Oh my Spellbound. I am so sorry for yet another loss. Bless you and yours.

Thanks for the feedback Spellbound and coffejunkie. The travertine would certainly lighten up the kitchen. I live in Delaware where hardwood seems to be the norm. I love the look of Travertine. Does anyone complain about it being cold on bare feet? Is it hard to keep the grout clean? Do you have tile that flows into carpet or hardwood? How does the transition look? Mine would flow into hardwood.

You can install for heated floor which is relatively cheap now. I have no issue with keeping the grout clean. On occasion i did clean it but since purchasing a steam floor cleaner it does the trick. When we renovated I drove people nuts who came with samples. You must have flow LOL Well I dont like "flow" I have very few rooms with carpet but trust me every room is different. Hardwood, carpet, ceramic etc. etc. I think it looks great.

Morning all!

re washing machines - mine had problems last week when I did my laundry... did not drain out the water and didn't agitate!! :gaah: The Huz fixed it!!!! :happydance: Our washing machine is 40 years old!! Somewhere along the line we inherited another washing machine, so we have a "spare" ready to go; but the Huz said NO - I'll fix this one, and he did! He can fix anything! Thank goodness!

Hey YESorNO :snowball:

Hate to rub it in, but we had temps in the 70s all week! We do have Spring!

Finished up the family tree for the Huz!!! But ran out of ink to finish up 3 copies for his relatives! :gaah: Now I have to spend $40 to buy a print cartridge to finish those up.

I don't "see" any advertising between posts - just empty spaces. :waitasec:

Susza - last time I was in Switzerland was 1984. I LOVE your country!! My Huz' grandparents are from there. I so want him to see the country; maybe in 2016 when I (or we) go to Latvia to bury my mother, we can take a side trip to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Love those countries' countryside! So beautiful!

Okay - off to read other threads! Take care everyone!

:seeya:

Yes, indeed, beautiful countrysides!
I hope you'll be able to make that sidetrip.
Regarding your huz' talents, you're lucky!
I don't have a husband like this but that's also a fortune; I have to do everything on my own and therefore I'm learning a lot and improving my skills. This week I will have to fix a new ceiling lamp in my hallway. I never did it but I'm sure I'll get it done. :happydance:

After my two cuppa CFON, spent the morning with my neighbor at the Nursery....not the baby one, the plant one. Ahh Spring has sprung and it's more like summer here in the high desert. Next few days I'll be planting up my huge garden pots. Such fun and I love the colorful results.

BTW.....13 more days until sentencing
and then,
come on say it............

:jail:

Lucky you! Enjoy. We woke up to several inches of wet, heavy snow. Thursday to hit the mid 60's. Sigh.....

Yesterday afternoon...........yep, adventure, more later.

Light bulbs: Damn right I stockpiled!!!! Those LED and CFL bulbs don't put out any heat and if I'm brooding a bunch of babies, I'm not going to use a heat lamp that spins my electric meter. I start with a 100 watt and slowly go down to 60 watt over 8 weeks.

Washers and dryers: Too many types, styles. All the washer has to do is CLEAN your clothes, not entertain you, and have instructions like the old VCR's:gaah: Keep it simple, it's NOT going to be the center piece in my living room.

Why does everything have so many buttons, settings, digital idiot lights?

Death: I've always noticed that they come in 3's. Maybe there's a card game in Heaven and it takes 3 to play? Maybe jump rope. Or maybe it's just familiar faces?

Kitchen floors: Tile hands down if you have critters. Or kids. Or people who drop stuff like eggs or tend to spill no matter if it's in a mug, glass, or sippy cup.
When I gut my kitchen, it's going to be tile. I'm regressing back to when I had kids, or I should say the BF is regressing, but it's cool, just need patience. Actually, clothing that could multitask as a moving drop cloth would work.:scared: It's a challenge.

another view of the floor. (I messed up) LOL

Just lovely! Love your fireplace too. Such character in your home. Like the home I grew up in. I think that's why I like every room different. It gives what I call newer homes "the four beige wall look" some character.

Spellie - Tricia announced changes coming to WS so I think more ads in the forums will help her pay legal fees:

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?275424-The-Future-of-Websleuths

:giggle: maybe I was just seeing things ..... all the ads have disappeared now, and everything is perfect! (I saw Tricia's announcement yesterday. Changes may be coming that we will like, she says)

First sign of Spring...... I have tiny sprouts popping out of the ground for the peonies. And I have also seen a few trees with new buds.

Lucky you! Enjoy. We woke up to several inches of wet, heavy snow. Thursday to hit the mid 60's. Sigh.....

No snow, but it is cold today!! It did manage to get to 40 degrees, but it feels even colder.

Too funny! I stockpiled the light bulbs I like, too.
And I found that it really helps to wash clothes as usual, and then set the machine back to rinse and do a second rinse before drying. So add me to the list of SWBB's...selfish wasteful baby boomer. Ha! :)

I always do a second rinse too.

(definitely SWBB habits )

And don't forget the water efficient new toilets that don't always flush! :gaah::shame: real water saver there.

You have to flush twice now- Pfttt

Zuri, your kitchen plans sound beautiful. I would think dogs would do less "damage" to tile with their nails and mud-tracking if that is a concern. Easier to wipe tile? I really do not know, though.

WHAT is going on with ads interspersed between our posts now? :stormingmad: This is driving me nuts at a time I cannot handle changes very well. Don't they know I have too much going wrong already? :chuckle: (guess they don't cater just to me, hey?)

Lost a very dear Aunt this morning. What a week it is. sighhhh

BBM On no :( :sigh:

So sorry. :therethere:

I went with a darker tile, not too dark though, like a lighter medium blue brown mix and a medium color grout in the kitchen. My bathroom has a light tile and every little thing, water spot, etc. shows on it - but I do love it. Go with a darker grout! And be sure not to go with a gloss surface or you could fall like I did!

One of the stupidest decisions I ever made was to choose white grout for my grey tiled kitchen floor.

I have just plain linoleum in my kitchen, dining, washroom, and bathroom (easy to clean, IMO).

I remember the day I heard that Selena was dead like it was yesterday. :(
I was in my kitchen cooking and listening to the radio. (I never listen to the radio anymore).
What a waste of such a tremendous talent and a beautiful, young person, IMO, and for what.

May that murderer rot for the rest of her life in prison.

This is Judge Stephens courtroom. Court will begin bright and early at 2:30 p.m.

(As long as that's okay with Nurmi, of course.)

 That would be REALLY REALLY funny if it wasn't so damn TRUE!! lol
