 10 more years in Navy reserve and is now serving with the Air Force reserve. Hey, are you my son in disguise? You certainly sound like him.

Thank your son from a grateful Nation.

She has a right to free speech, you know. If she was arrested because of something her shirt said, then what's happening to our rights?

Besides....asking how many more will die is DEFINITELY a valid question.

I just think she's starting to make a fool of herself. I understand about the right to free speech but she keeps taking it the next step. She needs to be constructive and not destructive. She's not gaining anything by showing up at the President's ranch, his speeches, etc. I have even heard that her marriage has suffered because of what she's doing.

The last few times, she's been outnumbered by the protesters supporting the war. ;) But ya don't see THAT in the news, do you?! Nope.

Sorry but this woman is a moron.Approx 2500 young men and women have lost their lives in this tragic war, untold thousands more have suffered injuries to varying degrees, and there is of coarse the risk of future emotional issues for those who have served.Funny thing is we only hear this 1 particular "woman"(I use the term lightly)complaining.Yes it is always sad to lose a loved one,and it is most definately sad to have our nation involved in a war.Yet where would this nation be today without the dedication and service of past generations of young men who fought and died for our right to be us.I took the time to check numerous websites the first time I saw this nutter moaning on CNN,never saw anything about a single man or woman in todays military being forced to be there. Most would agree that todays army is a total VOLUNTEER effort,we abolished the draft in the 70's I believe. How loud did this individual moan when she saw the list of lifetime benefits her son would have?Did she moan when she saw the GI Bill he was eligible for?Did she bother to ask him not to take the oath of service?Probably not, most view the military as an easy way to get a free college education,or at least a well subsidised one, maybe she was happier with the prospect of him getting the finest technical training available. In peacetime these opportunities are almost too good to pass up,yet it is called the military for a reason, sometimes they do have to fight, and sometimes they will die in the fight. This nutter needs to take a good dose of STFU and do as 99% of the rest of us do....Support the troops.Bash Bush and his war all ya wish, but the tropps deserve nothing but support for their dedication to and willingness to fight for the things that make America the best damn nation in the world today.

Charges Against Sheehan to be Dropped
WASHINGTON - Charges against antiwar protester Cindy Sheehan, who was arrested after a scuffle over a T-shirt she wore to the State of the Union address, will be dropped, officials told NBC News Wednesday.

U.S. Capitol Police took Sheehan away in handcuffs and charged her with unlawful conduct, a misdemeanor, when she showed up to President Bush’s address Tuesday night wearing a shirt that read, “2245 Dead. How many more?” — a reference to the number of soldiers killed in Iraq.

But Capitol Police will ask the U.S. attorney's office to drop the charges, NBC News’ Mike Viqueira reported Wednesday.

“We screwed up,” a top Capitol Police official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

He said Sheehan didn't violate any rules or laws.

I just wish the media would quit giving her free advertising, keeping her name in the news. As long as she makes headlines it serves her purpose.
Personally, I think the woman is mentally ill/emotionally disturbed and is being exploited by those around her. She's starting to actually get a noticably loony look in her eyes now, so her usefulness is probably coming to its end.
