Hi, neesaki :seeya:

I'm doing good.

"Nothing noteworthy happening " :floorlaugh:

My life is basically the same each day (and I like it that way).

How's your life going?

Doing anything for News Year Eve?

:loveyou:

"Nothing Noteworthy", at least to report, huh? Uh oh..... :floorlaugh:

I'm doing well. Got a new Catholic Bible for Christmas, and am looking forward to exploring it, particularly the books that the Protestants had removed from the King James version. I've been Protestant my whole life, and come from a long, long line of Protestants, so my family, as in parents and siblings, and grandparents if they were living, would not take this lightly if they knew, lol.

I'm not sure about New Years Eve yet, there is a party to go to, but I'm not sure if that's what I really want to do. Haha, I guess I'm getting boring in my old age

So good to see you back on the thread again, you were very much missed. :loveyou: :seeya:

ETA: BTW, I don't guess you would know how to get in touch with Princess would you, we've all been quite concerned about her. TIA

I don't know how to contact my princess. She just may be very busy with more important things and will come back when she is ready.

Boring- you can join me in boring ('cause that's what I am :floorlaugh:)

Why have you decided to explore the Catholic religion- just curious, are you?
(I'm just being nosy- Nosy thing that I am.)

I am doing nothing on New Years myself. It's what I always do now. It's part of the "boring life". :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

Morning m :seeya:

So glad you are not drinking and trying to get healthy- both in mind and body.
I don't drink myself, although I do like a Brandy Alexander or a Khalua and milk once in a while. :blushing:
But I do smoke.
I have to lose some weight also- it will help with my achy bones and joints.
I have learned not to make New Years resolutions- I don't keep them! I have a weak mind.
But your resolutions sound attainable.
I wish you luck with them and will pray for you. :blowkiss:

Maybe we should Prancersise??? :floorlaugh:

Evening gramma :seeya:

So sorry about your painful hip and folding knees. Hope they get better soon.

Hope the holidays were good for you.

If I may answer the question about the names of the books left out:

A popular misconception is that the King James Version of the bible does not include the Apocrypha, what the Roman Catholics call the "deuterocanonical" scriptures. However, the King James Version - the translation, that is - actually includes all of these scriptures and several other scriptures as well.

The books called Apocrypha, which includes
1 & 2 Esdras
The Prayer of Manasseh

These scriptures are not included in modern Roman Catholic bibles. Although they were included at one time, the Council of Trent determined that they were not inspired and so could be omitted. The first Roman Catholic English translation - the Douay-Rheims bible of 1610 - included these scriptures in an appendix.

P.S. Forgot to mention - the *reason* that we don't see these scriptures in certain "Protestant" bibles is that Luther deemed them uninspired (along with James, Esther and Revelation). Later Protestant groups felt more strongly about them. According to the Harper Collins Bible Dictionary, the Puritans were the first group to produce a bible that actually omitted the Apocrypha (in the late 1590's). The practice spread from that time to other Protestant sects (not all!) and to other countries.

---------------------------------------
I came upon a Bible that is called "The Complete Bible."

In the OT section there are 53 books.

5 books are called "The Pentateuch."
12 books called "The Historical Books."
5 "Poetical Books."
17 books of "The Prophets."
and 14 books called "The Apocrypha."

The NT section has the same 27 books in it.
With the OT and the NT combined the "Complete Bible" contains 80 books.

7 more books then the Catholic Bible has.
14 more then the Protestant Bible has.
---------------------------
Hope this helps (I'm not an expert on the bible tho') and that this answer is not something that WS will ban.

:seeya:

Growing up, my religious experience was what I guess might be described as quite negative, abusive in some ways. I have never felt very comfortable or enlightened since, in any of the churches I've attended, which were several over a period of years.

My son is converting to Catholicism so I have attended mass with him a couple times and I really like it. It seems so thorough and precise, yet comforting, and uplifting. I love to listen to the priests and the 'chant' like tone they use. There's just something about it that appeals to me. And it's much different than what I grew up with, which is also what I need to get away from. So I've decided to explore it further.

It's ok to be 'nosy' YesorNo, you are a Sleuth after all. :loveyou:

Hi Nore, I'm sorry you're having trouble with your hip and knee, you be careful and use that cane now.
I'm very new to this, but the books that I'm aware of that were removed but included in the Catholic version, are:
Tobit, Judith, Wisdom of Solomon, Ecclesiasticus (Sirach), Baruch (includes the Letters of Jeremiah), I and II Maccabees. I think this is correct from what I've read, though maybe there are more but I'm not referencing my Bibles at the moment to be sure. :seeya:

Kimster just posted a thread about PrincessSezMe and why she hasn't been around. I know she was a big part of the Travis Alexander case here and I know ya'll have been wondering where she was.

I am so saddened to learn that passed away at the end of October. When I think of the members of the sidebar crew here, she is always one of the ones that I thought of. My condolences to her family and also to the many WSers on this thread who spent so much time conversing with her during those long days and weeks of the Arias trial.

OMG- my princess is gone. I hope she didn't suffer.
I know she was very afraid before her operation.
I will miss her terribly.
May she dwell with the angels. :please:

Oh no no no no. Not PSM. She was so scared about her operation and had reached out to me. I am simply devastated. Her poor boys. She was so concerned about them. I adored her. We all did. May she rest in peace. This is devastating.....

Sad, sad day here at WS. :(

She was so afraid of what she might be facing. Who could blame her? Did she have concerns about anesthesia? Does anyone remember the exact date of the surgery? Last message I got from her was in early October.

This is devastating... Dear Princess, so she had reason to be afraid. I personally don't trust doctors or hospitals, so the first thought I have is, what did they do to her ?
