Let me be clear though... I wasn't a short order cook! I cook almost everyday, eat it or don't. I never cooked alternative meals. I never tried to convince anyone to eat.

I also did 9 years of fostercare.

Never had a truly picky eater. As soon as children discovered its a non issue to me if they eat or not ... They all ate.

my 2 year old is at a very picky stage. all she wants is cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, cereal, cookies, or watermelon. i started making her this crock pot pizza recipe that uses bisquick so its easy for her to eat, but that's about it. i always worry shes not getting the right nutrition. the hilarious thing is, when i feed my son, she always wants his baby food. hopefully this is just a phase

i like that philosophy!!!!!!! also, that's great that you did fostercare. i used to work in child welfare and i know how difficult the system can be on the children and foster parents. god bless you and those children were lucky to have you

This is a double post, also posted on the random thoughts thread, but today is my parents 57 th wedding anniversary. Married as teens and still going strong. I love my parents.

So cool! Happy Anniversary to your parents! :heartbeat: My parents married right out of highschool as well (1972) and they're still going strong.

That's so awesome. My dad passed away when I was 13, so my mom didn't have as many years with him as she would have liked. He was only 40 years old and had a massive coronary due to hardening of his major arteries to the heart. She never ever saw another man or remarried. It was such a lonely life for her after we left the nest. :(

This makes me so sad. My grandma and grandpa married when they were teens, had 6 kids. My grandpa passed away in 1985 and my grandma has been alone since. She's 80 now and still works, just to be around other people.

:floorlaugh:
I can't wait for the time when the only time I cook is to press the microwave button. :floorlaugh: I happen to like TV dinners (remember them?).

I eat a LOT of frozen dinners! I love to cook but it's just so much more convenient to throw something in the microwave for a few minutes. My dinners most nights are a Lean Cuisine or a bowl of cereal.

I fed mine and everyone else's exactly what we were eating at age two. A normal child will eat when hungry. They're two, they'll eat what you feed them.
If they refuse to eat lunch, they'll be REALLY hungry by dinner;) No normal child has ever starved to death because they refused to eat a meal or two.
It's only a phase because you have allowed it. Give the choice to eat or not to her. Not a choice of what to eat.

I like everything! (Almost)
My parents said, "you don't have to eat anything you don't like, but you must try it"

I told my son the same, he eats anything... And i do mean ANYTHING! Even gross stuff like muscles, octopus and snails!!!

My husband had parents that you had to sit until finished. That man still will not eat a single vegetable!

My older brother HATED vegetables, still does and he's 37 with kids of his own. Wait...he'll eat corn, but that's it. Growing up he would wad up his veggies in his napkin and stash it on the windowsill behind the table. I remember when my mom finally caught on and boy, was she mad! He got in so much trouble :floorlaugh:

Thanksgiving is our BIG family holiday. My mom would take along a baggie of hotdogs for my brother to eat when he was little because he was so picky. He still gets teased about it.

Most of the time, if a two year old does not like something, it has more to do with the texture than the flavor. Unless it has a really strong flavor, most toddlers will eat just about anything, including sand, cigarette butts, paper and whatever else might be on the floor.

My son never ate anything green until he went to London. Apparently the Brits know how to cook vegetables.

Karmady :seeya: nice to see you!

Do you ever go down to the courthouse? I've been thinking about you a lot with all of these motions and remembering how much of a help you were sneaking peeks at court doc for us during trial. Thanks a million!

For the other readers out there, I checked this book out from the library tonight and I'm already 1/4 of the way through it. SUCH a good book so far. It's by the daughter of the "Happy Face" serial murderer.

I thought Brits couldn't cook?

I am not sure. All I know is that at the age of 21, my son ate green stuff in London (salads, green beans and even spinach). I am just so glad he broke through the green food barrier.
