My first following of a trial was on court tv. I don't even remember the names of the participants. It was something about falling down the stairs(being pushed) and a vcr. I can't remember the details or the names. But I have been a true crime fan way before that reading many books.

For those interested, there is a very active JonBenet site here on Websleuths. Come and join us.

The case that got to me the most was Casey and Caylee Anthony. I just can't get over that and never have been invested in another case since then to that extent. It seems that everyone always has that one case they never can forget. I am interested in the Travis Alexander trial but it doesn't get me like the Caylee Anthony one did. I just will not let myself get that invested again.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I ate way too much and it is diet time now.

I may be in a very small "camp" here, but I'm not too impressed with the Hughes', or how they have "handled" their part in this tragedy.
The words "tacky" and "opportunists" comes to the forefront.

But that's what I would expect from someone involved in MLM.

Just my opinion, y'all!

I was really disappointed too with the Hughes. I am thinking that texts/emails whatever were taken out of context. I hope so.
I cannot imagine them writing a book about Travis based on the texts/emails that Dr. Quacko read to us.
If I have details messed up, someone please tell me. I am having a hard time keeping up with all these delays and days/days/days
of Quack reports.

Jane the Dude, YES, thank goodness for WS! :-) I sure hope you and your hubby will be feeling better soon.
Kensie, I think you have the right idea, I think I’ll grab my book, get on the couch, wrap up in my quilt and just read for awhile 

I need to find my notes on how to delete Hindsight202’s photo LOL after my reading

I check missy's:jail: twitter a/c every day to see if there is anything "noteworthy" to post (goes to my research on the psychology of murderers).

Remember this tweet from missy's:jail:twitter A/C that I posted:

Jodi Arias Updates @JodiAnnArias · Nov 23
#jodiarias on restriction because she shared food with someone who was hungry. No good deed goes unpunished.

Well- here's another from today:

Jodi Arias Updates @JodiAnnArias · 9h 9 hours ago
"Sometimes, you have to break the rules around you in order to keep the rules within you" http://**************/mcso-lessons-in-charity-jodi-arias-blog-post/ …

(missy's :jail: website will not post here, so you'll have to go to twitter to read her blog and "MCSO Lessons in Charity" post: https://twitter.com/JodiAnnArias )

When I came to the part where she said, "I'm not a rule breaker...", I had to get off my computer and go have a cigarette.:mad:

Such arrogance, such delusions this "person" has about herself. She has no clue- she murdered someone and she says she doesn't break the "rules"! What happened to "Thou shalt not kill"?

She is the deviant in our society, never mind throwing mud at Travis, - a murderer and a risk to our society- whose behaviors/words are just to manipulate. She doesn't have any "rules within" her. She thinks she's above the law and the rules don't apply to her. Such ______________- I'm speechless here. :ohwow:

It's so madding. :pullhair::stormingmad::stormingmad:

I need to slap her! :stormingmad:

Wake Up and smell the toilet you have in your cell and the mess you have made of your life!

You are not a "good and generous" person just because you gave someone a candy bar! You have broken the worse rule- you killed someone! :stormingmad::stormingmad:

(and those idiots who follow her and their comments- pfttt )

OHHHHH! :furious:

Pftttt and hogwash

I am thinking something like mental breakdown or fake suicide attempt so that she can go to mental hospital and have a real Thanksgiving dinner.

This post was supposed to be a reply to 826 post about JA having some migraines brewing!

Newbie here, please forgive. I will get it eventually!

I'm way behind but just wanted to post a big Welcome to you! :greetings:

I felt that around 11:00 last night!!!! We're just West of Sedona, can see the Red Rocks from our place. Horses and dogs went all nutty! It was like a washing machine that was majorly unbalanced...........just weird!

Did I mention I HATE them~~we are always offered the reassuring words "not the big one" HATE waiting for the 'big one" :(

I'm in the same "camp"- not so much the "opportunist" part, but writing a book to "explain" their emails is just going overboard, IMO.

If they are "innocent" on their part, there would be no need to "explain" to the "world" just to get justification in what their words about Travis were "really" about, IMO (even if these emails were never to be published and for Travis' eyes only back when they wrote them).

They have gone on TV to express whatever they felt and meant. Now, a book is just too much, IMO. What is that all about?

Come on, kids.........the Killer is in SOLITARY. 23 hours in cell, 1 hour for "crafts", er, "whatever", sarcasm intended.

She CAN'T share her food because no one is around to share it with her, and who's hungry with a substantial 2300 calorie a day meal program?!?!?!

REALLY?!?!?!?!

This is the first time I've read the twitter account (thanks YesorNO for the link above!) and here's a gem: "Jodi Arias Updates @JodiAnnArias · Nov 24 Truth was too inconvenient for the State so they neutered the evidence. Gov't doesn't get much more corrupt at State level than Juan."

