so the spray painted message is in the basement? just doesn't sound as much of an impactful "statement" to leave as one that would be left on a wall facing the front door or in a bedroom.

maybe the perp didn't want to get overspray from spray paint on the carpet? ;)

isn't that what mysterious intruder murderous perps care about?
A considerate stranger perp who doesn't want to get the house dirty or bloodied. What a concept! :waitasec:

Consider this scenario .. the paint was stored in the basement. The killer left the message on the way out.

Entry and exit through the basement

This post deserves a huge ....:)

And I don't want to offend the poster who wrote an open letter to the parents of CC, as I know the heart was certainly in the right place. But IF CC did this and said "he didn't fail his test - he just stumbled - who knows why".

I have to respectfully disagree. 3 murders is not a stumble, it's a face first dive into the the grand canyon, and is a complete failure of God's trust.

My god says:

You shall not kill

You shall not commit adultery.

You shall not steal

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour

I'm not particulary a religious person, but my parents sent me off to Sunday School every week, so I did have a pretty religious upbringing. For what it's worth, it's going to be pretty tough for the PERP to get beyond those pearly gates.

Just my opinion - that's all.

Best,

Mel
I have to say I thought the same thing when I read those words. To murder your spouse and children has to be the most heinous of crimes known to man. Any man or woman who could do this is cold blooded, calloused, and harbors the evil saved for the devil himself, imo.

no......this has nothing to do with the TOD.........it has to do with his statement about the husband being arrested after the tests come back......i dont think the tests have anything to do with the bodies, but evidence, phyiscal evidence sent away to be tested........that is why i ask that question, how do they know, according to his statement, they know in advance the results are going to result in the husbands arrest???????????

My opinion only, but I think they are so sure the tests are going to come back to show the husband did it, is becuase the TOD is such that ONLY the husband could have done it based on his statements and other proven facts which back up that the husband was at home at the TOD. So in the mind of LE, they have belts and suspenders (TOD and forensics).

Unless he just walked downstairs, opened the window, pushed out the screen a bit, grabbed the paint, left the message, and walked out his front door.

IMO They have evidence it was him just waiting for it to be confirmed.Who knows what it is ,It might be a palm print , or maybe they measured his fingers and can tell by the bruising it was him.Maybe his cell phone pings or maybe the GF knew things and told to keep herself out of jail could be some many different things. We just have to wait and see.

I was reading back to the beginning and that the house had security cameras. Would it have been possible for it to be staged for the basement to be the point of entry/exit to avoid the security cameras?

I don't have a list handy, but it seems we're seeing more of a pattern where LE says that tests take time and there's no hurry - then we see the perp in cuffs later that night. Which is fine with me.
Well, you are right. It goes along with the no POI/Suspect thing. Maybe we will see him cuffed n stuffed very soon.

I think it would be quite fitting to do the honors at church on Sunday, but hey...that is just me. I would arrange it so the congregation saw it firsthand and knew there was no doubt the charges were real. I am a B*tch that way when it comes to people who murder their wife and children. ;)

Sheri and Chris were both involved in the ministry in various ways. They led Bible study classes and also financial advice seminars in the home. Sheri was planning on going to Africa and to Europe this summer on mission trips. (She had previously been to Cambodia and other places with another organization, IIRC. World Outreach, I think.) Sheri and the boys were members of the Destiny church and were active within their church, too.

I think he wanted to maintain his position at JMM and be the "grieving" father/husband to that congregation, JM, and his father's congregation (his father is the pastor of the Grace Church). The job gave him many perks with the travel and the houses where he could carry on his affair with Miss Motive.

ETA: Good to see ya, Panthera~

I know there was a rumor the other day that the insurance policy was increased in I think November. I was going to post on that and I forgot. Your post reminded me of it. If Sheri was teaching financial classes on the Dave Ramsey material. Then there is a good chance that is why they upped their insurance. I listen to his radio show and have his material. He recommends every one to up there insurance to 10x what they make yearly. We did do this. So I can see them doing that. Again I think he is guilty by his actions until someone proves him innocent!:furious:

I did consider it but it just didn't seem to have the same "oomph" to it as a message sprayed in a hallway leading to the bodies or above a bed, etc.

If indeed there was the angry, vengeful perp with an "I told ya so" message for CC, why not put a message where he could get the most out of it?

JMO on that scenario.

There was a camera on the back of the house pointed towards the lake as far as we have heard. The camera in front was trained on the mailbox. So the answer is yes.

Because it wasn't in the script for him to walk back up the stairs where the bodies were located?!

Hmmm...I have another possible reason for the basement being damp. I wonder if the house had a sink down there? Maybe he took the time to clean himself up a bit before going to the gym after he did the message thing?

Thanks so much for the reply. That's what I got out of what I read and basically wanted to confirm it. :)

There was 2.09 in. of rain on April 27th, a trace on April 28th, 2.13 in. on April 29th, .04 in. on April 30th, .32 in. on May 1st, and a trace on May 2nd. This could account for the dampness in the basement.

We have really heavy clay soil in Illinois and it takes a while for the ground to dry out. In the spring we also have very heavy wet dew on the grass in the morning hours.

I think the coroner on the scene would know pretty quickly the approximate amount of time the family had been lying there dead. If they were totally cold, for example, that would show they had been dead for much longer than a couple of hours. Since Chris states he was home until around 5:30 a.m., that pretty much makes him the bad guy.

Wonder If CC turned the a/c system way down to throw off the TOD? I seen that in a case on tv also.

I watch to much forensic files. Which I'm watching on trutv right now:woohoo:
