Adding..at the risk of lecturing or stating the obvious... we have a two tiered system of Congress, meant as part of a check and balance system. Our House of Reps is controlled by Republicans at the moment, and the Senate is controlled by Democrats. If the two chambers can't agree, nothing gets done, no legislation can be passed.

Absentee mother to a cat. Would that be the cat she locked up for 2 weeks and did not feed? The cat that was shaking in fear when finally found. What a piece of work.

Then there was Doggy Boy that she kick, he moved a few feet (according to her, and he wasn't seen again), because she had to pick up her brother and sister's dirty diapers

Even all, ahh Kenise I hope your day got better, and PZM good vibes heading your way.

I am on day two of my husband and my brother's fishing tip to Toledo Bend, and nothing has happened yet..... something always happens. From plumbing, to a tree falling on the electric lines, and taking the neighborhood out all day, to delivering a baby, and my waterbed catching on fire. When my dad went with them he would joke and tell my husband to have all the power and water turned off until he got back home. So far, so good, I have three more days to go.

Newt Gingrich has been credited by many for the evolution of our current partisan politics. CBS put together a documentary of how this has evolved and it was very interesting to see the stark difference in how politicians reached across the aisle in the 1960s and 1970s compared to now.

My sister and I were talking earlier this evening and she is curious to know how this period in US politics and government is viewed fifty years from now. Our government cannot continue to function in this manner and something will bring it to a head, forcing change. Whether the populace demands that it change through the power of voting or whether is comes from a crisis on the economic front or national security, something will force the pendulum to swing in the other direction.

As for the government shutdown, it happens due to laws created by Congress and signed into law by the President. It's that simple. This current shutdown came about with stop gap legislation put into place setting a deadline to iron out differences. That deadline came and was re-extended without a solution. So the government has been shut down. What remains to be seen is if we default on debt. This would have significant global ramifications and I hope that no elected official is foolish enough to even consider this as a possibility.

Thank you Hope4More. You are brilliant. If I may be so bold though, our politicians are a tad less "disagreable". ;)

You are fortunate indeed, then. It is a bad time for our elected reps to be so rigid....so many huge and crucial events and problems facing us and the world. But, these are exactly the times when different ideas clash so directly.

I should clarify. Our government does have an opposition party that keeps them in check, but I have never heard of an impasse bringing the government to a halt. I can't even fathom the idea of it. I hope for the best for the people in the US. This standoff is not good for anyone.

Yes. The budget is always each party' s statement about their values.. what we should or should not fund, and how much each class of citizens should contribute. We've had stop gaps because the parties fundamentally disagree on these most basic questions.

If we can take the House's leader on his word-- and I think we can, he will not allow the US to default for the first time ever. I' m grateful for that insistence on sanity. :)

Well I was here. Everyone is leaving. I am furious reading about JA. asking to put it off and seal everthing. The people of Arizona are paying for this carp and they at least deserve to know!! Maybe nurmi figures he still needs the job.:floorlaugh: maybe a couple of her "dark secrets" came to light. I wonder what Juan has to say about all this. Then again he probably knows the reason. Being that DT. wanted this penalty phase put off until Jan., cant the Judge see what they are doing? or is she just afraid to act? IMO......:seeya:

I was woken from a beautiful dream, about our Caylee Marie! I have NO doubt that she is the happiest she has ever been! Going back to bed, with a big smile on my face, and a heart that is filled with joy! :blowkiss:

Maybe the defense is still trying to convince CMJA to take a deal? That could be why they need more time. Of course she will not, and who cares. More chances at a DP verdict. She really likes pushing her luck.

Thanks to all trying to explain the Gov. Shutdown. I still don't fully understand, but I understand slightly better. I am just not knowledgeable on the big Gov. stuff.

Everyone that is sick or not feeling well, I hope you feel better soon. Ricki -good luck, break a leg, fingers crossed, prayers sent, that the job is yours.

Happy to hear doggie and all floors are clean of mud. Mud tastes like dirt, I actually tried some mud pie when I was a child, lol!

Allergy season has started for Autumn. I have a big allergy question for anyone in the know.

I have severe skin allergies and usual nasal/eye allergies. My central air/furncae unit went out in my apartment due to leaking, the landlord is having someone work on it. My face is starting the blistering rash that makes me look like a Klingon (no joke) and scars, right between my eyes. It is because of the increased humidity and dustmite activity and the mold that is now growing on the firewall material inside the unit, where I put the air filter. Anyone know of anything I can safely spray on that material, that is non-flammable, and get rid of the mold?

Best of luck to you tomorrow.

Keep in mind that you are probably one of several being interviewed on a second round, so that you might not hear anything tomorrow. If you are the first in the seconds round of interviews, it could be a week before you hear back. When I've been involved in hiring, it was always a team decision where we had to agree and then once the decision was made, the whole pay issue got decided and we completed paperwork. Even in small companies, all the i's were dotted and t's were crossed to make sure that no hiring discrimination claims could be raised.

Its great news that you've got the second interview and I don't want you to feel down tomorrow if you don't hear back right after the interview.

Job offer, job offer, job offer. I'm chanting for you, Rickki!

Thanks gcharlie. I know the office manager said they did try hiring by a team vote once and that did not work out. They tried hiring an acquaintance once and that did not work out. I think I am to meet with the CEO and president. I appreciate the the warning. It's a nice, small company and I prefer to work in a small company that values their employees as well as their clients. This place seems like they do both. I hope I am not disappointed.

Just popping in quick before my sister gets here. She's staying with me for one more week, then moving in to her own apartment next weekend. Not going to lie, I'm enjoying her company.

The BEST scary movie I've seen is The Strangers. I own it and I've watched it over a dozen times, still scares the bejeezus out of me.

"The Strangers" Trailer (Better Lock Your Doors!) - YouTube

NO NO NO NO NO!

I love scary movies, but home invasion movies based on true events...NO! I'd rather watch Freddie or Jason or Michael slashing heads off right and left than watch something that could happen. And I like Liv Tyler....but NO.

hello everyone, haven't posted in awhile but wanted to give you all a quick update. the dr thinks im having a miscarriage. when i went for my ultrasound there was no heartbeat and the measurements weren't what they should have been. i go back tomorrow to make sure. haven't had any miscarriage symptoms yet but i think all the stress im under could be part of the reason. dr said if it is a miscarriage and my body doesn't handle it on it's own i will have to have a D&C which i really do not want. I find out for sure tomorrow. If it is not a viable pregnancy (which i have had a gut instinct from the second i got a positive test that something was wrong) then he will give me 2 weeks for my body to try to pass the tissue, then if that doesn't happen I have the D&C.

The weird thing is, I'm not that upset. Maybe that will change later but I know how common these things are and I know it happens at this early stage for reasons only Mother Nature knows. Now is not the ideal time for me to have another baby, my body isn't ready I don't think, especially after that c-section. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know. I will come back tmw and let you know definitively.

Do you see an allergist or dermatologist for your skin allergies? If so, I would ask them what to do. If you have any, any breathing problems, please get out ASAP.

When is the HVAC person coming? If it were me, I'd want to explain the situation to her/him and find out exactly what they were doing to treat the mold.

I can't visualize your heating unit, so I'm not sure what might work. Bleach is usually the best topical agent used to kill mold. My mom's condo ended up with a huge mold problem after her unit flooded from a plumbing leak. We had to have a mold assessment and professionals come in to remediate the mold. With her HVAC system, the air handler and interior duct work were cleaned with HEPA vacuuming following the heavy duty cleaning.

I'll take the other side of this and say that I have relied on the live streamed coverage so that I witness the court proceedings in their entirety without editorializing by media outlets or relying on reports that may be selective in what is reported, reflecting a bias.

Once I started watching the stream, I made it a point to sit through everything, just as the jury had to do.

I have learned much about the judicial process and this particular case by watching the trial, including inevitable tedium. It is not a TV show, nor is it entertainment, at least not to me.

Agree 100%.

This is my first trial that I've watched from beginning to end. Educational to say the least. If I had just watched HLN's coverage and opinion....well I'll just say that they are lacking. The "Defense" just doesn't want websleuth's smart sleuths tearing down the defense's defense and showing the lies and holes in their stories. I believe that they think everyone is dumb and will believe what they are told. And unfortunately many people will. I bet websleuth's scares the carp out of them! AND I think they have watched the trial back and saw how asinine and ineffective they were. That HAS to effect business and reputation. I wouldn't want cameras either if I were them.

I'm so sorry, Molly. Even if this isn't the "right" time, it will be heartbreaking. Been there done that.

I hope you are healthy and back to normal soon.
