Just getting here- have to work this week. Can anybody summarize today for me? Was there court??

Yes court was in session today.

Started off with Nurmi requesting to remove media because a still photo was taken of CMJA during Friday's hearing after JSS said no pics to be taken.
It couldn't be determined as to when photo was taken, (if it was during court, during recess, sidebar..etc) so JSS denied motion.

Sounds like today was a frustrating day for those listening to the testimony. Witness seemed rather hostile and didn't like any of JM's questions and refused to give Y or N answers. (As it has been the norm for most, if not all, of DT's witnesses :facepalm

IMHO, JM slowly chiseled away at this witness' credibility, by proving that she was not given complete information, she only knew partial truths, and her opinion was already pre-biased based on CMJA's version of events. Instead of looking at the case objectively and offering her opinion on the facts presented, she took CMJA's testimony/story and tried to find evidence that corroborated this false version.
JM is doing a nice job of showing this with his questioning and, in my opinion, getting exactly what he wants out of this witness. Her hostile behavior proves that she is defensive about her testimony. If a witness is testifying to the truth and if an expert witness is testifying to the truth of their expertise on a case, they have absolutely nothing to be defensive about, simply because their testimony is their opinion based on the facts and nothing more. People get defensive when they are emotionally involved. Strange how so many of the DT's witnesses have this problem.

How sad to see this witness behave like a rebellious, defiant, juvenile in a court of law. And she considers herself to be a professional. Sacrificing her own dignity for what, a lying, convicted, cruel, slaughtering, murderer. Shame on her.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that happened. :yow: be sure to ice it and keep it elevated. Hope it feels better soon. Glad it wasn't worse, falling on tile hurts like the dickens.

Hi all,

I went out with our prosecutor Cathy Hughes tonite and asked her about her opinion of Judge Stephens. She said she never appeared before her and felt her reputation was, before this trial, someone who was liked and respected by both sides. She talked about how this high profile trial phenomena affects judges and referenced Judge Ito and how they kind of step outside of their normal way of doing things (ya think?) , about how all of her secrecy and kicking out the media stuff is "ridiculous". And that's about it.
The more interesting conversation though was when we were discussing which of my brother's Chorus concerts she wants to attend and one of her conflicts is a party that she feels certain JUAN MARTINEZ will be attending like he does every year. I was practically begging to be her "date" then realized it's conflicting for me too, with my brother's concert which i will be attending. Bad sister! Bad sister! I fell in to this begging right in front of my dear brother! lol
Other than that I bawled like a baby all through The Sound of Music. That Hills are Alive gets me every time..those nuns!

I have a 15-pounder that sprawls out on my lap and I have to try to type on the laptop over/around him. If Ransom posts, cat goes all squeaky at the chicken dance avatar. It's too funny.

Hm. For some reason this is sideways. I don't feel like futzing with it, so just imagine it's rotated 90° to the right so that my feet are at the top of the photo. Yes, those are my feet. And a little bit of my legs.

The rest is Basil. I adopted him about three years ago from the humane society. He had been badly abused and when I got him he was terrified all the time. He'd already been adopted once before, but that family returned him to the humane society after 2 months because he wouldn't play. (Well of course not! He was terrified!) He wanted nothing to do with me for about the first 6 months that I had him, so I just made sure he had access to the necessities and left him alone. I never saw him eat, drink, or use the litter box, I just saw the evidence. On the rare occasions when I caught a glimpse of him, in a bookcase (behind some books), underneath the couch, under a rug (!), I never went anywhere near him, but would read aloud from time to time so he could get used to my voice. Slowly but surely he started to become more confident and sociable. Once he realized that nothing bad was going to happen to him, he blossomed into a crazy-playful attention hog.

As I sit here trying to type, he's in the same position as in the photo above, just flipped around with his head at my waist. I'm holding my wireless keyboard at about shoulder height with one hand and typing with the other. He keeps swatting at me because it offends him that I would type when there's a cat right here that I should be petting.

Had my first ever sprains last year. Both ankles simultaneously. I felt I deserved some kind of klutz award, but all I got was a lot of pain, for a long time. I quickly became a whiz at wrapping ACE bandages. They made a huge difference. There are lots of how-to's online if you're a novice wrapper. Of course, check with a doc first about possible broken bones (or just flap your hand around and see if you pass out).
