Jen Wood posted her HLN segment with Joey Jackson on Twitter. She complimented Nurmi for his efforts on behalf of the killer. This is something Arias never thought of doing with any sincerity because she is not grateful for his scores of motions and his representation. She also alleged lack of family support and neglect in her 2013 mitigation, again no appreciation only blame. (Yet when Sandy Arias is brought to her attention, she says, "I know, she's a saint.") But of course, this fits like the sheath of a knife with her absolute demand that other beings reproduce the precise imprint she exerts on them with her lies, her manipulations, her commands. If you do not, you are nil. I'm remembering how she would even carp at Juan, on the stand. She would correct what he had asked her and defend, justify how she answered something else, parsing and arguing. "You asked me why the rope was there, not if it was there."

AZ, I've read everything you've posted about her penalty phase retrial, but am still unclear about what to expect.

1. How do you know the recap of previous trials will take 2 weeks? Did Stephens make a ruling specifying that length?

2. Is the recap of first trial limited to the "circumstances of the crime," and if so, how much latitude does that give JA to bring up abuse claims?

Last, do you think she'll represent herself til the end or cave along the way? (Just curious about your opinion on that).

Thanks..

1. I don't. I don't even remember making a guess. :) I don't think they will go "recap first, then mitigation." It will just be a trial on mitigation, but lots of the evidence from the prior trial happens to be relevant to mitigation, and/or to balancing mitigation against the cruelty factor.

2. Anything can be raised that's relevant to mitigation. The abuse argument is certainly relevant.

3. I think she'll cave at some point, probably right about when JM starts making a rapid-fire legal argument complete with case citations and she realizes she has no clue how to respond.

AZlawyer, can Juan use the interviews with Dec. Flores when Sandy said that Jodi's friends would call and say she needed hep, and about the mood changes and her flipping out they endured? As in Jodi had issues , before she met Travis? and about Jodi rearming herself for a hunting trip with the five or six men. She was prepared to kill another human being with in a month of her murdering Travis.

I can't imagine why JM would want to prove that Jodi had "issues"--that's mitigation!

He definitely will not be able to bring up anything about her arming herself after she killed Travis, unless she stupidly says something like "I was so traumatized I could never touch another knife/gun." Anyway, it could so easily be spun by the defense into an unreasonable fear response brought on by PTSD.

We may see a hoof or hooves for a while before any plopping happens, though I hope she does not have to walk around for long like that.

FWIW...the deer video that I posted the birth of earlier today...hooves out 'till dropping was about 80 seconds from start to finish...multiply that by ....hmmm, let's see...giraffe are about 10 times longer than deer so.....

I'm trying to catch up on a week's worth of news. I read that there was court on the 13th and Arias asked for a delay in sentencing (of course she did). Is that hearing set for tomorrow or the 22nd?

I have resigned myself to accepting whatever happens. I get too stressed out wanting justice because it is too rare a commodity. We live in a world where some people get what they deserve and some do not, but beyond this world everyone either reaps or pays.

Jen's Trial Diaries @TrialDiariesJ · 29s

Word is #jodiarias cut and donated her long locks. We will find out this week.
---
Sounds premeditated to me! Wouldn't there be records of prisoners' activities while incarcerated showing when she got her hair cut and supposedly donated it to Locks of Love? Especially because this is one of her mitigators.

I hope the jurors are smart enough to see this for what it is. To me it would be similar to never showing remorse during weeks of trial but is suddenly remorseful during the penalty phase.

The 22nd is a continuation of the first hearing where she claimed not to have access to a witness. That witness must appear on the 22nd if not in person then by phone. It looks as though another hearing was scheduled for the 20th (tomorrow) and as far as I can tell, both are still on.

Oh LOVE the emoticon, YESorNO!! I wrote down the web site - do I have to "save" them on my computer in order to post those? or can I just copy/paste into the reply window?? :tyou: edited to add: just went to the website - do I need to "download" these?? I don't want to do that... Huz just cleaned my computer and don't want to mess it up by "downloading" ANYTHING!! LOL!

:welcome4: Fonda!

Yesterday went to get my PET scan, and the guy mentioned that on his report "they found 'something' on my bone"... :deepbreaths: :freakedout: but I'm :hanging: in there and will wait until my Sept 2nd appointment with the Dr.; hopefully, will NOT receive a phone call with drastic news...

Otherwise all is well here on the left coast!! Lots of sun :woohoo: about 89 today! :skip:

Can't wait until this starts... we will probably have a LOT of :judge: crossing my fingers and HOPING for a 15-minute delay; you KNOW Missy :behindbar wants everyone to see her show!

No baby giraffe yet?

:seeya:
Niner I have prayed for you about that PET scan, that whatever was on the bone is gone.

Jodi cut her hair? Well that is transparent isn't it?

I am anxious to hear what goes on tomorrow in the hearing. I know, not important but Curious minds wanna know. :)

JA cut her hair, but did she donate it? If she did, was the hair accepted by an organization? I would think the organizations want untreated, unbleached, uncolored hair. Natural hair needs no special care and would not change color or texture etc. after being made into a hair piece. So maybe, the hair that may have been cut, was tossed in the garbage.

I don't think her hair has been bleached or colored for a long time but I can think of other reasons for tossing it in the garbage.

I'm wondering if the one tomorrow is about her request to depose "witness DR."

Had forgotten about that, AZ. Could be. She's been claiming DR is a liar.

Pot, meet Kettle.
