When he says a rift between counsel, he is referring to Arias who is serving as her own counsel and himself. Nonetheless, he is not under Offices of Public Defense Services and other members of the team are, so as you say, there may indeed be dissension now between Nurmi and directives and permissions from those offices. But beside that, he is at odds with Arias herself and what she particularly wants to do.

Further, he is well aware that Arias wants to see the back of him and he makes clear that this is mutual antipathy. Nurmi's ideas of how to proceed conflict with the plans of Arias. He is a free agent with his own ideas.

Thanks Tuba,
l would like to know in what areas they disagree precisely, since during the first trial it appeared to me that he was in full control and planned her many days of drawn out testimony. I have read her reasons for wanting him off the case but her writing and thinking are so insane, all I could deduce fom her is that Nurmi was not drawn to her the way men previously were. I suppose because of lawyer/client confidentiality we will never know the whole story. When the trial is over and transcripts of the ex parte hearings are released, we will know more then. I do not care if he goes or not, and if so then good for him. I just don't want that to be a reason for another attorney to be appointed and the trial delayed.

Glad you all are here. My brother was murdered at this very time 32 years ago. It seems like yesterday. Thanks for supporting me like you all have. You are the kindest people in the world. Xoxo

Oh Zuri, I am so very, very sorry. No one should have to go through that.

Yes, Zuri, thinking of you. I cannot imagine the pain. Frankly, hope I will never have to.

Did it cause the break? I didn't read that but after reading the whole document, I didn't see a good reason for him to be removed at this late date. But I sure can understand how he would feel that way.
AZlawyer had said that there must be a lead counsel and a co-counsel. If he is removed, another attorney will have to step in. This will cause a further delay. I admit it's a mess but shouldn't they all be forced to complete this trial?

While she's acting as her own counsel, she doesn't need both a lead and co-counsel advisory attorney. But I would think the judge would want a lead and co-counsel team standing by and prepared in the likely event that Jodi gives up on her new attorney career halfway through the penalty phase retrial. And really, no one but Nurmi and Willmott are prepared at this point.

"She does know that, you know, she does need to pay for the crime," Campbell said. "But I don't want her to die, and I know that she has so much to give back."

When reading that, all I can focus on is how much Jodi DID have to give back; viciously stabbing Travis IN the back, that is. When it comes to stabbing and cutting, that woman is just full of gifts to give with that extra-special Jodi flair.

Susan Polk became her own lawyer in her second trial (the first ended in a mistrial when the wife of her attorney, Dan Horowitz, was brutally murdered). SP quite clearly had some personality disorders, but that doesn't mean she was mentally ill (although her own son, on the stand, stated that she was "Cuckoo for Coco-Puffs". Cameras were not allowed, but we got a lot of info from the courtroom. Her constant refrain was Prosecutorial Misconduct. Over and over and over again.

I suspect CMJA will also be using that phrase on a regular basis.

Isn't it just beyond ridiculous that a woman who butchered a man to death (and her at-the-same-wave-length friends) can even talk about her giving back, helping, donating, teaching etc.? Since when are bat***** crazy women qualified to help others? What a preposterous idea. What world does she live in? Might as well have asked Ted Bundy to help us with world peace and chastity!

There is no time schedule when it comes to feeling loss because the memories or your brother follow you forever. He is with you now and he will be with you wherever you go.

I'm thinking of you this morning, Zuri.

"Ed Nelson, a character actor with scores of film and television credits who was best known for portraying Dr. Michael Rossi on the hugely popular 1960s ABC primetime soap opera Peyton Place, has died. He was 85.

Nelson died Saturday in Greensboro, N.C., his daughter-in-law told The New York Times.

Nelson played Rossi, who arrives from New York City in the very first episode to set up his practice in the titular small town, on Peyton Place, the first primetime serialized drama on U.S. television..."

Thank you AZlawyer for making that clear to me. I misunderstood you before. I see how a court must by law allow someone to represent themselves. But knowing full well she is not an attorney, I understood she needed both back up attorneys advising her at all times. That places a lot of responsibility on Wilmott if he does leave. I believe JA will give up at some point so if Nurmi isn't there, the trial would be delayed then for another attorney to catch up. That seems unfair to the victims family. I don't know law but I hope the judge doesn't allow Nurmi to withdraw. JMO.

Yeah i do remember that one now, but only because of the tragic murder of Mrs. Horowitz. That was so sad. I wonder what happened to Susan Polk. I guess she is in prison?

It was so odd when during the trial everyone would stand for the jury and Arias would monitor them so closely as though she was the Judge and they were the defendants. And she'd observe them, excitedly talk to Willmott and make notes.

Do you guys think that Arias only wants to be attorney for the jury selection and will go back to having Nurmi and Willmott represent her after that's over? Remember how she prayed to have the right jury last time around? This time she is planning on preying (ha ha) on them. I think she plans on extensive questioning bordering on interrogations during jury selection. She will want as many older men as possible. (No offence to older men but that's her possible strategy...I'm surprised she hasn't hired Cheney Mason who would go along with all her crazy strategies.) Potential jurors will have the opportunity to see her in all her arrogant glory even before trial resumes.
