Oh yeah...

I'm SO GLAD to see that Sheri and the children were not buried yesterday. I wonder if it is possible that a secret court hearing was had in the last few days to stop that burial -- but no one could know about it because it would reveal what is coming up?

Can this happen, a secret injuction?

I just can't help but think that LE and the court are really upset alongside the family and want to help them but have to be careful how they do so that it doesn't put a snaffu on the best walk to the arrest.

I feel bad for his parents, I have a feeling that they are going to support CC in the same way Scott Peterson was supported by his mother. He an absolute disgrace to his church and his family, not to mention the Marines.

I wonder if this case isn't receiving as much national attention because CC and his mistress are x-Marines.

IMO, the press would go after this story because of the Marine connection. It just makes for a "sexier" story. The entire case has the elements of a much sought after story. Beautiful wife and kids slaughtered. Supposed terroristic threats against Mega Church and husband. Huge controversial mega church. Ex- military suspect and stripper mistress. Discord between the families. It is quite puzzling the national media didn't jump on this days ago.

Have any of Sherri's friends or family spoken out about what they think? Not that we could convict someone based on popular opinion, but it would be interesting to hear something from someone who loved her. IF he did it, he WILL get found out...too many eyes on this to get away with it...and strippers always talk.

Ya know, given everything I read on this and other sites, I'm starting to believe that if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck -- even if you can't prove it. Some part of me sometimes wishes that popular opinion had a role in our justice system.

Anyone familiar with JMM know if this is true? IMO, all kinds of wrong and a very narcissistic enterprise. Below is just a snip of the comment:

And her son pulls up in a Mercedes Kompressor, you walk in to the main admin lobby and there a chandelier hanging from the ceiling that is bigger than the ones they have hanging in the White House. Just a bunch of money spent on stuff they don't need that could have been spent spreading the word of the Lord. Or providing food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, etc... No, Joyce just wants to flaunt it and waste it. And then she has to the gall to put in huge letters on the front of her bulding "LOOK AT WHAT THE LORD HAS BUILT". No, it should read "look at what the fools that sent me money bought!!".

I read on that site she had a 20,000 toilet:eek::eek::eek:

Unless they are worried about him skipping town, I think this is a waste of time don't you? I mean, c'mon, if he is guilty there is no way he is going to risk making a stupid move now.

The other way of thinking about this is making their presence known, which could potentially add stress to the situation for CC if he is guilty. I'm sure police have employed this tactic before with some successful results.

Personally, no, I don't think its a waste of time. Also, I'm not the least bit worried about CC experiencing additional stress, if he did, it's certainly warranted. I'm thinking about the stress that Sheri, Gavin & Garett were under when they looked into the eyes of someone they loved and trusted as their precious lives slipped away.

But, I can only speak for myself, and I'm kinda emotional!

Hiya Again,

What I mean to say is... It grieves me to see bodies not honorably buried, similarly it grieves me to see them exhumed -- it seems such a sadness. I have been thinking that there is no way that I would want my beloveds buried anywhere near where the murderer grew up and took their lives -- I would fight to have those bodies where I could bury them with love, dignity and honor.

So...we are not sure who the murderer is, but we have a guess -- and maybe there are some in LE and in the courts who are reasonably sure -- so just maybe they were able to put a hold on that burial. Why else would they not bury them yesterday as it was said they would be? Was it raining? Would rain stop a burial? Was another plan made? OR...has the Chicago family gotten some type of secret something to hold the burial up until THEY could bury them with love and dignity?

You're funny. :)

That's what Mom and Dad called it when we were older and had done something wrong.

When we heard, "We need to have a coming to Jesus meeting." We were like    Uh Oh!

And if it turns out that this pattern of infidelity is true - how could JM NOT know? As i posted once earlier, I have been in a core ministry position in the Evangelical movement. I've attended several JM events. I became disillusioned because of this type of covert shuffling of "dirt" under the rug. (not on this level- thank God). But I did see how "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

I agree with you that the whole shuffling the dirt under the carpet is horrible and unfortunately it does seem to be associated with the Evangelicals. That being said, I don't blame JM for being in denial at first. Who wants to believe that a person responsible for their safety is capable of such a horrific crime. It also seems strange to me that JM needs security to begin with.

Where I live we had a bishop that was driving under the influence, killed a pedestrian and left the scene. The sad part is his punishment was not much more than a slap on the wrist.

Yeah, but we never actually got called to a church for it!

CC needs to sweat, it could make a difference in his state of mind when they finally do pick him up. I think the MCS knows exactly what they are doing.

I haven't read the entire thread, so I am sorry if some of this has already been discussed. Here are my thoughts . . .

My initial thought when I saw this on the news was the CC was guilty. Part of this is based upon all that I've read, the recent trends in our society, and the fact that certain aspects - namely, the threats - made it seem far too strange.

Then, I felt bad for rushing to judgement.

What about this case, and this case alone, seems suspicious?

Motive

He was linked to woman in Florida. Beyond that we can only speculate regarding marital problems. Many of her family members have claimed no knowledge of any, which seems odd to me. And any theories about a possible realtionship with the female minister, or other women, are simply that - theories for now!

Manner of Death

Strangulation, if indeed that is accurate information, makes this a very personal crime. And from a forensic standpoint it is a much "safer", if you will, means of committing the crime. Why? Well, if CC is guilty he does not need to worry about blood spatter evidence, gun powder residue, or disposing of a murder weapon.

Timeline

Here is where I think he may be in trouble, if he is guilty. He told police, per the various sources of print media, that he left the home at 5:30 a.m. to go to the gym. The police were called at 7:00 a.m. This is a small window for the crime to occur.

Forensics will be able to determine the time of death via body temperature, digestion of food in stomach, etc. Cameras at his home and in the subdivision may be able to see him leaving.

If he is guilty, I think his statement locking him into a 5:30 a.m. departure could be crucial.

For now, I'll ignore the rumor that a neighbor heard screams at 3:00 a.m. It is just a rumor, and does not warrant discussion.

Miscellaneous

If CC is guilty, did he have scratches?

Did a camera near his gym, or at his gym, capture him arriving there? Did anyone see him there?

Computer evidence?

What number did the call to 911 come from?

If the message was painted on the wall at the home, as reported, did they check CC for paint spatter? If spray paint is used, we all know how it fogs up and can get on other things.

If there is a history of threats, were they all simply notes left in the mailbox? If there were notes, do the police have them? If not, why not?

Problems the Police Must Overcome

1. The crime occurred in CC's home. Naturally, his prints and DNA will be everywhere.

2. So far, no reports of marital issues by friends / family.

3. History of threats. Like it or not, this could raise reasonable doubt.

4. No murder weapon. DNA evidence in this will be difficult.

I agree with what you're saying..I think it's probably to add stress. But, at the same time- I've always thought that IF CC is guilty, he would try to flee. He just strikes me as that kind of person.

I wonder if the new touch DNA is going to be a factor?

All great questions and points, Milopede!

To answer your question about what number the 911 call came from..I believe Chris called 911 from his cell phone, as he was leaving the gym.

I COMPLETELY agree with what you're saying about if he left at 5:30 am and called police at 7am..that only would leave the perp (assuming it's not him) about an hour and a half to commit the crime. Also, around 6-6:30 or so, I would think some of their neighbors would be up and leaving for work, or at least awake. I wonder how come no one reported seeing a strange car at their house, no highschoolers going to school (i know most highschools start around 7:15ish..so I would think they would be up and on their way) saw/heard anything, etc. It just seems weird that, on a weekday, the neighborhood was completely dead in the mornings.
