OMG! Made my day! The free 45's in cereal. The Monkeys though, blah. Mom gave me a free one for my birthday once. Linda Ronstadt song, wasn't my style, but we were poor. She saved toys and whatever from cereal for stocking stuffers and birthdays, smart really. I think that 45's started at about 10 cents then went to 45 cents. :blushing:

I had one of those record players, too. Based on the music you mentioned, it sounds like we are about the same age. Do you remember cutting out cardboard records from the back of cereal boxes and playing them?

Yes! That's how I got The Archie's Sugar, Sugar. lol

Too cool! I have finally figured out how to use the $15 MP3 player I bought three years ago and I'm having a wonderful time listening to all kinds of music. Today's mission from God is downloading ZZ Top!

I just love Zz top! I in the 70's to Saint Petersburg concert with scarlet fever! nothing was going to make me miss it although I did that way away from everybody so i would not give it to anyone! I don't think I was contagious at the time

Hi All,

My crazy life of helping adult children recover from their childhood, plus an obligation to write a book sucks up all my time.

Websleuths is a guilty pleasure. I shouldn't even be writing this post--I should be working on the book. But part of me is receiving some kind of therapy in seeing the justice system work, so I am looking at the benefit being worth the time--plus you guys are such fun! The music! The recipes! The wit and the braininess! Honestly, what's not to like?

If we were back in high school, I would want to sit at YOUR table!

The interest people have shown in me having a blog is exciting but I just can't insert another thing into my life right now-- sorry!

My mother worshiped this man. She took me to a concert of his when I was around 4 years old. I love him too.

I was about 12 or 13 when Elvis became a big deal. All the parents were outraged by his "hip movements" and most of us were forbidden to listen to his music.

One Saturday, my Dad was out of town on business, my Mom took me to an early dinner and a movie. I don't think she payed any attention to what was playing at the movie, she just wanted to get out of the house. (This was in the days of double features.)

Well, Jailhouse Rock was one of the movies. I worried she would say we had to leave when it came on. But, long story short, she fell in love! When we exited the theater we had to walk past a record store next door to get to our car. She said, "Do you want to go in here?" Anyway, she bought me EVERY 45 Elvis had made at that time. Boy, were my friends jealous!

Many days I'd come home from school and she would be playing Elvis records. I sure miss my Mom.:twocents:

I am sitting here at a street corner cafe in downtown Orlando with music going. Anyway, I'm here in Orlando for the Paul McCartney concert. We offered my niece tickets and she said Oh Paul McCartney is he with the Bee Gees!

:gasp:
