Am I the only one who feels a little less safe after Coleman?
I've been married 30 yrs and am not afraid of my husband.
I wonder if Coleman's family was afraid of him?:(
^i^

You are not the only one, Storm...some of us discussed last nite how disturbing this case is to us - to the point of problems sleeping.

I live with my b/f and trust him more with my life than anyone I've ever trusted...but who knows what lurks in the rest of the world.

I was recently contacted by an ex that frightened me...this is after decades - literally - of no contact with him....he was a violent man & he now knows where I work.

So yes - there's plenty of reasons to fear what's out there...not just for myself, but for all people who are just going about their daily routines & in no way deserve being murdered by an unknown psycho or someone close to them.

About 25 people gathered Wednesday morning outside the Monroe County Courthouse in Waterloo to see the face of a man police said killed his family.
"There is just some kind of heartbreak in this kind of case," said Tracy Combs, of Waterloo. "I just wanted to lay my eyes on the man who would do this."
Combs said she and her 4-year-old daughter placed a teddy bear at the memorial that has grown outside 2854 Robert Drive in Columbia, where Sheri Coleman, 31, and sons Garett, 11 and Gavin, 9, were strangled with a ligature on May 5. Police on Tuesday night said they had obtained murder charges against the husband and father, Chris Coleman.

also from the above article:

Kim Dattilo, of Waterloo, said local residents are angry. She said she hopes Monroe County State's Attorney Kris Reitz pursues the death penalty against Chris Coleman.
"This is exactly why the death penalty was created," Dattilo said.
Coleman's arraignment was expected to be held at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Hey you all....

The things you have been reading about Grace Church are pretty much right on.
They don't lock the doors in the church they just have security blocking the doors checking who is coming in and out.

I can only hope and pray that CC's arrest may have brought some light into what is going on in CC's father's so called church. Maybe it will also be investigated and hopefully this is the beginning to the end of Grace Cult Church.

New member and first time poster. I'm from Arkansas, and actually related to MANY Colemans. (Hopefully NOT this bunch!) Forgive me if it's been stated, but where in Arkansas is CC's family?

WELCOME to Websleuths! :blowkiss:

Couple of interesting posts over at bnd.com this morning.

Maybe this will shine a light on the Grace Bible Church(cult) in Chester. Chris Coleman's dad is the pastor. He drives around in a chruch provided Porsch. I am not a member of the church but know someone who is. They are required to give the church a copy of their W2. They MUST give 20%. The church has specially trained security guards. Not to protect the people but to control them. When the service starts, the doors are locked and no one is allowed to leave. Talk about a cult and being control freaks..... just wonder if this type of enviroment has anything to do with why Chris did it.

Well Mr. Burnside, looks like you may have been right on this one. Go ahead, stand up and take your bow. You deserve it. One question though, I wonder what Edwards meant when he said, "The Columbia Police Department is going to handle this case for years to come."? I find that statement interesting.

Being originally from Chester, having attended Grace Church and knowing people who still do.
The doors are locked so that no one can come in late and disturb the service. Not a good reason. I have not ever seen another church do that. In reality it is part of security for a really paranoid pastor trying to play big shot like Joyce meyers.

The pastor draws a handsome salary and lives in a Church owned home with all expenses paid, including an automobile allowance. The pastor of this church has on occaision received expensive automobiles as gifts from members of the church. A particular corvette comes to mind. This pastor has a taste for sports cars and lots of them. Not a collection but trades often. Porsch, Jaguars and Corvettes to name a few.

W2's are not required but the people are strongly encouraged and do give very generously.

In my mind this place is no doubt a cult with a definitely cult like following. Their is definitely an upper echelon and "click" that can be obtained by being a generous giver and showing extreme loyality.

Wish I could shut my brain off after stuff like this happens and STOP asking why. Stop trying to make sense of something that there is no sense to be made from.

At the end of the day, there's just something wrong with this man that he justified in his head killing his family. There is no way to have that make sense to normal people, and yet it churns away in my brain trying to make sense (notice I'm lumping myself in with "normal" lol).

I feel the worst for the people who's trust was broken. They trusted him to be a good man, love his family, take care of them. Whether they are her family, her friends, or his, it's awful.

To them, I guess all I can say is remember you can't control the actions of other people. All you can do is your best to be a good person and do the right thing, and hope that you set an example for others to follow.

If only we could ID how and why these people get "wired wrong"...it would bring to light a serious debate over whether we should use that knowledge and then speed up Darwinism a little bit.

I don't personally know anything about the church, but I was reading comments @ stltoday where a poster went to the church to check it out (like a week or so ago) and was questioned about why he was there, and said it was obvious as he drove away that his license plate# was written down.

I suppose in the aftermath of the coleman family murders (and related "threats") there could be concern about safety of the members, but this wasn't the only poster who said that there are folks in church (like security) who keep an eye on visitors & monitor them closely -- and this was before the murders.

Still trying to decide what I think about all that.

This is very typical.

Is there no live feed on this?

Now if we all hope really hard, just maybe the only words that he will be able to form with his mouth are "guilty, I want to confess."

I'm sorry...my son came in and started talking to me so I missed it!
I think they said they'll be covering the arraignment though
