My daughter has been trying to get me to get one. She has been using one for the past six months. The initial cost was around 70 dollars. To maintain it weekly she says it's under 10 bucks. She fills it up with the flavors. I will try it again when I see her and ask her about the smooth hit as it did hit my throat when I tried hers. Cough

You can go get a little e-go with a starter tank for about $30 bucks. The flavors from vape shops are pretty$$ but if you make it yourself it's like pennies per week. My husband quit smoking about 3 years ago, I've personally tried it a few times but it kicks my ulcers into overdrive for some unknown reason. But it really does help you quit smoking. Plus no sneaking a smoke outside in -4 with snow on the ground lol

I quit by switching to vaping.......and now I rarely vape, dropped the nic tremendously. I'm talking Camel "Humps" since about 17 years of age, and the last 10 years of "Drum" roll your own. BF still smokes but he does it outside or in HIS truck.
It's really weird how smoking doesn't bug you til you quit........and then it's all :gaah:. Smells like rotten moose butt <-----I imagine, lol!

I actually "quit" during the first week of the CMJA trial, now THAT was amazing! Sitting in front of the computer, watching live streaming, without a smoke.

Yup!! Ecigs and nicotine patches. It was fairly easy with those.
I still have a non nicotine e cig just for those moments.

The percentage of VG/PG can do that, burned wicks (not enough e-liquid getting to the coil), or if you tried the "cig-a-like" e-cigs, some just aren't that great. Panda E-Cigs and NJoy make a good cig-a-like. There's also going to a "brick and mortar" vape shop. They usually have a "tasting" bar to try different flavors and gear.
This is my "gear" after trial and error:



The ProVari extended (the silver battery holder (Mod) on the right, and the Kayfun style e-liquid tanks with coil (RBA: Re-Buildable Atomizer). I do all my coils and use sterile cotton for wicks. Alice in Vapeland is my #1 e-liquid, the stuff is AWESOME!

I joined the E Cigarette Forum and they REALLY helped me on the learning curve. And with my enthusiasm, I ended up with the standard Vapapocalypse bug out box, or should I say crate? Gallons of PG, VG, a gallon of 100mg Nic, flavors, tons of RBA's, kanthol, etc., etc. And I still saved a bunch of money vs. cigarettes.

I do "sub ohm", I like clouds!

I'm with you YESorNO my only vice is smoking too! I'll stick with it...

Also, I have heard those e-cigs have dangerous chemicals in them, so that's why I won't try them. My Huz orders 5 lb. bags of tobacco and we roll our own! A LOT cheaper than buying cigs at the store!!

but... Congrats Bernina with your 2 years of not smoking! Good for you!

It's 58 here this morning, and only supposed to go to 59 today! So not so bad compared to you guys back East!

I do too. I have my little smoking area on my porch. Going out for a smoke in the winter requires effort lol. My hubby bought me a nice thick warm robe, and isotoner slippers so I don't freeze when I go out lol

It made me cough too when I tried them.

I have one, cartridge style, doesn't make me cough but doesn't give me the had-a-cig feeling. Also can't find a menthol I like. There are two different types of liquid though, PG and VG, here's a pretty good explanation (and a whole forum devoted to e-cigs):
