I'll be honest....it really sounds like they believe there to be a second suspect. I have my doubts but from what I am still hearing from friends/family....it sounds like they really think he's still on campus. Reading on Twitter and people are RT their friends' tweets from on campus and some are actually a little scary. Students are definitely still barricaded in buildings on campus.

Most recent from my cousin on campus: "We are not moving they said it might still be a couple hours."

Reports of "All Clear" on campus? I haven't heard this first hand yet, just heard it on the news!?

Nope.....CONFIRMED! Loudspeaker said "All Clear"! :)

Only one part of the campus declared all clear, per Fox news

I am hearing this too...one of the people I follow on Twitter said this: "we havent been cleared. have friends in business, engineering & alumni not cleared to leave right now."

This really could have been a lot worse today. So thankful that everyone is okay!

From another "friend" on Twitter: "**CORRECTION** Only buildings in the North end of UT campus are cleared. Central campus still on lock down."

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all of the up-to-the-minute reporting. I've been following along all day and really appreciate all the information posted.

I'm also hoping everyone's okay in the gunman's home and the surrounding area, wherever that might be. Remember, Charles Whitman had already killed two people before he climbed the tower.

DailyTexan (on Twitter) reporting: "Although the "all clear" has been sounded, people in buildings still being swept through by SWAT are expected to sit tight."

Also hearing that shuttle buses are being brought in for students to get off campus.

Just wondering....seems that it is over and so happy again that everyone is okay but WHY give an All Clear if some buildings are still on lockdown? I don't understand?!

Didn't think of that....I watched a documentary on him a year or so ago. Just moved from Austin a few months ago but most everyone there knows the story. I pray that they are okay as well!? Yikes!

I wonder why the gunman showed up on campus with a gun and committed suicide if by all reports I hear, he wasn't shooting at others? I wonder if the rumors about it possibly having to do with a speaker that is supposed to be on campus tonight are true? The speaker is supposed to be talking about concealed handguns on campus?!

Apparently back in the '60's UT Tower massacre, Whitman had killed his mother and wife first, right?

Two students on Fox News said that the gunman looked at them (they were behind a window) and waved to them as he was walking by.

Yes. Also the dog in each house, if I remember correctly.

From what I remember, he killed both his wife and HER mother. He was really abusive towards his wife from what I remember as well. I think he killed them the night before as well since he wrote about his wife in the past sense when he wrote in his journal the night before the shooting.

I think that's right anyway....been a while since I saw the documentary.

It was his own mother.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man wearing a ski mask opened fire with an AK-47 inside a University of Texas library Tuesday morning, then fatally shot himself, police said.

Police ended their search for a possible second suspect early in the afternoon, saying authorities believed the gunman was a student at the university and that he had acted alone.

The nearly 50,000-student campus — whose clocktower was the site of one of the nation's deadliest shooting rampages four decades ago — had been on lockdown while officers with bomb-sniffing dogs carried out a building-by-building manhunt.

Campus police spokeswoman Rhonda Weldon said a man fired an automatic weapon on the sixth floor of the Perry-Castaneda Library, then shot himself dead. Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said the weapon was an AK-47.

Shooter acted alone at UT, officials say

An official with the Travis County Medical Examiner's office has confirmed that Colton Tooley, 19, was the gunman involved in the incident at the University of Texas today.

Austin police and crime-scene officials are moving in and out of a house in the 3200 block of Western Drive in South Austin, just north of William Cannon Drive near Brodie Lane.

According to public documents, Tooley lived in that home.
