Very cute pics of boys at the below link:

Police have no suspects but they have security camera footage and some prior police interaction as leads in the deaths of a mom and her two sons in their Columbia home.
Sheri Coleman, 31, and their two sons, Garrett, 11, and Gavin, 9, were all found early Tuesday strangled in their home at 2854 Robert Drive in Columbia.
Neighbors said Chris Coleman came home early Tuesday from his job working security for Joyce Meyer Ministries, an evangelical group in Fenton, Mo., and found the bodies. He came outside, was yelling, crying and rolling on the lawn when neighbors spotted him and called police. (more at link)

Overkill on the acting sorrowful maybe?!

Gosh, I sound so cynical. (sigh) Well...guess that is what WS does to some of us. We do see it far too often and it is like a script with these men. Some things just glare under the light and it is hard to dismiss them as being coincidental or innocent.

You know, I really hope I'm wrong and I know people have different reactions to grief, but rolling on the lawn?

Also, there doesn't seem to be anything in the articles mentioning numerous police reports that must've happened with all the threats? What about the vandalizing of the mailbox? It seems to me that there would have been a mention from the police that there had been threats, not that he had "told neighbors." The heck with the neighbors, I'd be calling the police with every threat.
Maj. Jeff Connor, Major Case Squad deputy commander and Granite City's assistant police chief, said police were continuing to talk with Chris Coleman.

"I can confirm there is some prior police interaction. There were some interactions between an unknown individual and them but we don't know if it's a specific crime. I'm not ruling out anybody," Connor said during a late afternoon press conference.

Oceanblueeyes, the stats and charts are kind of confusing. I wonder what the stats are on an entire familial murder like this one?

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/homicide/intimates.htm

In recent years -
  • About one third of female murder victims were killed by an intimate.
  • About 3% of male murder victims were killed by an intimate.
  • Of all female murder victims, the proportion killed by an intimate has been increasing.
  • Of male murder victims, the proportion killed by an intimate has dropped.

I found this. Still looking at the charts. I guess your parents are more deadly to you than a sibling is...who knew?

There have been such an increase recently of Family and family murder/suicides, I wonder how that effects the stats from 2005?

Family homicides most often involve spouses or ex-spouses although such crimes declined recently

  • After spousal killing, children killed by their parents are the most frequent type of family homicide.
  • Siblings are murder victims less often than other family members.

Soooo...Chris didn't go straight home from his job? What prompted him to call LE to check on his family?

(snips)
A source close to the case said someone had scrawled a message on a wall inside. The law enforcement source also said that Christopher E. Coleman called police shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday, saying he had been at a gym in south St. Louis County and asking that they check on the welfare of his family. The source would not elaborate.

A neighbor, Michelle Kunzelman, said police knocked on her door and the doors of other neighbors last week and asked if anyone had seen anything unusual related to the Coleman's mailbox.

Kunzelman hadn't.

Columbia police found the bodies, Connor said. Pressed about the husband's role in the discovery, he said, "I can confirm the husband was involved in finding the family."

Hmm now that is odd? he was at a gym and called police to do a welfare check? I'm so hoping this man did not kill his family, but it's not looking good.

Also states further in the news report that they found surgical pants with stains in a trash can in the neighborhood. Maybe it wasn't stranglation?

I remember watching a case on trutv about a man who killed his wife but set it up weeks before sending threatening letters and spray painting racial stuff on their house. He was convicted!!

Joyce Meyer use to (and still may) do the woman's conference. It was several lay speakers that go across the country. I seen her when she came to the toyota center about 3 yrs ago. It was a neat weekend conference thing. I had fun!

Exactly, SuziQ! The stats have changed dramatically in the past 4 years alone! I can think of at least ten cases off the top of my head and out of those...half are within 50 miles of me where the man killed his wife and either part of his family or threatened to kill the rest, but they escaped.

Hmmm...Hopefully, he didn't count on this! (Altho..there are two entrances to the neighborhood.)

The city of Columbia operates a network of security cameras, including some in residential neighborhoods, and there is one near the subdivision's entrance. Police declined to discuss it Tuesday.

