one can possess discernment without benefit of a hinky meter

With all due respect, that's just nonsense. You may not call it a "hinky meter" - maybe a sixth sense or intuition. Whatever, you seem like an intelligent person and I guarantee you have it and NO ONE here will believe otherwise.....

The first written mention on CNN - short, sweet, and totally devoid of any mention of JMM - and published after CC's resignation. I know that certain posters think that JM is irrelevant to this case, and others that I sound like I am a rabid JM anti-christian - but I assure you, that is not where I am coming from. I am a believer who has followed JMM for the past 9 years, and grateful for the teaching I learned in those early years.

I also watched the "housewife from Fenton" grow into mega star, complete with all of the trappings. I watched the family business grow to the point where the money machine has to be fed on a huge scale, both to support the road shows, the outreach ministry, the family compound, their political activities and a lavish lifestyle.

I'm not a "hater", but more saddened by the way this ministry has, IMHO, been seduced by mammon (sorry but it's the religious name for something that I believe is totally relevant to this case.)

Was CC was able to deceive JM and the "inter-sanctum" of an organization that demands moral accountability from it's employees? His father is pastor of a church that subscribes to the same doctrine. Who missed the signs? From the evidence pesented so far, CC is not that smooth of an operator, or a liar. Did no one see, or more importantly, discern that something was wrong? And don't think for a second that this brand of faith respects the privacy of it's ministry members. That's not how it works.

If anything, I would say to JMM - please re-read II Corinthians, 12:7, Matthew 6:19-21 and Matthew 19:16-30

And why would Sheri not have discerned something ominous if her husband was indeed planning to kill her AND the children. If she even had an inkling, do you think she would have stayed?

Outside of retaining a lawyer within hours of learning of his family's murder and demanding a court order to give his fingerprints, I find the facts that he didn't bother to contact his in-laws for two days after the murder, and tried to keep his dead wife's family from transporting their remains to Chicago so they could have their own funeral service to be very telling.

Legally, it means nothing.

Morally, it tells me that he had so little regard for both his murdered family and their loved ones that he would try to deny them the human need to grieve and honor their losses. I can only guess that he couldn't face them for fear they'd see his guilt or he felt that now that his wife and sons were dead, they were just leftover details to be brushed aside.

If my DH died in this manner, I might not be able to tell his parents myself, but I'd d@mned sure have someone tell them immediately and I'd expect them to grieve with me. I can't even comment on his children being murdered. Can't fathom it.

I respect anyone's right to question if he is the guilty party, but I put alot of stock into a person's actions during a crisis, and this guy stinks like rotten eggs fermenting in a heat wave in August. In Florida.

analytical, I don't doubt that CC had some threat letters to show LE or that he talked about them with friends/family/colleagues.

I just have a hard time accepting the legitimacy of the 'threats' - and even if they were/are *real*, are they just conveniently part of a wicked plan to off his family??

Admittedly, I have a harder time accepting things that seem "hinky" to me as anything *but* that given my own experiences with an abuse ex-Wasband who was really big into headgames & scaring me....he even had "friends" who played along with him because they, being as sick as he was, found it amusing to terrorize me.

It's my experience that many folks on true crime boards have been exposed to, or are survivors of, the same twisted folks who do things like this.

And why our hinky meter shoots off the charts as soon as we hear of murders of a SAHM & her kids.

My ex father in law was controlling and mentally abusive to his wife. She got tired of it and moved out. One night a guy broke in and attacked her, no sexual attack, robbery or anything like that. Just wrestled with her a bit and left. And that was after she received hang up calls for days before. She freaked out and moved back home. Well the story is, that her husband hired a guy from work to scare, not hurt her, so she would move back home. :bang:

A couple of questions if anyone can help out.

Is it true that CC purchased more life insurance on his wife in 12/08?

When you talk about a DVR being stolen....are you talking about a DVR that records television shows ( ) or a DVR that is camera equipment?

Thanks!

I'd prefer to call it perceptive ...... not a "hinky" meter.

I've learned to rely on it more and more as some past experiences, when I ignored it, in hindsight show me that the "warning" I was given was not meant to be ignored.

I dont know if this has already been posted. Sorry if it has.

Major Case Squad Using Twitter to Search for Information on Columbia Killings

"Investigators with the Major Case squad have taken to social networking websites online in an effort to share and solicit information on the murders in Columbia, Illinois last week, along with other cases. They say they still want more input even though they believe they know who killed Sheri Coleman and her two sons.

The Major Case Squad has set up a Twitter Page to communicate with people on the web.

Wednesday there were big developments involving the Major Case Squad investigation into the murders. The head of the Major Case Squad, major Jeff Connor, says he believes he knows who killed Sheri Coleman and her two sons Gavin and Garrett."

Someone else knew about those threats. I posted the link several days ago. The person blogged for prayer after learning of the murders and stated Coleman family had been threatened for "nine months".

The person either knew Coleman or knew of him .. to have this information.

No doubt someone did. It was reported that the colemans had spoken to people about them. There are probably a lot of people who knew them who also knew of the threats. The wife probably told a lot of people because it was frightening and she wanted people to know about it. The husband, imo, would have told people about it because he wanted people to know about it so suspicion would immediately divert from him if something happened to his family.

Funny, I would think that if someone were going to break into his home and kill the whole family why wait until he was gone, why not get CC too? Or, if some unknown person were to plan to sneak in and murder the wife and children only why would this perp cut it so close to the time CC left in the morning and people were up and leaving for work, it was light outside, etc... If the killer wanted to get the family only why wouldn't it have been done in the middle of the night while he was away on travel with his job? Why take a chance at being seen in the daylight by people in the neighborhood? Thats what convinces me that the husband is the suspect.

After watching NG and listening to Major Jeff Connor again tonight...it is obvious he is talking about Chris Coleman, imo.

The explanation of why the detail was pulled off Chris makes sense, too. The reporter mentioned it was because MCS were not going to be staying on the case indefinitely and could not keep up that type of surveillance after they found the SA's office was not going to go ahead with charges yesterday. Major Connor's response was they had people on him because something could have come up and they would have to follow up with Chris. Reading between the lines...they anticipated an arrest. It would make perfect sense they handed the detail off to the local authorities from Columbia (not Chester).

I will be anxiously awaiting tonight's NG transcript. ;)

The MCS officer's salaries are paid by their home departments. I have just figured they didn't want to keep paying all of that overtime if it was going to be awhile before an arrest was made.

IIRC they called it a long standing affair so it sounds like quite a while.

Yeah, an article stated they had a relationship in highschool and it continued on from there.

ETA: to add, so I'm not misleading anyone and starting rumors, that I do not have a link.

I haven't seen that one. How could that be? He didn't go to high school with her but rather Sheri did. Chris grew up in Chester and Sheri in Florida.

Its a small world. I live in MO and I know a lot of people who live in other states. Just today I spoke to someone in Boston, someone in CA, and someone in OK. I told each one of these people some little tidbit of my personal life. If I were to be found harmed I'm sure each one of those people would hear about it and remember what we had last spoke about. So, I think the fact that some people knew about the threats doesn't really mean a whole lot. Of course the fact that people know about them could actually help a prosecution of the case. Especially if everyone who knew would come forward so the accounts could be compared and analysed.

Ummm .... that's where I have trouble. Misstatements are made .. other posters believe them as fact and run with many posts based upon incorrect information.

I don't have to source this ... if they grew up in different states, there could be NO relationship starting in high school.

This is the thing of which false allegations are made ...

How could that be since they didn't attend college together?
