Websleuths is wonky. It keeps asking me if I want to leave the page or stay on when I hit the post button. Tried again and said my post was to short. Gargh!!

That happens to me too - just hit "leave the page" and for some reason it will post your post and bring you back to this thread! Don't know why, but it works!!

Beautiful property coffeejunkie!! Love it! And you should be proud. Looks like they've done good!

Okay - off to read my e-book!

See you all tomorrow!

Today, May 25, is a day of honoring our dead. Do you remember when stores closed on Sunday and Holidays? Nobody went shopping for things they really didn't need, and you spent the day with family.

1787 - The Constitutional Convention convenes in Philadelphia, Pa.

1927 - The "Movietone News" was shown for the first time at the Sam Harris Theater in New York City.

1935 - American track star Jesse Owens sets three world records and tied another in a little over an hour.

1940 - Golden Gate International Exposition reopens

1961 - President John F. Kennedy says man will step foot on the moon within a decade.

1962 - The Isley Brothers release "Twist and Shout"

1968 - The Gateway Arch is dedicated in St. Louis, Mo.

1969 - Midnight Cowboy is released with an X rating. I always think of Joe Buck and Ratso walking down the street ...............

(Hmmm wasn't there a trivia question the other day? Now what's the second one?)

and

Iron Butterfly records the album Iron - and side two's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" is seventeen minutes long. (how many times could you listen to it? My limit was one and one quarter times. The first time was good then it kinda wore you down

1973 - The Edgar Winter Group hits #1 on the U.S. charts with 'Frankenstein', the bands only US No.1. ( I absolutely hate this song. DH roommate said his ex wife's name over and over one night to this (his wife wasn't there). It seemed to go on for hours. We went looking for an apartment in the morning.)

1978 - Star Wars is released.

1986 - Millions of people joined hands in "Hands Across America," forming a line across the country to raise money for the nation's hungry and homeless. (we need to do this and pray for our land - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I am having a new weird thingie. When I hit reply, the box is all grey inside and I cannot post. It happens most often in a very contentious thread that I am riled up in, so maybe it is a new high tech way to black us from getting ourselves TOSed? LOL

OH OH. I am posting over there too. I hope I didn't say anything rude. I did have a few posts go POOF though, so sorry.

Except, I think I agree with most everything you have posted, so it's all good.

There are lots of brand new peeps in that thread and I think it takes awhile for people to understand the WS way.

Thanks, Katy! I almost did an ETA to point out familiar folks, one of whom would be you (others: TexMex, Mrs. G Norris, oceanblueeyes, atthelake... Im missing at least one person...).

Of course, you've done nothing wrong. It's just a few posters whom I find to be rather rude, and they rule the boards. They respond so passive/aggressively to people who either 1) missed something upthread, or 2) don't agree with them.

Perhaps I got spoiled in having Jodi Arias as something we could all agree about as being demonstrably evil, so we didn't take things out on one another. Over there, we are all just guessing about the bad guy(s), and it seems to keep breaking down into factions of people trying to outdo each other with snarky comments.

Then again, it might be that old thing about reading too much into the written words...

I just wish there was the friendliness and sense of camaraderie that exists here. I also wanted all the good people here (including you!) to know that I appreciate them even more after having read the Savopoulos thread the past few weeks. Not the same experience whatsoever. You guys are the best! :)

I've heard bad things happen in groups of 3's. Well in the last couple of months mine have been financial hits amongst other things: car transmission died day before long road trip, house broken into two weeks ago, and in the last week- meltdown of electrical wiring in my house, haven't been able to use my oven for a week! One thing that's improving though, my attitude. I realized today that although I can't afford to take any more trips in the foreseeable future, (we're funding my daughter for several), at least I will be getting some home improvements out of it. We were in the process of building a new planter box outside our fence when the break-in happened, and planning on finally painting our den when DD goes on her trip the week after graduation (it's always been messed up since before we moved in- they painted over wallpaper, then peeled it off). In addition to that, I have brand new electrical wiring as of today that is up-to-code, and I should be getting new French doors to replace the sliding glass back patio doors that the burglars smashed, and I'll be getting a state-of-the art burglar alarm and a mounted safe!!!
Also hopefully soon replacing the laptops and getting some replacement jewelry. Maybe also new door curtains and re-doing the front door.

