 Cause they've already identified the "About 6 foot tall, blonde hair, blue eyes, medium build, white male, driving a green SUV" perp

I bet you're right!

The truth will come out in the end, then we'll know. Until then no need to continue beating the lawyer-up horse.

Then one wonders why the matter of the "immediate lawyering-up" is often brought up and used as a nail in the coffin of Coleman's certain guilt.

Hi Gita,

You have some great points here. My biggest problem is the timeline.

1 - the victims will have had to be killed after CC left for the gym. There should be no problem determining the TOD. If forensics come back and say they were killed before 5:45 (or when Chris was home) that's going to bring it home for me. But my Lord, where do we begin if the TOD is determined to be while CC was at the gym???

2. I'd like to know where the attorney's came from. My gut tells me the ministry had many at hand (but criminal??) and they may have been contacted by the ministry immeditately (we just don't know yet).

3. Is there evidence he purchased items at Target (such as spraypaint, shoestrings). Again, that would be a big hit for me. I hope LE is hitting up all the local stores. Then again, he could have purchased items on his various trips -- with cash. LE wouldn't know that unless a store came forward.

I can get over the house and the cars -- there has to be a reason SC signed them over in front of a notary? I'm sure this will come up sometime in the investigation with the notary as a witness. This could be benign to the case -- not sure.

He sure isn't acting like Marc Klass, Walsh, or Mark Lunsford. Instead, he is acting like Mark Hacking, Scott Peterson, and even Drew Peterson. I wish that wasn't the case. Both extended families deserve so much more than that.

Again - so many unknowns.....

All the Best,

Mel

Hello!
You know, I read a post that stated Chris's family are trying to say the killer hid in the house and was there before Chris left. I'm wondering if they are saying that to try and set up an explanation for a TOD occurring when Chris was still home. Wouldn't wash to me. How could his wife be strangled in the bed next to him and he doesn't know? But I agree, TOD is the key to this case.
As to the lawyers, someone also posted that Chris' family arrnaged for him to retian the lawyers. All I know is that they are very high-profile, well known crim defense guys.
And as for the Target scenario, boy oh boy. I just can't imagine many people being that stupid as to buy things used to stage a crime scene in this, our digital, Big Brother society. But, it does happen. However, although that would be compelling evidence, I think there may be enough without that for an arrest and conviction.
Time will tell!

Thats right I forgot to add her............must be a relative...........I have spent so many hours with really good questions and have never gotten on.Maybe we should sleuth her and ask her the secret to getting to talk to Nancy.

I have gotten through maybe 4 times and twice to LKL. Just kept hitting redial, but, I think if you don't get in during the first 5 - 10 minutes, that is it for the night.

  • #405
That would be nice. Especially if that was the ONLY thing he was buying.

Does Target even sell spray paint? I don't recall ever seeing it in the hardware department around all the nails, extension cords, etc... I'm always in that section for 3M tape thingys and now that I'm thinking about it can't recall ever seeing it there. I know they don't have a paint department. Just curious - trying to prove/disprove yet another rumor, lol!

I can answer that. Unless they started very recently, they do not. I needed some last fall, and Target didn't have it, I asked a clerk and they said no. So I went to Home Depot.

For all the newer posters, you should be made aware that every case has 'salmon who swim downstream'.

Some of them choose to be such just for the pleasure of creating disruption in hopes of getting forums closed. Some are employees of the defense trying out different scenarios to see what may fly. Some just do so for the simple pleasure of being different and, because they can. A few actually believe the accused could not be capable of doing such a heinous crime.

I used to be in the marching band........ well, nevermind.

Don't want to interrupt the flow of conversation here but I wonder if CC hired someone to commit this crime. My DH used to leave for work abt 6am and I don't ever think he called less than an hr later to see if we were okay(unless there was a storm or something obvious he would need to call about). Which also leads me to wonder if CC was being threatened and his family was killed out of revenge.

Also have they pinned down the time of death yet?

JMO

This thought has crossed my mind too, the murder for hire possibility. Is it possible that LE has the hired killer cornered already and are waiting for forensic evidence to come back to prove everything? Again...I am catching up here....

True, but keep in mind. As nutjobs go, the religious nutjobs are the ones you REALLY have to watch out for.

After doing a bit of google research on JM, it's pretty easy to see that she is paranoid about security. She stated that's why she built the houses for her children that surround hers in the conpound - for protection. (although it seems strange to risk sacrificing your kids to protect yourself - LOL)

"Security is important to Meyer, who says she has received death threats. She has a division of the ministry dedicated to her safety. Her officers wear pistols; they guard the headquarters' front gate, keeping out anyone but employees and invited guests.

The ministry bought a $145,000 house where the security chief lives rent-free to keep him close to the ministry's headquarters. "

********

"Meyer also said the decision to cluster the families together was a way to build a buffer to better ensure privacy and security.

"We put good people all around us," she said. "Obviously, if I was trying to hide anything or thought I was doing anything wrong, I wouldn't live on the corner of Gravois and 270."

http://www.trinityfi.org/press/JoyceMeyer1.html

CC would have known how paranoid JM has become about her own security. It would have been easy to "play" on her own fears and genuine concern for he and his family. I bet she is royally pissed off at him for using her and that she is truly grieving for his family.

