omg i love block island! my cousins used to live in Rhode Island and we would go there when we went up to New England. what a beautiful place for a wedding, and congrats!!!!!!! maybe you will have some grandbabies soon!!!

thats great that the agency called. i'm sure they will be able to place you somewhere. the fact that you are experienced will only help. and sometimes temp positions can lead to full time positions. fingers and toes crossed! keep us updated!

Mollyandme, I have 6 grand children already. LOL All set in that department

i highly recommend kava kava, it's stronger than camomile, and yes valerian can give a hangover feeling. the reason I like the kava kava (and i use two tea bags) is that it completely relaxes you and makes you sleep, or if you just use one tea bag you are relaxed yet totally functionable. kava kava is basically what many cultures use for anxiety. i believe it works on the GABA transmitters the same way a benzodiazepine would. If you want to try it, it can be hard to find in stores so I would order it from the Yogi Tea brand on Amazon. it's fairly cheap too

Hmm, I am going to look into that and it safe too, correct?

I went into peri early (in my mid 40's), I tried all the OTC things, didn't get any lasting help with the hot flashes (my main problem peri and post meno), black cohosh worked for a few weeks but then either they got worse or it helped them feel worse, I spent an entire summer nearly nude (and no, hub didn't take that as any kind of fair trade off lol).

I bought one of those hot/cold long tube-shaped things with the beads in it that you can either heat in the mic or put in the freezer, kept it in the freezer and put it around my neck when I went to bed, it helped a great deal with the night sweats (or at least helping me get to sleep), it stayed cold for a good hour or so, felt wondeful.

Now that I'm approaching mid-50's the night sweats are mostly gone but the flashes still persist throughout the day (yeah, about a dang decade), I gave up on any treatments, just try to stay hydrated to make up for the moisture loss in sweating and try to keep up with vitamin/minerals. It's heck being a woman, the fun just never ends. ;)

If you talk with your GYN, and they are open to it, you can get a hormone cream that you apply to your wrists in a tiny amount. It is made by a compounding pharmacy. It is safer than taking estrogen supplements by mouth if you choose not to go that route.

I have friends that do the hormone replacement pellets that are inserted subcutaneously. They swear by them. They have no hot flashes and sleep like a baby.

Thank you for sharing these. I got really teary at the one with your husband and daughter. That pic said a thousand words. Love was so apparent and beautifully captured. The pics are gorgeous. :seeya:

Your welcome. Everyone has been saying the same thing about that picture and everyone was crying when it was taken. He is that way with all his girls. He is just a loving guy. He would give them the world if he could.

Oh how I wish Zuri, I'd never been able to take birth control pills (made me feel like I was walking on another planet at even the lightest strength) and had my tubes tied in my early 30's. I've noticed the last couple months my armpit/leg hair beginning to grow much slower and thinner, maybe I'm going unisex and all this sufferage will just be a long, bad memory. lol

There is something special about the bond between fathers and daughters. My husband only had a brother and his brother has 3 sons. My daughters were the only girls in 2 generations. The bond between my husband and daughters is so special. My husband is very even keel and not very emotional. (I make up for that). My youngest daughter was away for fathers day so she texted her dad a pic of them together and wrote that he was her hero and how much she loved him. He showed me the pic and he was choked up and his eyes were glassy. He was truly touched.

I couldn't take them either. The cream works differently I guess because it is topical. And yes, your testosterone levels drop and hair growth diminishes. Hopefully, you will get through your personal summers soon.

We had a very exciting few days. Yes, it was cold on the beach. Hubby and I went to Block Island on Tuesday. We met my oldest daughter and her boyfriend up there. 2 more of our daughters met us there for dinner. What a surprise and shock when our daughters boyfriend told us they were getting married the next day. We did not believe them and thought we were being punked as they have been together for 13 years.
We had nothing but beach clothes and had 3 hours of the evening to shop:scared: Finally got what we needed for the next day. Flowers were bought and something new for the bride. She looked beautiful and her boyfriend, so handsome. They got married at the Southeast Light House. They planned everything including a wonderful dinner at the Atlantic Inn. They did the planning all within the last two weeks and kept it a secret and her gown was beautiful. It was amazing.

How exciting! Congratulations to you, your daughter and new son inlaw.

I have only one child, as son. A few weeks ago, I told him when it comes to getting married, my advice would be to elope. I never got married and have not been a big fan of weddings. The expense, planning and anticipation of the day are overwhelming. I've been in a few weddings and the day ends up being a blur in my memory.

I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I would much rather have a simple wedding with close friends and then celebrate the occasion with a big party afterwards.

I will join you in the minority. My wedding had 170 guests and I was so busy running the wedding that I didn't get a chance to enjoy it. I wanted to make sure everything was perfect and people were having a good time. Which they did. So did my husband!

I agree. It is very stressful to plan and I am speaking of my own. Daughter and new son in law made it fun...a little bit crazy on such short notice but fun none the less.

Ricki, I just thought of something. Look around, or drop by with a resume around, small privately owned offices. Lawyers, doctors, dentists, even Patient First kind of places. Office skills and not being 19 and flighty are hard to find. Smaller offices do not pay as much as a corporation, but are usually in need. Sometimes they post an ad in the paper with XX amount per year - firm! Meaning, no negotiating, but it may be enough for what you need. The only benefit may be health insurance if looking at full time though. Small offices don't offer retirement, 401k, or anything else. If you can afford part-time, good for you! Wish I could.

Everyone else, I have a big list of things to buy now. Amazon here I come! (And puritan's pride for sales on vitamins and supplements, or iherb, or wherever else. Tincture, tea, or capsules? Got the kava kava tea on the list. :) )

Going to look at the juror info now.

This coming Sunday would have been Travis' 36th birthday.

The jurors sound okay with it. I wouldn't be called as I support myself on month to month basis, so no way I could serve on a long jury trial at $30 per day, paid whenever the State pays. One sounds happy to have served, that's great!

Thanks, I just got back from City Hall putting in an application and submitting my resume. So, the HR man said there were not many applicants but they have until August 8 to do so.

I would have been fired if I missed that much work time. The length of the trial was beyond crazy.

Good Afternoon to all!!! TGIF!!!

yea if you are in good health it's safe. i think you are supposed to avoid it if you have any liver issues and you should avoid it when you take a sedative b/c they both work on the gaba receptors so it can make the affect more pronounced. it's always better to buy tea in the loose leaf form b/c you get more out of it, but i don't have time for all that, and the Yogi Tea Bags work great for me. They are a good brand and have so many different teas. i would check it out!

The wedding photos are just beautiful, the couple, the setting. Thank you for bringing them here. I'm sure that event just made your whole summer!
