Yeah, someone said he ripped his former wife off too and then had a hasty wedding to his paramour.

I heard that, too - someone on this board posted it I think. There's too many posts to go back and look for it! Maybe that poster will come forward and tell us what they know.

I also wondered why the Columbia PD said this will go on for years to come.......the trial will be lengthy, but I can't imagine it will take years. Was he meaning the trauma to the community???

Possibly they think there is more to this than just the murders. Maybe the church or ties to other entities.JMO. Who knows what he was involved with.

He might have had a girlfriend in a different state, but I believe this case is going to boil down to money. I'm sure we will learn in the coming months that there was a life insurance policy(s) involved.

I pray that his parents are smart enough not to go down the road of Jackie Peterson and ruin themselves by spending millions of dollars defending this 🤬🤬🤬. Well, I take that back -- sounds like the people who attend this chrch may be the ones paying for it.

I wish for once parents would be able to realize, "Wow.. maybe my pride and joy DID do this...." -- instead of never being able to accept the fact.

The look on his face when he was handcuffed last night pretty much told it all.

It has changed a little - for links to other threads on WS just post the link, vBulletin will format the whole thing and put the thread title in the link for you with no extra work on your part.

Thanks! I like that. I figured it had something to do with the cool changes I've seen. For some reason though, each time that link is copy and pasted it doubles, the the next time it triples, then quadruples. And it's very stubborn to edit the extra stuff out.

New member and first time poster. I'm from Arkansas, and actually related to MANY Colemans. (Hopefully NOT this bunch!) Forgive me if it's been stated, but where in Arkansas is CC's family?

glad you are joining us, lustm.

It's been reported that CC's brother Keith is in Rogers Arkansas.

Take care and thank you for all of your posts. I found them very helpful.
I am so happy they've got Chris and I hope your town will someday
recover.
^i^

Here is what I think will happen in Chester.

Ron Coleman and his wife Connie will step down as pastors from Grace Church. (they will say they have to focus on Connie's cancer and Chris' defense case.)

The Coleman parents will move out of Chester because everyone including people outside of Chester know where they live.

The cult church (Grace Cult Church) will go on but they may lose a few followers but I don't think many. They will continue to hold their noses up high in the air in this community. (they think they are better than most in this town)

Brad Coleman will be forced to resign from from Chester PD, he will transfer out of Menard and be a corrections officer for another prison up north in IL or in another state. (the whole family may end up moving to Arkansas.)

I am not sure what other relatives live in Chester (cousins and such) but I have a feeling that they will distance themselves from the Coleman family as much as possible if they did not attend Grace Church.

Coleman's best buddy Derek lives in Chester also and most of his family is up in Red Bud (sits between Chester and Columbia about 30 minutes away from either town). I have feeling he will also be leaving the church and Chester.

I really don't think you will see many Chester people come out of the woodwork to discuss Chris Coleman and his family publicly until they are gone out of Chester. (small town and you really have to watch what you say to others in this town as they may be a cousin or some other relative of the person you might be speaking about)

Real Estate still sells at top dollar here especially if the home isn't ancient (built before 1950) and if it does not sit on top of Route 3 or State St (Hwy 150) in Chester.(which the Coleman homes don't and both appear to built after 1950). So selling their home(s) won't be a problem.

I think Brad Coleman is going to have the worse time if he sticks around in Chester. He still has to make a living and word will get out on the inside the walls of Menard that his brother is a triple murderer who killed his own wife and 2 young sons. Co-workers will keep their distance from Brad so that prisoners don't think the other guards are buddies with Brad. (this could put the coworkers in more danger) - This pressure inside the prison walls alone will cause Brad to seek employment away from Menard or other prisons in the general area.

JMO...

I am happy that Chris is off the streets and out of Chester. We all can sleep better now here in this small town knowing that he is behind bars.

That is it from me tonight and you probably won't see much of me here often as my life must go on and I must get back to my daily life.

Until later and please take care all!

ITA that this will somehow be tied to financial gains for CC.

I wish y'all could hear what my b/f has to say about CC's motives....some of it's really crude guy talk so I'm hesitant to post it....but it does make a lot of sense to me...I've tried to think of a way to post all of what he said in a sanitized version, but you know guys!

One thing I can share is that he said he's seen it before with men who have had very controlled lives such as CC's where expectations are so high & little time to 'experiment' with a lifestyle other than what they were born into -- raised by a pastor, then Marines, then married, then straight to a job working for a fundamentalist religious organization....he said there's little perceived and REAL freedom in a life like this...and CC wanted freedom.

I have been studying cults since I was 20 or so..ok..so about 36 yrs.
Do you know how large Grace Church is? I would think locking the doors with people inside is against some kind of ordinance. I live in the area where the Beverly Hills Fire happened in 1977 or so...
If I lived there and knew they were locking doors (even if the "congregation" was willing, I'd report it. They couldn't get out alive if there was an emergency.
I'll never understand how folks put reason aside and blindly follow anyone.

Couple of interesting posts over at bnd.com this morning.

Maybe this will shine a light on the Grace Bible Church(cult) in Chester. Chris Coleman's dad is the pastor. He drives around in a chruch provided Porsch. I am not a member of the church but know someone who is. They are required to give the church a copy of their W2. They MUST give 20%. The church has specially trained security guards. Not to protect the people but to control them. When the service starts, the doors are locked and no one is allowed to leave. Talk about a cult and being control freaks..... just wonder if this type of enviroment has anything to do with why Chris did it.

Well Mr. Burnside, looks like you may have been right on this one. Go ahead, stand up and take your bow. You deserve it. One question though, I wonder what Edwards meant when he said, "The Columbia Police Department is going to handle this case for years to come."? I find that statement interesting.