P.S. Big Thanks to whoever suggested downloading AdBlock. It's been a godsend in increasing speed, especially on WS. Now I'm not wasting time waiting for ads to load that I'd never bother with anyhow!

So sorry about your run of bad luck! You're smart to focus on the positives. Things could always be worse. Here's hoping that everything turns around starting today! Live in the moment with gratitude about all the good that surrounds you.

I've been trying very hard to be Buddhist (which I'm not) in my attitude about it and grateful for what I do have/still have but it's been hard- most especially because of the loss of my mother's jewelry. They were the pieces I loved the most, I had way more in value than I knew, and I can't replace them. Feels like I can't keep good jewelry, because every time I do, I get robbed. Twenty years ago I lost my grandmother's pearls...

Ouch. That must be devastating. We had some expensive jewelry stolen from our luggage, By the luggage handlers, in my opinion!

But thank goodness it was not my grandmothers diamond broach or my Mom's jade rings and bracelet set. I decided at the last minute not to take them and took a tennis bracelet, with not that much sentimental value. I picked it out myself.

If they had gotten my family heirlooms, I would have been heartbroken. I am so sorry.

I've also had it stolen out of luggage by baggage handlers. Was traveling to a friend's wedding in San Diego and couldn't decide which pieces to take, so I took a few... Guess what I lost!:banghead::banghead::banghead: at myself. I've had to learn the hard way about thieves, especially jewelry thieves.

I see Pam Smart is trying to drum up some compassion for her self since she's lost so much of her life behind bars........... Of course it's everyone else s fault.

I've wondered over to the Daron Wint thread and it is a little nasty in there. I guess we do have a safe place in here. I know I take it for granted and expect there other place to be the same. I think this is going to be a trial like James Holmes, it's going to take a lot out of you.

JOKE of the DAY

This young man was elated when he turned eighteen in a state where curfew is 11:00 p.m. for any one under seventeen years of age. He told his Dad how happy he was that now he could stay out until 3:00 a.m. if he wanted. “Yes you can stay out as late as you want, but the car is under seventeen and it has to be in the garage by eleven.” His father said.

So many great posts since I was last here yesterday. I can't begin to reply to them with quotes, or I would take up two pages.

GigiG, we do love our little corner here. I do not recall one iota of rudeness here, ever. Well, Y/N once threatened to make me write a long paper .... but she forgave me. (Chocolates for you, Y/N :giggle: )

LinasK, you have been through so much. Glad you are getting some needed improvements. Wish we could get our old electrical updated. We still have two prong plugs in half the house. Little by little, we will get there.

The Plake is awesome!

Happy Tuesday, everyone.

Hi Katy  LOL at your last statement.
I think I was the first one over here in the Sidebar with the gray box! It's been happening to me for over a week! I found that if you reply with quote, then hit Go advanced ~ MOST of the time it works. It's been driving me crazy  I'm glad to see that others are finally having it happen, coffeej said Websleuths must not like my PC

:hilarious:

Well, I have never had the gray box (yet), but when I came here just now EVERYTHING IS CENTERED!!!! Craziness abounds....

ETA: I just posted this and noticed that it is the only one that is not centered on the page. Will it stay?

Yep, I'm on the SS and theater trial threads also. Understand what you guys mean about the Savopulos thread. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?281030-DC-Savvas-Savopulos-family-amp-Veralicia-Figueroa-murdered-Daron-Wint-Arrested-5/page7 Hope I wasn't the one who came across rude  Yesterday, things were getting snitty and against TOS. So when I couldn't log in for 2 hours, I was thinking they were cleaning up the thread. lo and behold.... during all that screen cap chit I was doing I put my lappy in airplane mode by mistake. Duh duh took me two hours to figure that out :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: I don't think there is an active moderator on that forum perhaps? :giggle:

Well, :escape: to the Holmes trial today while I do housework. I was sitting on my backporch yesterday and hear blam..... blam... crack/break.... blam! Durn pantry wire shelving came down... So up at 7 this am, off to Lowes to get replacement parts for bent supports - and will listen to trial while I take everything out of the pantry, take all the shelving down.... patch, paint... and put back up.

These are the days that I like live streaming so I can just listen to in the background on my lappy (which is no longer in airplane mode lol) while I work.

:escape: to Holmes thread

:seeya: :blowkiss:
