Dawn dishwashing soap, cat litter, a can of Coke, baking soda, and WD-40 spray are just some of the common household items that can help break down or absorb the oil before it permanently settles into the asphalt. Works best on new stains, takes more work on older ones.

I did remove a large fresh stain by soaking it with kitty litter, then scooped that up; applied Coke and scrubbed a bit, the rinsed it all away. Did a great job.

Good luck --- let us know if it worked for you.
I've tried most of those.. wd 40 does not work! Will try Coke! Thanks ever so much. :)

Rear Window!!!

:tyou: I had forgotten about that movie! Great screenplay and excellent cast! I love James Stewart and Grace Kelly. Raymond Burr was evil and Thelma Ritter was spot on.

My mom used to love Alfred Hitchcock Presents. I'm too young to remember the series.

One of her favorite episodes was where the wife did in her husband with the frozen leg of lamb and then served the murder weapon to the police for dinner. Sounds like a good story and I'm sure Hitchcock did a good job of it.

I always liked Thema Ritter. She was a good character actress and didn't Grace Kelly look beautiful in her gowns?

Did anyone think "The Omen" was scary? The original one from 1976 with Lee Remick and Gregory Peck? The Rottweilers! OMG

Funny kid story (but maybe you just had to be there, lol)...

My mom raised my dear niece (she got custody at about 2-years old), and I helped. One day, we were all in the grocery store when my VERY prim and proper aunt (mom's sister) walked up to us, and started chatting with my mom.

I was really messing with DN while she was in the cart (prolly 3 years old?) and DN YELLED out AS LOUD AS SHE COULD "F&*K you Bobby!!!!!!!" WOW - we were all freaked out! (On a side note - She has been the ONLY person allowed in this world to call me anything other than Robin, my given name)

:scared: :scared: :scared:

Where the heck did she learn THAT word, and just WHEN to use it???????

Fortunately, at 35, she has outgrown that, lol. She is a school psychologist now... :)

I missed #1 and #8. Did not know the answer to #1 and could not remember #8. The rest were there like snap!

Kids today just don't know what they're missing.:floorlaugh:

Honestly, that is not true. This summer, we did have some fun threads reminiscing about growing up in that time, but there were some things about that era which were not so fun. The political and social upheaval were significant. I was only 12 in 1968, but I remember that year vividly with all of the violent events that took place. This was before cable TV and we did have breaking news throughout that year, including the assassinations of Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King.

In 1979, there was a TV movie or miniseries called Salem's Lot that starred David Soul, based on the book by Stephen King. It combined vampires and haunted houses IIRC. OMG, the tree branches and vampires out the window! I was in college at the time and there was a tree right outside my windows who branches scraped. I slept with the lights on for a week! LOL

LOVED the Omen, I think the kid was scarier, lol.

I had a Rottie for over 10 years and only ONCE saw her react towards anyone agressively (hair standing up on end and a growl). In fact, we had lived at our last house for over a year, Cassie got out, scared the Beejezus out of the neighborhood, I found her (two houses away), and all the neighbors said they didn't even know we HAD a dog, lol...

But she was the great protector of my DS! VERY subtly, she would ALWAYS be in between visitors and DS, always. When DS fell down she stood over him until he got up. Oh, and she loved cats?!?

They get such a bad rap...

Did not watch Salem's Lot. Must have been busy studying for the CPA exam...those years I did not watch much TV...either working or out partying.

Did anyone watch Dark Shadows?

I can remember rushing home from school to watch that program.

Barnabus and Angelique?

Out of the mouth of babes!
When he was 2, My son was on his scoot along fire engine and was ramming it into the slider. He would honk the horn and say Ah soul. My husband and I looked at each other trying to figure out what he was saying. Then it came to us at the same time. Needless to say, yes, it was me. I would beep at another driver and say "ah soul" except with a 32 year old accent. :floorlaugh:

What's your favorite Hitchcock movie?

Hard for me to say, but I do know that after I watched the Birds, it scared the beejeezus out of me to see crows on the school playground.

That movie was scarier than those slasher movies, IMO.

That's a tough one to answer. I liked any I saw, but when watching the shower scene in Psycho, all alone one night, I refused to get off the couch to go to the bathroom --- darn near had an accident waiting for someone to get home! The Birds was great, too. And then there was Blackmail, another good one. Can't think of one I didn't enjoy.

After the Omen, I have been scared of Rotties, no matter how sweet they might be. And this is coming from an owner of 2 huge German Shepherds!
