I'd like to try and clear up something about the party numbers on the docket.

From what I can tell, party numbers will always been shown on the docket as 001 in a case where there is only one defendant. Using Arias' case number CR2008-031021-001 as an example the protocol seems to be as follows:

First 6 digits- Case type and year CR criminal, year 2008
Next 6 digits- Sequentially issued case numbers
Last 3 digits- Identifier for when more than one defendant is named in the suit, so that up to 999 defendants can be tracked in the system, all falling under the same legal action

In other words, all the 001 references under the Party Name column still apply only to the case and not the filing party. There is a separate column for the filing party which has only been used for pro se motions.

The identifier is used in the Party Name column on the docket when there is one defendant. For comparison, please see the docket for another case JSS is overseeing with two defendants, CR2011-005961. Even the headers on this docket are different, with Party Name absent. This information is probably entered into the court record system, but does not display on the docket.

Now that Arias is acting pro per, any motions she has filed on her own are distinguished under the Filing Party column on the right hand side of the screen. She is designated as Defendant (2)

Thank you. I thought 001 meant defendant. Glad you let me know. :)

No ma'am. :) I had plenty of criticisms during the trial, e.g., the insane number of sidebars permitted, not helping to control witnesses, and especially allowing the attorneys to argue a point of law to the jury during the "fixing" of the jury instructions instead of making her own ruling on the law and telling the jury what it was.

What I have defended her on is many of her rulings, not on her courtroom management style in this case.

The MCSC is not closed on Fridays. But many of the judges schedule other hearings on Fridays, and schedule hearings for the case that's on trial (issues that don't involve the jury) first thing in the morning and first thing after lunch.

The clerks seem pretty lax about the docket details in this case. Practically everything is listed as "Party 001" next to the title, and almost nothing has an entry in the actual column for which party filed something. I wouldn't conclude anything from the "Party 001" designation.
----------------------------

I did read those articles by the federal prosecutor. My thoughts:

1. A gag order would not have been a bad idea as the jury was not sequestered.

2. Forgetting to read a jury instruction is indeed unusual and not good.

3. The sidebars were out of control.

4. There truly was no way that JA needed 18 days to testify.

ETA: YesOrNo, for some reason I am not allowed to "thank" your posts anymore. But thanks for posting so many useful things!

Hi AZlawyer, thanks for setting me straight. I didn't know you had disagreed with JSS during the first trial. But I don't remember all the posts. I didn't mean to offend you either, I hope you know that. I just kinda figured since you may have to be in her courtroom at times, you would always speak well of her. I am glad you can see where she has made some strange decisions. :)

No I mean Judge Sherry Stephens. She ruled we can't see the trial. I hope she changes her mind.
I know what you meant but since Jodi appears to be controlling this courtroom, why not give her the honorary initials for the Judge. [emoji4]

Oh, I am really tired. I didn't catch that. Lol. You are right. The murderer is controlling the courtroom. judge JAA.

If one looks at MK journalistic phraseology and diction, it is very apparent he is tweeting for HEINOUS. There is little difference between his Twitter responses and HEINOUS tweets. Use of punctuation gave him away. Very disappointed...but now not surprised.

This too shall pass.

The question is when? I cannot imagine what it must be like for the Alexander family. Or for CMJA's family.

Hi yes or no. Hi Nore.
i did read Juan's Facebook page with that link early today. But I want to see Nores page with that letter from Jodi. That is the one I can't get on. As far as JMs Facebook page, I wasn't sure how to navigate around it.

You just scroll down the JM facebook page and read- nothing else to really do. If anything is "lit-up" , like this:

http://twitdoc.com/view.asp?id=9422...ou2&doc=139833553&key=key-2gxotllz9sge8erm21f

(which is the letter missy :jail: sent to JSS, way back when she was
bawling.gif
about Nurmi wanting to leave as her atty. in 2011, you can click on it

and it will open up in a different tab/page. When you are done reading it, click the X on the tab and it will close and you

will be back on the JM Facebook page. I don't think you/I can post as we don't belong to Facebook.

Glad your MD told you that there is nothing wrong with your kidneys.

:blowkiss:

Missy :jail: is going to be On Her Own, without Nurmi for an atty. and battling JM:

I'm really not sure how either work, don't care really. I don't post anything personal except a few names

FaceBook!!! I also don't spend enough time .Tough darts! Curious you are doing much better than I did..
Take care. hoping to live long enough for the penalty phase!

I can understand all the frustrations, but (and you may not like what I'm saying), even tho' the murderer is "the worst-of-the-worst", the laws must be upheld in order that there is justice for all (and that means for the $#%&# murderer, rapists, whatever, too). After all, we are not barbarians anymore (even if the offender may be/is) and every life is a life. The death of anyone at the courts hand must be absolutely valid- with all the dots doted and t's crossed- in all points (no matter how ridiculous they seem). A person is going to die here (even tho' that person has murdered). We are not murderers- just people who are looking for justice for the victim and his/her family. There must be procedures to go through (no matter how tedious they may be) because it's so important to be absolutely sure, best "we" can, (and by "we", I mean as American citizens), that all this is a valid conclusion in giving the DP. If it was my son on death row, I would want all the court proceedings, etc. scrutinized with a fine-tooth comb, before my son could be put to death.

I know it's really bad that all this takes so long (and is very taxing on the victim's family). I don't know the reason for that. It must be like living in limbo and it seems as if it's not fair.

Anyway- all my :moo: and you can say I'm blowing smoke out of my azz, but these are my feelings.

I understand your feelings. I guess some people's "fine toothed comb" is another's "impossible to fit an amoeba's microscopic non existent hair between the tines of that comb".

Is it reasonable to keep appealing on nonsensical issues for 25 years? I think no stone unturned involves all the stones on every planet of the galaxy in actual practice for the execution of this sentence in the state of AZ. I think any mother who had a child on death row would also want every single possible thing done to delay their death even if they knew their child was guilty. And would be willing for millions of dollars in taxpayer dollars to be used to delay their death.

Know what I mean?

The VAST majority of death sentenced murderers die of natural causes in prison.

I rest my case. ;)

PS. ALL of my posts are shared through the veil of the bias I own 100%. i don't pretend to be an unbiased journalist ahem, poster. I post from my unique lens and hope to educate on what the aftermath of a trial like this is really like but I know I don't have much objectivity and I"m ok with that. :D

Ok and now something I DON'T like about Judge Stephens…. I found this article online about one of her cases. A Mesa man ran over and killed a neurosurgeon and then drove off and left his body. His sentence? 90 days in jail and five years probation. Dang if someone were caught with a bag of weed they would get more time. Article can be read here: http://www.kpho.com/story/19966024/mesa-man-sentenced-for-running-down-neurosurgeon

Thank you for this! I found another article on this case.

" Judge Stephens gave Linsk 90 days in jail.

“While I believe you may not have known that you hit a human being, when you stopped your vehicle I believe any reasonable human being would have believed there was a good chance that they hit something and would have returned to the scene,” she said.

One week later, Stephens cut Linsk’s sentence in half, time he is now spending in the infirmary on his doctor’s recommendation."

You can read the entire article here:

Hi Nore,
Maybe because of her tweets and tv interviews after being found guilty, JM can use some of that against her in mitigation. Maybe her mouth will do her in. Yes it is filthy. She has used it in vile ways.

Yay, I finally got one of my computers working again. I have to work on the new one later. When I logged on to the computer I got many ads but re-installed ad block. I sure hope it works. Good morning to all.