Heh, I was having fun with the stats in relation to the Anthony's. GA would most likely kill CA. then maybe LA or KC, or all of them at the same time. CA would most likely kill LA or KC. LA would most likely kill GA. And KC would most likely kill Caylee. But LA and KC would probably not kill each other.

Now, now, Suzi~ You know as well as I do that CA would eat her young. GA wouldn't kill CA because there are no brass ones big enough. The stats say emphatically they are not to be applied to the A fam. ;)

Does not look good for Christopher.I find it very interesting the wifes name was taken off house months ago, and if he was worried about his family he should have went home instead of the gym.Don't men watch tru tv? if they did they would see how they all get caught. Don't they realize divorce is alot better then killing your wife and children.I hope I am wrong but I doubt it.

This statement bothers me.: Joyce Meyer arrived in the neighborhood about 8 a.m. today to console the neighbors. Meyer told them that Chris Coleman "needs a lot of prayer. He needs to be uplifted."

She is a minister and so I understand what she is saying. Chris will need a lot of prayer as his whole family has been murdered. He needs to be uplifted. In other words...lift this man up in prayer because he will really need it. He will need prayer whether is is innocent or guilty is the way Joyce would look at it...I believe anyway.

I would imagine that Joyce planned to pray with Chris before she left the neighborhood. He was probably busy with LE at the time she arrived. I think it is really nice of her to come and spend time with the neighbors. This has probably had a major affect on them in many ways.

you are so right HM & SS(posts 40-41)! i can think of at least 3-4 of cases with some or all of the mentioned behaviors. its terrible to be so jaded, but there is really something off with this one...

for some reason this one keeps reminding me of the jennings case. there were dirty pics being distributed around the neighbor hood and prank calls etc. that were distirbing the wife(that LE suspected hubby) leading up to him poisoning & suffocating her. and of course he was having an affair and quickly remarried after the death of wife. maybe this guy is innocent - but would anyone, stranger or not take the time to strangle three people? :waitasec:

These little guys are so cute. This is the first pics I have seen of them and it just breaks my heart and infuriates me at the same time. I have not seen a pic of the Mom yet.

There is an epidemic of missing children, murders of children and babies, and now a trend toward wiping out entire families. I just do not understand the motives for all of this. There are just too many sick people in this world now. Why doesn't someone close to these murderers and kidnappers recognize that someone close to them is about to snap? I would certainly pick up on different behavior or mindset of a family member. Ah, I am rambling now, but I am just so sick of these senseless tragedies!

I hope whoever did this is caught and prosecuted in short order. It will unravel. I am looking forward to learning more about the husband/father.

Thank you for the link, Suzi.

I didn't read it all, but I will and many times it is the wording of the stats that can be confusing. I would say "intimate" would be someone the victim knew but not necessarily the spouse/bf etc.

I am just hoping for all families involved that this husband/father had nothing at all to do with this.

That is why I put the other stat up because it broke it down by percentages in each category.

imo

I agree. If he was the one setting up these threatening letters then LE will start from there imo. I remember in the Walker Railey attempted murder case he typed threatening messages on his church typewriter and made them look like he was being threatened. When his wife was found in their garage beaten and bloody he tried to say it was done by the person who had been threatening him. His ex-wife to this day, is in a nursing home totally disabled by the attempt to murder her.

They found the church typewriter and it matched the letters that had been sent. Even his own kids thinks he was guilty of trying to murder their mother yet the jury let him walk scott free.

So the key to this case, imo, are the threats. Where they fabricated or were they real? It shouldn't take too long for all this to unravel imo. I do find it odd that the home was taken out of her name in December but maybe they tired to refinance and her credit had problems and they went with his because of the stronger credit history. I have seen that happen many times in my career before I retired.

I do believe that some people out there can be diabolical with their fanaticism at times. I believe that is what happened in the case of where the Doctor's car was bombed. Whomever did that meant to kill him and planned to leave it for his family to see. Thankfully he pulled through.

imo
