Nurmi received the 'pedo letters' in an anonymous e-mail, I *think* (no cite to back it up) that it was alledged that Matt McCartney was the sender of that e-mail, when MM was deposed JM warned him that if he tried to testify that he would be charged with perjury before his feet hit the floor. JSS disallowed the e-mailed pedo letters as they were only in electronic format, no hard copies, and no way to verfiy the writer, that they looked cut and pasted/forged was mentioned but I did not see that in any official form for their disallowance as evidence in the trial.

I believe that was because it was in a closed hearing and the records were sealed. I could be wrong but I believe that is why we have not seen them any reference to them from the court. It really is something that JA does not want to bring forward because I would think it would go against her. It's as if she keeps killing him over and over by trying to tarnish his reputation. Plus the letters have nothing to do with her sentencing or why she killed him. jmo

Just reading that article brought back memories. The killer is a real piece of work. Demanding that anyone come see her to "fix this" before they are interviewed further. Seems she has a real hold on men, well her ex boyfriends anyway. Don't get it at all.

And please remind me. Who was Ann Campbell? Was she the first mitigation specialist and therefore had to resign due to being caught up in this? Article says she was a friend to Arias.

I do remember examining the magazine margins and reading the message in sequence. There is no doubt that she was advising her cohort what she wanted him to do. It wasn't even that well disguised. When discovered, her magazine privileges were taken away.

When we come to the pedophile letters, you may recall Mrs. S. Arias shopped them to the tabloids, describing them as copies & all that existed. The tabloids dismissed them out of hand. There were no authentic originals.

Woohoo! We had a very cold winter (for Texas) followed by the best Spring I think I've ever had down here, I'll be looking so forward to a real Fall, even if we have to endure another cold winter, and possibly another excellent Spring.

hi Geevee I am still waiting for a decent summer.. Still the warmth we've had feels good. I hope Ohio is in on the midwest.. It was so cold here last winter, way below O...We lost all sorts of trees bushes ,flowers, everything. we have heard no crickets yet. They are supposed to start chirping 6 weeks before winter...Ahem! I wonder if the reluctant defense witness who does not want to give a deposition is Matt? I would think JW and KN would have been on of the witnesses they did not want to call that Jodi would have wanted. I do not think he would make a good witness for her at this point. jmo

I believe the "reluctant" witness could be anyone and everyone who ever knew her. I still believe a lot of people are afraid of her.

A minute entry last month referred to the witness as "D.R." I've forgotten a lot about this case...anyone with those initials?

Trial Diary Jen reported that when this initial subject came up in court, Nurmi indicated that it was an expert witness.

I have speculated that it was ALV, but given the number of expert witnesses they hired, but did not use, who knows?

There is no way D.R. stands for "Defendant's Request." In the context of the phrase "Defendant’s Request for Deposition of Witness D.R." it is clearly the initials of a witness. Also it makes very little sense that it would be an expert witness, because she wouldn't have to make a request for that.

ETA: Unless it's an expert witness who has quit the case.

Far be it for me to contradict those educated in weather sciences, but my cats (2) have extremely thick coats since mid July. They are getting thicker. Doesn't generally happen until September or so. Usually foretells a harsh winter ahead.
