Glad to see you back my friend. How are you doing? We had a cold front move through yesterday evening. It started with a humongous thunderclap from out of nowhere. Then it rained all night. It was a nice gentle rain. One you'd enjoy.

Thanks, Pages. We are doing well, just drained fro. all the stresses lately. It has gotten much cooler today here, also. The rain must won't stop. Our yards are like swamps with the mini ponds beginning to form. I prefer the thunder clapping and lightening to the deluge of water. Your gentle rain sounds soothing, indeed.

Is your sig pic of Lily? She is so beautiful! How is she doing now?

No wonder I couldn't find Lily's photo ... I have signatures turned off!

Yes, that's our Lilybug. It was her first time in her exerciser, and we we're trying to get her to smile and laugh, and she just wasn't having it. She is to be released on Thursday to Loli-Pop, and we'll find out more about what she's been through.

Zuir has been an enormous help with her nursing skills, and her dh md on stand by. She is such a goodhearted person with a large heart. I still don't know what twerking(?) is. Is it dirty dancing? I'm trying to imagine Zuri dirty dancing out in traffic.

I am not a super hero lol. Too funny! Super hero's hair doesn't frizz in the rain!

Turns out, my DH MD was on his way home tonight, when the kid in front of him spun out and flipped his car several times. This was on a busy 4 lane highway with lots of stoplights and businesses. It has been raining all day with gusty winds, so not the best time to speed.

My DH was directly behind him and saw him go sideways before he flipped and he was in the process of braking. He pulled over and ran to the car, pulled the kid out because the car was smoking. He checked the kid out and put him in his car while they waited for the cops and ambulance. The engine had separated from the car as it flipped. The kid was fine! Seatbelt saved him. The car was a Dodge Avenger? and the roll cage was completely intact. That kid was lucky!

So driving in my daughter's putt putt 2008 4 cyl Jeep Compass today, which is totally beat from having had 3 kids drive it and bang into things, drop soda, just trashed, but paid for; that her car spins out in back when she accelerates from a stop. I am a little concerned that this car might not be the safest car on the road, even with good tires. She wants a Bernina Truck: Diesel, Cummins, Long Bed, 250. We live in the suburbs and she wants to "roll coal". Bernina, can she come work for you?

We're looking for a car/truck for my grandson and I've tried to explain that "project" "mechanic special" and "needs TLC" is not going to be a choice for us or him. He was looking at Craigslist earlier, and pointed out a truck he liked and was in his price range, then he asked what does a sound in the motor mean.

I keep pointing him away from Bernina trucks. It would only get him in trouble.

I posted about Eric Clapton this week and reading back over his life. One thing stuck with me and was how much of his music I missed in only hearing, but not listening to it.

He wrote this song, which is a testimony of faith. It's the first song he wrote all the lyrics for.

BLIND FAITH
"Presence Of The Lord"
(Eric Clapton)

I have finally found a way to live
Just like I never could before.
I know that I don't have much to give,
But I can open any door.

Everybody knows the secret,
Everybody knows the score.
I have finally found a way to live
In the color of the Lord.

I have finally found a place to live
Just like I never could before.
And I know I don't have much to give,
But soon I'll open any door.

Everybody knows the secret,
Everybody knows the score.
I have finally found a place to live
In the presence of the Lord.
In the presence of the Lord.

I have finally found a way to live
Just like I never could before.
And I know I don't have much to give,
But I can open any door.

Everybody knows the secret,
I said everybody knows the score.
I have finally found a way to live
In the color of the Lord.
In the color of the Lord.

In his autobiography, Clapton elaborates on the beginnings of his prayer life — that 1987 rock-bottom moment at the rehab treatment center.

