(That site has been responsible for way too much of my shopping expenditures over the years.)

wow Sloane is fantastic! What a bright career she has ahead of her. A world champ!

Why does CBS stop coverage at 6PM and it's not continued on ESPN? Will have to watch online tonight cause I ain't paying for it. :floorlaugh:

I don't know WHY they stop coverage either - Tommy Haas is playing now vs Youzhny, and sure would like to see him play!! What a Hunk!!! :blushing:

I take it you don't get the Tennis Channel?? Because TV coverage starts again here (Pacific Time) at 4pm on Tennis Channel - Djokovic vs Joao Sousa from Portugal and then followed by Jankovic vs Li Na (my Huz calls her Lena)!!

Too bad Sloane lost...

Niner, we have the Browns. :floorlaugh: :seeya:

I'm totally fine with her being locked up for life. I think my main reason for wanting the DP for her at this point is because I don't want her to be able to interact with ANYONE but guards.

If she gets LWOP she'll have to fund her appeals, correct? And if she gets the DP there will be mandatory appeals, state funded?

Do you think if the new jury is sequestered that this phase might move a little quicker?

Yes if Nurmi quits making mts. out of molehills. :banghead:

It's hard at times to think that just five years before I was born that the war in Europe ended and we dropped bombs on Japan. In 1951 the 22nd amendment to the US Constitution was ratified, color tv was introduced and Albert Einstein was still alive.

The tv is on and theres something about John Lennon and Mark David Chapman on and in 1951 Catcher in the Rye was published and Les Paul and Mary Ford released How High the Moon

and Imelda May redid it in 2010.

Hi, I remember the day they dropped the bomb. Plane was the Enola Gay. Next was Nagasaki. For all their atrocities they desrved it. Bombs brought them to their knees. My husband saw Nagasaki in 1953 there was nothing but stumps! I sometimes think my generation experienced the most, in a good way.Prop planes flying~ we could walk out on airstrip to meet people! I did when Joe came home..Einstein yes.So much.faster records 33 1/2 LP's. I still have Les Paul and Mary Ford. couldn't touch his playing with a 10 ft. pole, change in cars too..:seeya:

.and polio shots, "pizza pie" and the obligatory bathing caps!! LOL Thanks, Niner

What is your favorite CMJA whopper?

Mine is her bondage with twine story. Come on, you expect me to believe that? Fulfilling all kinds of fantasies with much planning and you decide to use twine for bondage in a little sex play? It scratched her wrists! :floorlaugh:

Maybe she should have tried silly string instead.

She couldn't remember killing Travis, where she tossed the gun, come on girl dig it up. :stormingmad:

Wanted to share this with you all - since we are talking about growing up in the '50s, as I did!!

A Stroll Through Time...

Remember when?? I still do!!

If you are old enough… take a stroll with me… close your eyes… and go back… before the internet… before semi-automatics and crack… before SEGA or Super Nintendo… way back…

I’m talkin’ about hide and go seek at dusk, sittin’ on the porch, Simon Says, Kick the Can, Red Light-Green Light. lunch boxes with a thermos… chocolate milk, going home for lunch, penny candy from the store, hopscotch, butterscotch, skates with keys, Jacks, Mother May I? Hula hoops and sunflower seeds, Whist and Old Maid and Crazy Eights, wax lips and mustaches, Mary Janes, saddle shoes and Coke bottles with the name of cities on the bottom, running through the sprinkler, bobby pins, Mickey Mouse Club, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Fran & Ollie, Spin & Marty… all in black & white.

When around the corner seemed far away, and going downtown seemed like going somewhere. Bedtime, climbing trees, making forts… backyard shows, lemonade stands, Cops and Robbers, Cowboys and Indians, sittin’ on the curb, staring at clouds, jumping down the steps, jumping on the bed, pillow fights, getting “company”, ribbon candy, angel hair on the Christmas tree, Jackie Gleason, white gloves, walking to church, walking to the movie theater, being tickled to death, running until you were out of breath, laughing so hard that your stomach hurt, being tired from playin’… Remember that? Not stepping on a crack or you’ll break your mother’s back… paper chains at Christmas, silhouettes of Lincoln and Washington… the smell of paste in school and Evening in Paris. What about the girl that had the big bubbly handwriting who dotted her “i’s” with hearts? The Stroll, popcorn balls, and sock hops… Remember… when there were two types of sneakers for girls and boys (Keds & PF Flyers) and the only time you wore them at school was for gym. And the girls had those ugly uniforms. When it took five minutes for the TV to warm up. When nearly everyone’s Mom was at home when the kids got home from school. When nobody owned a purebred dog. When a quarter was a decent allowance, and another quarter a huge bonus. When you’d reach into a muddy gutter for a penny. When girls neither dated nor kissed until late high school, if then. When your Mom wore nylons that came in two pieces. When all of your male teachers wore neckties and female teachers had their hair done, everyday and wore high heels. When you got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and gas pumped, without asking, all for free, every time. And, you didn’t pay for air. And, you got trading stamps to boot! When laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box.

