Sheri Jo Elliott 16 y/o shot 1983

Hello fellow sleuths. I feel attached to this case for some reason. This poor 16 year old girl was friends with my mother and knew my father's side of the family as well. In 1983, she was taken or offered a ride from the bus stop in Flint Michigan.
She was later found in Caro MI with gunshot wounds to her back. She had been sexually assaulted.
Please help bring this poor girls case to light.

• Sheri lived in Flint, MI with her mother and stepfather.
• Sheri disappeared on November 16th 1983 on her walk to the school bus around 6:30 AM.
• Police initially believed that Sheri was abducted, but in later articles, family say Sheri wouldn't have gotten into a car unless the driver was atleast an acquaintance of hers. (She could've been forcefully taken, though.)
• Sheri's body was found four days later, Saturday November 20th, by a muskrat hunter. She was located beside a water draining ditch along Mueller Road in Saganow County's Bloomfield Township.
• An autopsy showed that Sheri had been alive for three days after being abducted. Police believe she was held captive somewhere.
• Sheri was sexually assaulted and there was "ample DNA evidence."
• She was shot four times "with a small calibre weapon."
• As of 2002, Police had no suspects.