Quite possible, makes you wonder since the silence from them is now deafening :waitasec:
I got home from work this morning and refreshed my page and as soon as I saw how many pages I was behind and the thread closed, I knew something big had happened. I had to read the last 20 pages of the old thread all by myself, not being able to comment (that was torture, believe me). Pshew!! finally, I am at least back with the rest of you, albeit still 5 pages or so behind.

This was something that I kept wanting to say, but of course couldn't comment on the closed thread. But it seemed the silence of a few of the newer posters was deafening.

I am so tired that it's really hitting my emotions in a big dog way. Part of me just wants to walk away now because I've been through so d@mn many of these cases, each one emotionally draining in it's own way. Although I was convinced of his guilt, I so wanted it to be anyone but him.

I feel relieved that at least now people in his area can rest assured that the perp is not a threat to them or their families. I am proud of MCS and the local LE down there that they were able to work together and solve this horrific murder. But I'm just so frickin' sad right now.

I hate to get mushy, but I love all of you guys. I feel that we are all part of a big ole family, and even if we don't always see eye to eye, at the end of the day, we're all still here for each other. Even though the comfort is from cyber hugs, I know my Websleuths family will be here for me.

I just want to give you all a group hug and say Thank You for all of your contributions. We are an amazing group and I think Kudos are in order for each and every one of you.

I have to get some shuteye, we're on forced overtime now, probably the rest of the month and I'm already running on empty. Not sure if I'm physically tired or emotionally drained, but my peepers are barely peeping and as much as I hate to get way behind again, I gotta go crawl up those 14 steps and get some rest.

RIP Sheri, Gavin and Garett.

What a terrible, terrible waste of 3 beautiful lives.

What I'm shocked about is the stupidity of men who believe they can get away with this. How many times has this script been written before? Man's family dies -- but man isn't injured.

They always believe "they are the ones that are going to get away with it..."

So -- they plan the "perfect" crime. Yet they NEVER act correctly after the fact. That's the problem. They cannot simulate in their mind how much stress it is going to put on them when they have committed the crime.

So.. Chris doesn't call her parents for 2 days . . and basically tells them -- "You can come down if you want for the service..."

Uhhh... He should have rehearsed a little more.

I'm local and I am happy. It like christmas is coming but you have to wait for it. We all knew he was guilty, except the shallow people around here who thought that no one of their caliber could do such a thing. But complaints aside, we are unfortunately stuck in a world, not a city, state or country, but a world where this type of thing happens. I don't think it has anything to do with God or the devil as it was CC's choice to do this and you can thusly tell it was all premeditated.

He was sick of his family and wanted to move away. He had his wife get off of the deed of the house and the cars, he got an additional life insurance policy on his family and he offed them, thinking he could collect, keep his job at the ministry and retire with a stripper. What part of that does not sound like it was planned. It may not have been carefully planned, but it was planned.

Fact is, he did something evil and should go to jail. Folks around here have commented that they should place him in front of a firing squad and some have said that even that is too good for him. I have heard that Columbia should set up the gallows and let him hang, whcih I think would be the best thing in this case.

I don't personally know anything about the church, but I was reading comments @ stltoday where a poster went to the church to check it out (like a week or so ago) and was questioned about why he was there, and said it was obvious as he drove away that his license plate# was written down.

I suppose in the aftermath of the coleman family murders (and related "threats") there could be concern about safety of the members, but this wasn't the only poster who said that there are folks in church (like security) who keep an eye on visitors & monitor them closely -- and this was before the murders.

Still trying to decide what I think about all that.

Hello TallCoolOne,

what you said -- for sure -- and I know I am emotionally drained too, feeling much of what you are feeling.

At this point, all I can hope is that someone can get to Chris and say, "Chris, you can stop the wickedness here, you can confess -- don't listen to your attorney who only has much to gain in defending you, listen to what is right -- confess and take the toll, it is best for everyone and best for you."

I just finished catching up on the previous thread, after reading on Fox this morning that Chris had been arrested.

Before I go back and start catching up on this thread I just need to say that well, I'm not sure what I need to say. I am feeling alot of things at the moment. I'm feeling good to hear that he's been arrested and we are a step closer on the road to justice for Sheri, Garett and Gavin.

But I'm also overcome by this whole anti-climactic thing. We've been waiting for this moment but in so many ways I don't feel any better about anything. Chris Coleman is just another on a way too long list of people who have done grievious harm to their own families.

I feel sick that I can read the very beginnings of a case on here and be able to foretell the outcome.

I pray that Sheri's family receives justice and comfort in the long days ahead.

Hello ArtieG,

I can't imagine what you are all feeling, not the totality. I know that if this had occurred in our neighborhood, amidst our circle of friends, we would have many of the same feelings you appear to have.

I think that it is a mistake that we have not kept some of the older ways of punishment, showing all that "this is what happens" to those who would do this to their victims and all of society.

Am I the only one who feels a little less safe after Coleman?
I've been married 30 yrs and am not afraid of my husband.
I wonder if Coleman's family was afraid of him?:(

Artie -- so glad you posted...I've been wondering how the community feels now...there must be so many who feel betrayed.

I hope CC confesses so that the families & community can be spared more agony.....I can't imagine what it must feel like when driving by the house - or looking at it every day if it's in view of your own -- knowing what happened there.

My heart goes out to all of you.

Yeah, someone said he ripped his former wife off too and then had a hasty wedding to his paramour.

This is true. Their father, Pastor of Grace Church, married them only two weeks after the fact. Another of many double standards at Grace Church.

I am sure that the trial will be a long one and probably appeals on top of it.
