YESorNO, the 1970s were just a fashion tragedy, what can I say? Polyester everything, incredibly clunky shoes, really bad hair. But I still play disco music on my Walkman (shows how old school I am...I walk into the gym with my CD in my Walkman in my horrendous black fanny pack; everyone finds me quaint...lol).

BBM Fanny pack :floorlaugh:

I use to wear one, but now I can't find one to fit around my so-called waist :hilarious:

The 70's clothes were no worse than those pants that hang low on the butt and show the underwear.

Maybe the thinking was they helped balanced out those huge shoulder pads. :floorlaugh:

BBM Wasn't that the 80's?

I use to cut them out of my clothes.

We are expecting bad weather later today and evening...severe storms, hail, high winds, possible tornados. Cold front moving in.

Our water heater is going out, time buy a new one. Bummer!

Today my DH turned 66. The kids will be here this evening (weather permitting) for a little get together. I had to buy decorations for his birthday. Great granddaughter said that I must get her Pop 'Ninja Turtles Party Fun'... 'cause he is a boy, not a girl!! That child is a hot mess ;) The things we do for our grandkids :)

Have a good day!

BBM Happy Birthday to your DH :bdsong:

:cupcake:

Hope you and yours have a wonderful day. :loveyou:

Oh yes, the shoulder pads were pure 80s....remember the TV series Dynasty, with Joan Collins and Linda Evans? Big hair, big shoulders, raccoon eye makeup...God help me, I did it all.
:shame:

Happy Birthday, also, to coffeejunkie's DH!

i'm in bad shape. can't type well. sorry to hear of your foul, zuri. i need someone here with me. keep falling down and having hard time going to bathroom. keep falling off toilet. now i walk outside and pee standing up. need a shower. friend is bringing me a walker and thing to put over toilet to make it higher. taking lots of hydrocodone and keeping frozen vegs on shoulder. crying on and off. male roommate is helping as much as he can. this is very hard to do.

sorry to avoid everyone. thanks for all the best wishes and care.

(((daisymae))) I hate that you are there alone. I know you have a male roommate, but that's not like real help. Do you have any family there, or anyone who could come and help you? You definitely should not be alone right now. Heck we would all come help you if we could. It makes me sad to know you are alone :frown: I'm afraid you might fall again! Sending healing hugs and prayers but wish I could do more. W all care so much about you :heartbeat:

Thanks! And it did open up......what an awesome tree tent!!!! I wish I had a huge tree to put one in!!!!!
I'm going to put up my Mayan hammock down by the pond today, tied between 2 willows. I don't know if I'll attempt to lie in it, the winds been kicking up every day for the last week, and I can easily see myself getting twisted up like a burrito,LOL!

There was ICE on the horse troughs, again, this morning.........gah! May 10, last freeze date, YAY!!!!

I don't think Bernina remembers those sort of shoes (she's too young). :floorlaugh:
What possessed people to wear them anyway???

:confetti:

No, I remember them, I just wasn't WEARING them, lol! I was born in 1961, so I got to see or experience so may incredible, and slightly weird, fads, inventions, human accomplishments, major world changes, wars that had no justification, the end of segregation as those before me were brought up in to a man of color being president, civil rights, women's rights, gay rights, a man on the moon, the legalization of marijuana gathering momentum, the end of the Berlin Wall, PC's, microwaves, cell phones, the first heart transplant, artificial limbs that duplicate the actions of real limbs, gas shortages (I was stuck in a line in Cali when that went on!), 911, the 2nd stock market crash, National tragedies, World tragedies, cloning, test tube babies, AIDS................it's been an incredible life so far, so many, many things that have happened.

Wonder what the next 50 years have in store for me?

hi-there-smiley.gif
everyone!
This is going to be a looong post with all the quotes here, but you guys have been busy bees
bee-smiley.gif
posting last night!

I remember when I visited relatives in Sacramento for 2 weeks one time and I had brought an umbrella. My relatives laughed at me and I thought they were kidding at first. After the 6th or 7th day of waking up to beautiful blue skies I realized they were not joking with me.