REALLY??? "they NEUTERED the evidence"?????? hmmmmmmmm where does one find the specific appendage on evidence to perform THAT surgery?!!

All in all..................can "we" just get this case DONE to preserve the sanity of the rest of us and the lives of TA's family!

I still think the proper venue to put the e-mails into context was on the witness stand. Not on TV or by way of writing a book. Unless they are donating every red cent of profit to TA's family that we are unaware of?

I listened to CH talk about where the profits of his book will go. They will go to a charity that both TA and the Hughes supported. Name escapes me, but it is in Africa IIRC. Last year, during the trial, CH set up "The TA Legacy Fund" to which I donated. I have no idea where the money went. It was supposed to be a 501C3 non profit, charitable organization. To date, I don't know if it even exists. Why wouldn't the profits go to that fund?

I could say something about who/what should be neutered, but I'm "evolved"

(I don't post all her tweets because I don't think that all of them are from her and are from whoever posts them for her. Most of them are bull anyway, IMO)

Yeppers.

If my so called "BFF" was murdered, you bet I'd cut my vacay short and high tail it back home. And what about getting all the passwords from TA's webmaster? Isn't THAT something you'd leave to TA's family? Or Deanna?

And I certainly would NOT talk to the defense............at.........all.

For people who's JOB was hawking "Pre Paid Legal", they sure were dumb as a box of rocks. Didn't they have a "PPL" subscription? Didn't they KNOW, if you're caught up in a legal situation, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT?
SH's all aghast about allegations of pedophilia by TA? Seriously, SH, we all thought you said you KNEW him WELL, and you're going to entertain that idea?!? And for all of Hughes' religious values, they were contributing to Travis' spiritual transgressions by allowing CMJA to stay at their place with Travis.

To be REAL blunt: Travis was just "one course" of the "meal ticket" that put $$$$ in the Hughes' pocket. After his murder, it was all about "face time" and more opportunities to make $$$$ off of Travis.

Rant over.....

-------------------------
just a thought this AM (hope this is not too much to think about on a Monday morning.)

Why and how did you become interested in trials/crime?

The first time I was really aware of trials was the OJ trial. It consumned me at the time (all 8 months or so of it). I remember watching it while I did my housekeeping, cooking, taking care of my son, etc. How did that man get away with murder? :(

The years went by and I forgot about murderers - then came Caylee Anthony. I watched that trial just like the OJ trial, but this time, I lurked on WS, also. Everyone knows the outcome of that trial and the disappointment that another murderer has been freed. :(

But with the missy:jail: trial, I decided to join WS and come out of lurkdom to join others in my interest in trials. I found this seemly normal- looking person that murdered Travis Alexander an enigma and I wanted to find out more. I missed the first 2 weeks of the trial and I didn't know anything about missy:jail: at the time.

My interest is mainly in the psychology of murderers and why they murder, and also justice for their victims and families. I'm also interested in the mindset of the murderers' supporters. At this time, I'm researching "remorse" in murderers. My philosophy professor said that some people are born without a conscious and I have always felt she was wrong, but now I think I may have been wrong. So far my research on remorse - wild goose chase, but still I search. :sheesh:

I have never been a victim of murder, rape, etc., nor do I personally know anyone who has been victimized.

What about you?

I've been a trial watcher for years. My late father would watch Court TV all the time and I would watch them with him when visiting. After he passed (11 years ago), my interest in court cases grew and I found myself having the channel on all day while doing housework and taking care of my daughter. I can't remember what my first trial was. I did watch the OJ trial, but I was in my teens so wasn't able to watch every day, but did follow along in the news. I was surprised at the outcome of that trial, but was young and naive and thought that everyone told the truth under oath. At the time, I thought he might have not done it because he said so, but his behavior really said otherwise, so I found that confusing. :blushing: I believe now that he did it without any doubt.
I found this site during the Casey Anthony trial and lurked here for quite some time and finally decided to join last year for the CMJA trial.
The allure for me in watching trials is that the whole judicial process fascinates me. I like when justice is served and I enjoy seeing trials unfold. I like to hear the facts and form my opinions around them. When I learn about various trials, some victims leave an impression on me and I feel I need to see the trial through so that I can witness justice being served for them. Teghan Skiba, Caylee Anthony, and Travis Alexander are three that really have weighed heavily on me. After the CA trial's outcome, I was pretty shaken. I was absolutely convinced that CA would have been charged with at the very least 2nd degree murder. When she was acquitted on all I was dumbfounded and took a break from trials for a while.
I also am fascinated at some people's ability to follow their lies all the way to trial. I want to understand how and why people commit the heinous acts that they do.
