So there we were....2 young newlyweds preparing our very first Thanksgiving Dinner together.
A nice quiet intimate affair just by ourselves.

Things were going smoothly, as my wife was preparing all the side dishes like Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Gravy, Sweet Potatoes with Syrup, etc., while my main job was "The Bird".

We had a nice large one that I had pulled out of the freezer 3 days prior and had put in the fridge for 3 days. I had planned well, and knew it needed plenty of time to thaw. I had even torn off the instructions that come with the bird and had already read it over and over. Things were going well.

I washed the bird carefully and even knew enough to search for and find the giblets, goblets, and other strange surprises that were in all the orifices of the bird. Those surprises of course went right in the trash because we had no idea what else to do with them....LOL

Once the bird was thoroughly cleaned, I wiped it down with a nice coating of oil, and put it in a large pan and in the 325 degree oven it went. At the proper elapsed time, out it came.

FINALLY.
Everything is perfect. All the fixens and a hot steaming bird right square in the middle of our nice quaint kitchen table.

Then, as the man of the house (me...LOL), began to make that first perfect slice into the bird,
HORROR sets in!!!
I could not get the knife through??? WTH??? I tried off to the left, and same thing....Bone or something??? WTH???
Then, it hit me.....Could it be??? Yes, you fool.....you cooked the damn thing upside down!!!

Problem immediately solved, and we proceeded to have a great 1st Thanksgiving dinner. The only drawback with the fatal error is the other side was not a nice golden brown, but it tasted great all the same....LOL :)

I roast about four chickens a week in my showtime rotisserie. It makes the best roast chicken. It can also do up to a fifteen lb turkey. There is no basting because the bast itself as it goes around. I have cooked turkeys and chickens upside down before, you just have to flip it over to brown the other side with can be messy and not always wants to work.

I'm so glad you all mentioned The Bad Seed was on today! Was sitting here with super bad cramps, so it took my mind off of my pain:)
Interesting how brilliant the script was. I love the use of the word "specious." I always forget to use that word.

This is one site:
http://betweennapsontheporch.net/ I think the tablescape one is on her thread, as well as, mentioning others.
She is amazing. I wish I could afford to do all of this.
Let me know what you think. I didn't know if anyone would be interested.
Charter house, this site is awesome. I wish I could afford to make my home look like those pictures. I love websites like these. Thanks! And you are correct, Tablescape is part of her site. :)

For your Friday night listening pleasure, one of my favorites:
http://cherlove.net/video//watch.php?vid=e238920ff

I have seen Cher many many times. I was there for opening night of the D2K tour and this was only the second time I have heard her sing this song live.
I love it. I hope you do too.
Sorry for the interruption.

Yes or No,I tried to watch the YouTube video you posted with Jane Velez Mitchell interviewing Beth Karas. Jane, being in true form, would not shut up and let Beth even finish a sentence. I got so irritated, I just stopped it. JVM and NG have always done that. Don't kow why.

I love my showtime rotisserie. I did a 12 pound turkey and it was great. I always do my chickens using a rotisserie rub on them... they are so good. "Set it and forget it" is so true. :happydance:

After watching "The Bad Seed" earlier this evening, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Jodi Arias is an ADROIT liar :D

Is this movie on lifetime today?

Arias' former baby-sitter talked about how Arias, who was five or six at the time, hit her brother with a baseball bat. Her brother apparently let out a blood curling scream. ALV and Zervakos can deny it all they want but Arias has been a troublemaker for most of her life. There must have been plenty of 'bad seed' moments in that family.

Picture JA in braids age 6. When sitter asked what happened she says I don't know why he's crying.

Heebie. Jeebies.

I watched my DVR tape of it last night. WOW What a great movie.

There were definite parallels in Jodis attitude and the girl.

This movie was fantastic and well done. The ending was great and shocking. Without giving anything away, I will say that I hope the weather turns bad some day while Jodi is heading to court (***snicker***).

I love the way they allowed all the actors to introduce themselves at the very end of the movie. Wish all movies would do that.
