The wedding photos are just beautiful, the couple, the setting. Thank you for bringing them here. I'm sure that event just made your whole summer!

Thank you. It certainly was the high light of our summer. We love her boyfriend like a son. They have been dating since she was 18. We were wondering when and hoping that this would happen.

checked in to look for any arias trial updates - but I'm lost in a forest. :sigh:

Not sure what you are looking for, but there is no trial update. I think August 26 is the next status hearing. And then, I don't expect much. Check the entire Arias area for talk.

If I am wrong on the August 26 date someone will come around to state as much.

County Att'y Bill Montgomery's press release, brought on thread by ladonna, was most interesting. Of course, C.M. got it wrong or twisted it on purpose. We're forewarned about that lying mouth. It is apparent now that negotiations have been engaged for awhile. I'm practicing yoga postures, Defeated Tiger Couchant and meditating on a closed cabinet of cleaning supplies. Trying to brace for a resolution that does not include a jury sentence. I don't know why I'm so invested in a verdict from her peers but I am. She wouldn't be able to blame her fate on the sadistic prosecutors as she is doing now. Juan Martinez & Detective Flores would be fully vindicated. The trial would feel complete. Also, not fond of the ruses employed by her defense team, and her, and watching them triumph. The outrageous delays they proposed were transparently strategic, meant to weary and stale and ultimately defeat any prosecution. (Yes, I witnessed them exhausting the oxygen from the case. You probably did too.)

Does the Life Water Plea include lack of contact or not?

I think that would be a new territory for Juan, or anyone, to try to impose. Then, I would be happy.

Expecting suffering in the sand is not enough. Nor is it a guarantee.

Hey PSM, how are you? I am resting as the trip took a lot out of me. I should be fine by Sunday. Loved seeing my mom. It had been a year and a half since I saw her last. You really were the impetus to go down there. Thanks for your words about your mom. They really hit home.

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit with your mom Zuri. We don't appreciate them nearly enough until they're gone. Her mom, my dear grandmother, lived to be 98! Unfortunately my mom had cancer, so she did not live as long. :( We only had a week between when she was diagnosed, and when she passed away. It was the week before Christmas. I came home from the hospital after being up with her all night, and had to put up the Christmas tree for my kids. It is still not my favorite time of year.

Rest well my friend, long trips do take their toll. :seeya:

Yes, unfortunately that is me. I hate the camera and the camera hates me.

When I went to look at my email, I noticed this news announcement about an execution of Andrew Lackey in Alabama. Some say he was mentally ill. Aren't all murderers mentally ill? I think they are.
=========================================================

Even though he had not exhausted his legal appeals, according to court records, Lackey wrote to the Alabama Supreme Court last year requesting that his death sentence be carried out.

The prisoners' rights group went to court to stop the execution. It argued that the judge should have properly evaluated Lackey's mental competency before permitting him to waive his appeals, but an appeals court allowed the judge's ruling to stand.

Last words: 'Let me pray for you'

Newman's last words were part of shocking testimony in Lackey's 2008 trial, when his voice could be heard on a recording of a 911 call he made after Lackey broke into his home on Halloween night. Over the open phone line, Newman could be heard trying to calm Lackey, who was a close friend of Newman's grandson. Newman could be heard on the tape saying, "Come sit down and let me pray for you."

In addition to his stab and bullet wounds, Newman also was bludgeoned and had an eye gouged from its socket.

"He said he ... wanted to go ahead and pay for his crime."

Lackey, incarcerated at Holman since his 2008 conviction, fired his court-appointed attorneys and represented himself in the July 16, 2012, hearing before Limestone County Circuit Court Judge Bob Baker. "He took the stand and explained to the judge why he wanted to be executed," Jones said. "He said he was remorseful for what he'd done and wanted to go ahead and pay for his crime."

Out of curiosity, did any of you ever do Glamor Shots?

I stumbled across some on BuzzFeed yesterday and had never heard of it...somehow managed to miss that fad, thank goodness. Had to laugh at the hairstyles, filtered lenses, outfits and poses.

Nope, no glamor shots, just bad shots. :floorlaugh: I did have the big 80's hair though. What I call the "poodle perm". :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

Evening, my princess :seeya:
None for me, either, but I remember when they were popular.