Anything could be possible at this point, but if I was to ever arrange a murder for hire, I'd also make sure I had a more solid alibi with a longer stretch of time away from my victims.
I might then also ask for it to look like a home invasion with items taken, has there been any mention of anything missing?

It is heartbreaking to hear of how her family has been shut out, I'm wondering why someone else, maybe his parents? couldn't have contacted them rather than the police.

There are so many cameras now today they may have spotted his car on a surveillance tape and saw him stopped or flinging something in that area.

There are many traffic cams along the route that CC took to Gold's Gym. there is one cam specifcally on the IL side before you cross the bridge. Could it be that LE caught something on this cam specifically? I do know that they seemed to concentrate their search in the area just before you crossed the bridge.

You can access the cams ksdk.com or any of the on line local media outlets also. I use them occassionally to view how bad traffic is on my commute home from work in St. Louis County to Waterloo. I am sure if it was light enough at the time of day in question, the cameras could have picked up CC's car.

The question was presented to Major Connor who refused to answer. ;)

As for Sheri's family, I am glad they didn't find out via the press. We knew the day of the murders. His lawyer that he hired hours after the killing could have called them! (And btw~ His lawyer was the one who said he came on the case Tues. afternoon, but no time was given.)

good morning all.... was just checking in to see if there had been an arrest yet. I am very amazed that there hasn't been! I guess it is just a matter of a little more time.

Adnoid, I wanted to thank you for all your hard work moderating this thread and for the incredibly funny picture of the gold spray paint huffer!

Morning, NeeBee~ No arrest yet...but it is imminent. We will have to wait it out, but hopefully it won't take much longer.

Ad~ How long had you been waiting for the perfect time to pull out that photo?! LOL It is one of my all time favs of mug shots.

The time has never been confirmed as to when he hired them. And I totally agree with the last thing needed would be a Criminal Defense atty immediately if you're innocent.

The packing was days later - monday? of this week... tuesday maybe? whenever they released the house they were in there immediately.

As for how to pick, Margulis is one of the best known. Scott Rosenblum another. I would have been shocked if he wouldn't have picked one of these two.

Okay, I'm finally sleepy - so good night to all!

I respectfully disagree, Stella. In this day in age of forced confessions by LE and other issues I would want an attorney present even if I knew I was innocent. Google the Joshua Kezer case. Perfect example of small town justice rotten to the core.

Again, I am not defending CC's actions, but yes...I would want an attorney present immediately.

I totally agree. And because of what a legal eagle posted on here once, I have also told my sons that if they were EVER accused of a major crime, that they were NOT to talk to LE but to obtain counsel FIRST. Yes, I would be a prosecutor before I'd be a defense attorney, but not all members of LE are infallible either! It's a crazy world out there!

Although it appears to me that CC has reason to be arrested, obtaining counsel is not one of the points I'm using to come to my conclusion.

FWIW, Chris Coleman hired an attorney within hours of his wife' and son's bodies being discovered. It was reported on a local news station on 5/11 and according to the news reporter (woman) she got her information first hand, from the NOT suspects own attorney. I saw the report, Seriously Searching saw the report, and OceanBlueEyes saw the report.

Unfortunately, I went back to the link this a.m., and the video is no longer available. However, please know, this is NOT rumor, it is fact, from the attorney's own mouth.

IMHO, the timing of Mr. Coleman's obtaining the services of a def attorney and his since that time, NOT talking to LE is my 'hook' on why I feel this guy is guilty as He!!....of course there are many other reasons as well, but many of the other 'reasons' pointing to his guilt could possibly be construed another way. However, IF he's guilty, the 'other' reasons also point towards guilt, to many. For me, they now point to guilt because I've reached my 'hook.'

See,..........to long-time case watchers, it's a 'given' that the husband or NOT suspect will 'lawyer-up.' But.............that's usually at the least, the FOLLOWING day of the crime. NEVER on THE DAY of the crime................UNLESS there's something to hide.

Believe me, there are MANY more unknowns that will be revealed during this case study. Personally, I know of many scenarios that happen over and over and over and over, on these similar type cases. As for myself, I'm not going to speculate WHAT? they are but patiently watch as they materialize.

I see the rumblings of suspicion of the wife/victim's family have already begun. Pretty SOP......................:waitasec:

Just sayin'
fran

PS........oh,...........about the lawyer thingy,.........it's OK to lawyer up, but why stop talking to LE????? IMHO, because they don't WANT to hear the answers.:behindbar or they don't want to GIVE the answers?:bang:

PPS........another thing........PERHAPS Mr. Coleman was advised by friends/family to lawyer up. His bad for taking the unsolicited advice......Did they also tell him NOT TO ANSWER ANY LE QUESTIONS?........IF they told him NOT to talk to LE, why are his RIGHTS, in his own mind, more important than solving the crime of MURDER against his entire family?........Where's the cry for JUSTICE????? or is he AFRAID?

I wonder why he didn't just take a leave of absence. LE haven't said he is a suspect yet...even though we know that he is....He must have resigned because of the affair he is having. Word must have gotten back to JMM.
Since they are cooperating fully with LE, I would say LE informed them of his affair. I don't think a leave of absence was offered. It was probably more like resign or be fired.
