I am sitting here at a street corner cafe in downtown Orlando with music going. Anyway, I'm here in Orlando for the Paul McCartney concert. We offered my niece tickets and she said Oh Paul McCartney is he with the Bee Gees!

One tween day my DD, MY DD, asked me who is Jimi Hendrix??!! :scared:

Needless to say we spent a lot of time playing music, bonding - she liked it as she is wordy so Axis Bold As Love - then she asked me who are the Beatles. I needed to put in some calls. That takes way too long.

She also asked me to find love songs for her Birthday present one year, as a teen, and I forced her to listen to U2, and she said they had none!!! I found a cheesy CD of love songs. Her fave is, UGH, "If you like Pinacolodas". She got that from her dad's side.

I was about 12 or 13 when Elvis became a big deal. All the parents were outraged by his "hip movements" and most of us were forbidden to listen to his music.

One Saturday, my Dad was out of town on business, my Mom took me to an early dinner and a movie. I don't think she payed any attention to what was playing at the movie, she just wanted to get out of the house. (This was in the days of double features.)

Well, Jailhouse Rock was one of the movies. I worried she would say we had to leave when it came on. But, long story short, she fell in love! When we exited the theater we had to walk past a record store next door to get to our car. She said, "Do you want to go in here?" Anyway, she bought me EVERY 45 Elvis had made at that time. Boy, were my friends jealous!

Many days I'd come home from school and she would be playing Elvis records. I sure miss my Mom.:twocents:

Boy, do I know the feeling. My Dad hated the Beatles because he thought they were "subversive." Naturally, I wanted my hair long. He made me get crewcuts as a kid. I still had a couple of Beatles albums, but didn't end up getting them all until I was married with my own house. LOL Crank them up every chance I get. I will never cut all my hair off again. Now, if I can just convince my hair to stay on my head...

Is it just me or are all of the videos on this thread making it NURMI slow to load?

My youngest son, he was about 19 or 20 at the time, and I were selecting songs on a juke box and I was selecting a Beatles song and said, "I love Paul McCartney's music." Rick looked at me quizzically and said, "Was Paul McCartney in a band before Wings?"

That was the day I no longer felt "young"!:floorlaugh:

I wasn't here during that trial and so haven't posted any thoughts about it, but in hindsight I think the problem was during jury selection the prosecution did not know that the defense was going to make any sex abuse claims, so the prospective jurors were never questioned on those issues. Baez knew what kind of jury he was going for but I think the prosecution was blindsided in that respect.

We'll never know if the PT had known beforehand what Baez was going to claim in opening would have changed the jury selection but I'm willing to bet it would have.

Just moo

No, the prosecution would have known what Baez was going to contend before the trial began. The problem was that the case was so big by then that it severely limited the jury pool and there were people selected that should never have been there, including a woman who was against the DP and another who didn't feel comfortable judging people because she thought that was up to God. Since that was a DP trial, a anti DP juror would see Casey as the victim and the PT as the bad ones for going after her for the DP regardless of what they said her crime was. In the context of they trial, the PT were the ones that were doing evil work. IMO anyway. So they were never going to give Casey a fair trial.

ETA: also, a potential juror who isn't aware enough of what's going on in the world to have heard of CA when it happened in their backyard is maybe going to be lacking in the awareness department in general. They just didn't sound very intelligent and they hadn't grasped what their jury instructions were. There was one that wanted to give her manslaughter, but feeling outnumbered, he succumbed to the rest of the jurors instead of sticking to his guns and hanging the jury. The jury was lacking. A very sad situation.

I had coffee with my friends father who is a sitting judge and has been for many years. He has sentanced a man to the DP.
We talk trials alot..haha he told me he wishes he could get jurors as informed as I am.
He totally believes that this and any other DP sentance is decided at jury selection...haha his example ( if you get one young little school teacher or mother or whatever who says she/he can issue the DP but has qualms when it comes to signing on the dotted line the DP is off the table...
He also believes the LWOP is just as bad a sentance, and agrees that most people who get the DP will die before being executed.
I agree with him totally...he said that in his 25 yrs of experience, being DP qualified means nothing if one person cannot carry through..

Geeky tip slightly edited:

To post Youtube songs instead of just the address, make sure the url says http://www.youtube.com/moreletters

- Not https
- No additional code at the end of the address. Sometimes you'll see an & and additional code. http://www.youtube.com /watch?vv=ZWGxoFjfSGg&feature=artistob&playnext=1 &list=TLIfylIGdcymc It can vary.

The address shouldn't look anything more than this:

http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=ZWGxoFjfSGg

Also some videos are set so they can't be embedded

My first 45's on a player like that was Donnie Osmond, The Jackson 5 and The Monkees ("I'll take the last train to Clarksville and meet you at the station...". I broke my leg when I was 11 and practically wore out those records.

Oh yeah, and Band of Gold. lol

I was on a cruise more than 10 years ago and Mickey Dolenz tried to pick me up! I merely was just talking to him at the bar and he was obviously obviously after a while wanting a hookup and well you know the rest of the story! I bailed it out of there.

Please know that I am NOT ignoring anyone. I simply have not had a chance to sign online and answer each of you personally. For that I apologize and ask for your patience. I just want y'all to know that you're not being ignored and I am not dismissing your concerns. I promise to try to answer each of you tomorrow after I have had some much needed rest.

Now for the favor.... I'd be forever grateful for help getting the word out. Please bump this post periodically so those who have messaged me just might see this apology/explanation.

Thanks in advance. Very much appreciated!
