Yep, the judge might be caving to the killer's demands. But maybe...just MAYBE...the continuance to the 22nd is so that witness JA claimed she could not meet with before the end of August can appear at least by phone. JSS said since no proof was provided that JA could not meet with this witness sooner she wanted that person in court on the phone (if not in person) at the next hearing. And that is the 22nd.

Also, it seems JM wanted to speak with MCSO officials re Jodi's claim that it was their fault she could not do things (meet with potential witness, perhaps?) in a timely manner. Sounds like JM is not willing to simply take Jodi at her word. Imagine that.

This is a good post krkrjx. You are giving the judge the benefit of the doubt. I respect you for that. My anger just won't allow me to be so kind at this time.

Missy's :jail: Tweet for today:

Jodi Arias Updates @JodiAnnArias · 1h
Have a nice day.

:gaah:

:princes:

:princes:

:princes:

Did she really say this? What does this mean? 'See, I will torment all of you as much as possible. Have a nice day.' ??

I am honestly scared that if this Judge is allowed to decide the punishment that she will choose life with parole. That scares me out of my mind.

Rose,

I TOTALLY AGREE !

JMO ... but I do NOT trust JSS to make the RIGHT decision as to the punishment JA should receive for the horrendous murder of Travis !

:moo:

I am fuming right now. I cannot even express in words the raw anger I feel at this injustice. I feel so bad for Travis' family.

Hi mods,
where did the thanks button go? :)

:seeya: Hi CII !

Just jumping off your post here about the "thanks" button: Many times I hit "Thanks" and poof -- then I get some message but the "Thanks" is poof !

So this is a "Thanks" to all that I missed !

Why blame the judge for missy's:jail: sneakiness ways?

She has a constitutional right to represent herself and there's nothing JSS can do about that.

I'm sure JSS knows how manipulative missy :jail: can be and she is acting accordingly as these things come up. She can't just make snap decisions here
and that's probably why she is being careful about releasing Nurmi. I think she is seeing how missy :jail: is going to proceed.
As to the "ultimatum" of "release Nurmi and I will not represent myself", didn't she pull something to the effect, when she represented herself before, "give me 2nd degree murder or I
will smear Travis in court with pedophile accusations"??? She didn't get her way then. Lets just see where this will go before we condemn. have a little confidence in JM and JSS.

All just :moo: so don't :tomato: at me (yet) . :floorlaugh:

:seeya: YorN !

Do you know WHO is doing Missy's tweets ? TIA !

Oh, just curious, and I hope someone is keeping an eye on these person(s) who are doing this for JA ... KWIM ?

:waitasec: Remember JA's buddy Donovan ... :scared:

I don't really know, except could be her aunt Susan D Halderman- she's in charge of missy's :jail: so called "appellate fund".

Yes, I am giving JSS the benefit of the doubt. For now. I have seen some things in her courtroom that I did question and still do but I have yet to see this judge exhibit bias in a way that other judge in that other state with that other killer did.

I don't think there is LWP on the table for missy :jail:.

If the laws are changed in the future, it could be possible.

Jen is on HLN (by phone) right now.

After the gazillionth sidebar was granted in the last trial, I have had enough. :tantrum:

About half the people associated with this case have said that parole is an option and others say no. I wish we could know for sure.

I am so tempted to just let go and check back after a year. Who knows? Things might still be the same!

I thought there was the possibility of parole after 25 years.

Hopefully AZLawyer will be able to answer this question for us !

Is this a puzzle? Are you speaking of Anthony? I thought the judge was awesome.

So many of us agree.

The courts are changing the rules all the time. There should never be a question. She should never get out of jail.

Herein lies the problem. The judge should have made it perfectly clear that if she is granted her choice of wanting to be her own attorney, there is no going back and changing mind before, during, or after the proceedings.

I predicted a couple weeks ago that Jodi would try to change her mind once she realized how bad she will do. I never expected she would try to change her mind before we even get started. This is BS. I think the judge is not doing something right. I dont know what, but this crap should not be happening right now is all I know and it should have been prevented somehow.

The judge can't say "there's no going back," because the US Supreme Court says she can. At least once. :)

Yes, I'm not sure why everyone's mad at the judge about today's hearing. She didn't even make any decisions yet, did she? She is making sure Jodi gets to put on her "proof" justifying her delay request and she seems to be trying to keep Nurmi on as long as she can possibly can.

:tyou:

There is a "possibility" of parole, but as things stand now there's no procedure in place to ask for it and no one who is empowered to grant it. So the "possibility" depends on those things being in place down the road.

:tyou:

"...Arias, 33, has already been found guilty of first-degree murder, and there are three sentencing options: death, natural life in prison, or life with a chance of release after 25 years.

Under state law, prosecutor Juan Martinez and his boss, County Attorney Bill Montgomery, need a jury to get a death penalty.

They do not need a jury or an agreement from Arias to get a life sentence; all they need to do is drop the intent to seek the death penalty and the decision would then go to Judge Sherry Stephens. And in the unlikely event that Stephens were to impose a sentence of 25 to life, there is no longer any mechanism to facilitate a release short of clemency granted by the governor.

The option of parole for first-degree murderers was eliminated in 1994, although the phrase “life with chance of parole” has erroneously lingered in court parlance. And even the chance of “release” after 25 years has been eliminated for murders committed after 2012..."

Please don't misplace my anger and/or disappointment towards the proceedings today with any lack of confidence in Juan Martinez! If he would have had his way, she would have been on death row the day she admitted to slaughtering Travis.

This is why I would like all of us to see the trial firsthand and not be spoon fed by the MSM. You see it one way and I see it another. I am not condemning anyone but the killer. But I stand by what I said regarding today's proceedings and the way I perceive JSS.
