JMM released this today:

"This horrible tragedy has deeply saddened us all and although nothing can compensate for the loss of this beautiful family, our ministry remains fully behind the diligent efforts of the law enforcement community."

"Coleman's attorney, William Margulis, told reporters after the brief court appearance that Coleman "maintains his innocence." "

Can you imagine as a young child having the realization that parents do murder their children? I wonder if even only for a fleeting moment their thoughts go to their own parents. Alot of kids will be sleeping with one eye open. Kids close to the Coleman case will be horribly scarred for years to come.
I wrote this last night, but it was at the end of the thread. It worries me, too. I can only hope the school would have addressed it today.

How are the parents of their classmates going to explain that the monster who struck in the middle of the night killing their friends was their own father?

How is this going to affect them for the rest of their lives? Will they wonder if it could happen to them? Will they spend restless nights with nightmares of monsters sleeping in the next room? (Wasn't he their coach, too?)

I hope the school is preparing tonight to have counselors onhand tomorrow. This is almost as traumatic for those children as the deaths.

I wonder if CC would have been able to keep his job if he divorced,Maybe he would not have murdered his family.I think JMM should change that policy. :furious:

I hope that the children who lived in the neighborhood and were friends with Garett and Gavin get counseling.

The football team isn't part of the school, but is a youth league. Columbia Blue Jays football. I think the kids that play on the team would either go to Columbia public schools or Immaculate Conception Catholic school.

It isn't just the neighborhood tho. Chris interacted at church with children and coached, too. So many will be affected by this and it is sad. It would be easier to tell them about bad strangers instead of evil fathers.

We had a high school teacher/coach here kill his wife and the kids went through a very difficult time trying to accept it even tho they were older. It affected everyone in the community. They did have counselors which I am sure helped after her death and his arrest.

That's the thing with murder cases. You read about, you mull it over, you watch the news articles, you watch the investigation, you form an opinion on who the perp is and you sit on pins and needles until they make an arrest.

When the arrest is finally made, whether it's a week or months or years away, it's like you were holding your breath................and you slowly exhale and then....................a reality check.......................the perp isn't going to get away with it but what?????

Dam*, those three beautiful victims are lost FOREVER!!!!!!

It's like, with murder, there can't ever be complete justice, because you want things back the way they were BEFORE the crime. But with murder,...........it's FOREVER.

This is the part I hate. All the murder cases I have followed end the same. The perp is either arrested or not,............but the victims are lost............FOREVER.

It takes just a little bit of your heart, you know?

I agree so much with what you wrote here Fran. I still think about Laci and Conner Peterson and grieve for their families and what was taken away from them by that selfish SP!

Maybe if someone from the community stepped in to suggest counselors may be a good idea at both schools....hint hint.

I don't personally know anything about the church, but I was reading comments @ stltoday where a poster went to the church to check it out (like a week or so ago) and was questioned about why he was there, and said it was obvious as he drove away that his license plate# was written down.

I suppose in the aftermath of the coleman family murders (and related "threats") there could be concern about safety of the members, but this wasn't the only poster who said that there are folks in church (like security) who keep an eye on visitors & monitor them closely -- and this was before the murders.

Still trying to decide what I think about all that.

Are you talking about JMM's church or the Coleman's church? How bizarre and creepy this all sounds. What are they so scared of?

Oh, that is great! Thanks, Blue! I do worry about kids in such situations. This is something I am familiar with and it is always a frightening scenario for smaller children.

Does JMM have a church? It does sound very bizarre to go to such extremes. Then again, I look at all the crazy and bizarre things that Oral Roberts has done in the past and realize both JMM and probably Grace church are offshoots of his ministry.

Just reading this, even tho there's not so many words, is sickening.

Will an IL "Legal Eagle" help me here. I know there is a moratorium for the death penalty in our state for existing convictions.

I was under the understanding that the legal system could still seek the death penalty here in IL, but until the moratorium is lifted by the current governor nothing will happen. If ever a case called for the ultimate punishment, this one would.

Perhaps someone could enlighten me....

Honestly to me they both sound like a cult IMO.