By the end of that trip I realized why California has so many fires. They dont get enough rain. There was brown grass on sides of highways and its amazing that any trees can survive.

For the water rationing I think they need to also make sure large companies and businesses do their part. 1 large business will use more water than 1000 homes and especially if the business has to use water for something.

I think the government always goes after the residents first without making sure businesses do their part. It seems businesses get exceptions and waivors and they are the ones that will use 1000 times the water residents do. I do understand that certain businesses have to have water to run their business but I dont think the government does near enough in the way of forcing businesses to do their part.

I also know farming should get special provisions. I am mainly referring to normal type businesses that would not have water as a main source of survival. These are the places the government needs to really ensure do not waist water.

Ive been under water bans before as a resident and it is not fun. It puts neighbor against neighbor and causes lots of grief. You will always have some people that try to break the rules and it is a recipe for disaster if not handled right by government.

Instead of road rage you end up with neighbor water police rage. :)

re bold - Oh yeah! LOL! We have new neighbors that moved in next door a couple of months ago... the woman was out on her back deck the other day cleaning it off with water!! My Huz asked her if she knew we had a water shortage... and she should be using a broom! Well, that did NOT go over to well - she said, well she does pay her water bill - but that is NOT the point lady...

It rained night before last - but that was it. My friend in Davis said they had hail and thunderstorms- we just got some good heavy rain for a few hours. It looked like it might rain yesterday morning but didn't happen.

One thing that's bothered me for years is how much water must be wasted by restaurants automatically placing water at tables - this drought seems to have taken care of that. We've been really good about conserving for years - just don't know how we're going to have to take another 25% off of that...

Someone posted about the prison officials sneaking Jodi out in the middle of the night- they tried that with Scott Peterson too but the press was ready and waiting...I still smile every time I see him bump his head while getting into the prison van - twisted person that I am...

first bold - Hey! I graduated from Davis Hi! Go Blue Devils! :cheer: Can't believe I'm having my 50th High School class reunion this July??!! :ohwow:

re second bold - I too have to chuckle when I see that too, cinsbythesea! No not twisted at all!

Hi, Nore (a voice from your past here, lol)

So sorry to hear about your puppy. My dog had colitis once & between the meds and my feeding her plain white rice & boiled chicken for about a week, she finally got better. She was about 12 at the time...the vet told me not to allow her ANY people food at all & only a few small treats a day (she weighed 85 pounds then, so adjust accordingly). After she had that bout, I was diligent about what she ate. When I'd go to visit my mom for holidays/long weekends, one of my brothers would inevitably sneak her some people food and she'd get sick again (tho not as severely, thank God). Then I had to train my brothers, lol. Oh, vet also said dog bones to dogs are like candy bars to us - quite fattening & not very nutritious. I used to give most of my dogs raw baby carrots for treats & they loved them...

So, plain white rice to bind the stuff in intestines & boiled chicken for the protein. If you cook the rice in the chicken water, it'll be more palatable instead of so plain. Plain hamburger is good (drained of course), too, if Buffy gets tired of chicken, but keep the rice coming every meal. Try for 3-4 smaller meals a day. I do hope Buffy gets better!

Sorry for the OT everyone!

Itsy - there NOTHING Off Topic here at the Sidebar!!

I'm sorry and can empathize. I'm sure they will recommend physical therapy for you once you have healed enough- though it may be painful I really recommend you do it. I fell, dislocating my shoulder and tearing my rotator cuff and being self-employed didn't have the time to take off for physical therapy and/or surgery - and my shoulder has never ever been the same. I do hear physical therapy can work wonders with shoulders so once you're ready - do try it. And I know what you mean about the pain - I was shaking and sobbing from the pain - and taking Percocet like it was candy on Halloween. I feel for you. It will get better - it will just take time... Hugs to you (on one side!).

I too had a tore rotator cuff - OUCH! I slipped on some milk at the grocery store... and BAM, right on my should I landed... But the Huz helped me stretch my arm up, so I could do the sign for "touchdown" - boy did that hurt! But I can do it again!!