When any parent could discipline any kid, or feed him or use him to carry groceries, and nobody, not even the kid, thought a thing of it. When it was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner at a real restaurant with your parents. When they threatened to keep kids back a grade if they failed… and did! When the worst thing you could do at school was smoke in the bathrooms, flunk a test or chew gum. And the prom was in the auditorium and we danced to an orchestra, and all the girls wore pastel gowns and the boys wore suits for the first time and we stayed out all night. When a ’57 Chevy {I had one!!}was everyone’s dream car… to cruise, peel out, lay rubber or watch submarine races, and people went steady and girls wore a class ring with an inch of wrapped dental floss or yarn coated with pastel frost nail polish so it would fit her finger.

And no one ever asked where the car keys were cause they were always in the car, in the ignition, and the doors were never locked. And you got in big trouble if you accidentally locked the doors at home, since no one ever had a key. Remember lying on your back on the grass with your friends and saying things like “That cloud looks like a…” And playing baseball with no adults to help kids with the rules of the game. Back then, baseball was not a psychological group learning experience-it was a game! Remember when stuff from the store came without safety caps and hermetic seals cause no one had yet tried to poison a perfect stranger. And… with all our progress… don’t you just wish… just once… you could slip back in time and savor the slower pace… and share it with the children of the ’80s, '90s, '00s and ’10s…

So who can still remember Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Laurel & Hardy, Howdy Doody and The Peanut Gallery, The Lone Ranger, The Shadow Knows, Nellie Belle, Roy and Dale, Trigger and Buttermilk… as well as the sound of a real mower on Saturday morning, and summers filled with bike riders, playing in the cowboy land, baseball games, bowling and visits to the pool… and eating Kool-Aid powder out of the envelope.

Didn’t that feel good, just to go back and say, YEAH! I remember that!!

{and again Thank you all for the birthday wishes - you all are a great bunch!!!}

:seeya:

Hi, I remember and I am soooo happy my son enjoyed this type of growing up, not sitting in a room playing video games. My husband worked 2nd. I used to take Joey and his friend to Metropolitan park, they'd fish in a stream and throw the little fish back. I'd sit there and read the paper. After he had the stroke I was REALLY thankful I spent more time with him and the He!! with the house!! :tears:

My fave moment from Trial was Juan having Jodi physically demonstrate how Travis lunged at her  She looked like a puppet. Especially when Juan (IIRC) told her twice stop telling and show me the linebacker lunge. She didn't seem to enjoy that moment :floorlaugh:

No, I don't get the tennis channel.

It was a great game! Serena is hard to beat, especially for a 20 year old. in a few years Sloane will be closer to the top, for sure. :) Serena will have to retire eventually. LOL

Where is everyone tonight? :scared: I've had my nose in a book all day and logged on hoping to hijack a nightly Sidebar party.

Sounds like a nice day M.

It really has been. The weather has cooled off a little (only 88 today) so I had the windows open. Camped out on the couch and watched Roseanne reruns while reading. Now watching Golden Girls and reading. :)

Got called in to work tomorrow...blah.

Delurk: the American BB creams are a ripoff of a concept that was originally Korean. I hugely recommend the Skin79 BB cream, the gold bottle, it's one of the original Korean ones and it's easily gotten for under $20 on amazon or eBay. It's been my go-to foundation for years now. Another brand is Missha. You can also get sealed samples on eBay very cheap if you just want to try it first.

Check http://www.makeupalley.com for reviews before you buy any beauty product. They've been around for like 14 years. :)

Add: I tried the Clinique CC cream a few days ago...doesn't blend well. Had the same experience with Tarte. Keep going back to skin79.

One more add: it doesn't trigger my rosacea.

Very cool, and thank you. I registered tonight at makeupalley.com! I have very oily skin so I'm looking for some matte coverage. The Garnier BB Cream made me breakout after only one day of using it. I have a very tight budget so I might just have to go back to my Cover Girl. Darn.

I use MAkeup forever too and did the BE phase too!

M, I just wanted you to know how much I respect you and admire you for reporting your concern to the parents and the police. I am bound by law with a duty to report since I am an RN. I would have done exactly what you did. What I find incredibly noble is that you didn't think twice and responded appropriately. Kudos to you.

Thanks Zuri! I'm actually a little stressed...was just sitting outside and the little man ran out into the parking lot again. The dad was standing by someone's car talking and didn't even notice. What is it going to take?