"I was in complete despair," Clapton wrote. "In the privacy of my room, I begged for help. I had no notion who I thought I was talking to, I just knew that I had come to the end of my tether … and, getting down on my knees, I surrendered. Within a few days I realized that … I had found a place to turn to, a place I'd always known was there but never really wanted, or needed, to believe in. From that day until this, I have never failed to pray in the morning, on my knees, asking for help, and at night, to express gratitude for my life and, most of all, for my sobriety. I choose to kneel because I feel I need to humble myself when I pray, and with my ego, this is the most I can do. If you are asking why I do all this, I will tell you … because it works, as simple as that."

He married a young woman that that worked in a small shop and didn't know who he was. They have three daughters two years apart. I wish him well.

Coffejunkie? have you taken your hands off of him, and handed him over to the Lord? here Lord save my son, no matter what it takes? and accept the way God chooses to?

My favorite book is Hind's Feet on High Places. I have been in, and have reached many of the places as Much-Afraid had. It's hard letting go and trusting something you can not see, but you know It's there. In His wisdom and love for her, He gave her two companions, Sorrow and Suffering to help her on journey up to the high Places, where she becomes Grace and Glory, and Sorrow and Suffering become Joy and Peace. I have been in many places in her journey, the Furnace of Egypt, the Forests of Danger and Tribulation, the Sea of Loneliness, and I'm sure you have too. I'll keep your son in all of my prayers.

What beautiful lyrics. Did you post the video earlier, Pages? I've not read all the posts, just here and there so I may have missed it. Oh well, just in case I'll post it anyway. And thank you, as I had never heard this before. :)

That has been around since 1969, I think. Blind Faith was the band Eric Clapton had after the break up of Cream.

June 7th was the 46th anniversary of their first concert that drew over 10,000 people.

This is from Cream, they also did "Sunshine of Your Love", "Strange Brew", "Crossroad"s, and the"Tales of Brave Ulysses"

It was put on your hip huggers and love beads, take off your shoes time.

As I read the post yesterday I was still in a bad place. When I read Pages post with the lyrics of the song posted and asked If I had gave it all the God (my son). I stopped and tears started running down my face. I turned off the laptop and just sit quietly for a few minutes. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks... 'Be Still and Know That I Am GOD"!! The flood gates were opened, I sobbed such mournful cries, "Lord, he is yours, I give him to You". Think it was the hardest thing I have ever done. But, honestly a burden was lifted off me.

Reminded me of the old church song we always sang at church when I was younger, 'Rolled Away, Rolled Away, I remember when my burdens rolled away'. Praise God!

Thank you for being such compassionate, caring, people and God Bless each and every one of you. :blowkiss:

So good to read this. Now that you've given it to God I will quote my dear momma... Stand back and let God do his work.

"Unraveling The Lies of Jodi Arias" will be on the ID channel tonight at 8pm Eastern time. It says it's "new" which I assume means not a re-run. Guess I'll DVR it. Think we'll learn anything we don't already know? :groucho: It's doubtful, lol. Happy Sunday all

Tell her "Come on DOWN!!!!" LOL!
That's my kind of kid!
Next she'll be wanting to run backhoes and learning how to jump trenches with them, he, he, he!

HEY! It gives them a chance to learn "skills"!!!!! :floorlaugh:

Sometimes, working on a vehicle makes kids appreciate it that much more. They'll have second thoughts about trying to spin out with the parking brake, checking their fluids when the "idiot lights" start flashing, or seeing how high they can "rap out" their engine.

I've have never had a wreck, knock on wood. I've been t-boned by a 16 year old in his dad's big ol' Cordova when I had a Corolla. I do NOT like small vehicles.

I really think kids learn respect for vehicles when they have to drop a trannie, replace their brakes and brake fluid, or trouble shoot their electrical.

That's just me though!:blushing:

Rodeo terms defined

Average: describes aggregate score for a contestant who competed in more than one round

Calf roper: a tie-down roper

Chute: the pen holding an animal safely in position

Covering: staying on for at least eight seconds, the minimum time

Box: the area a horse and rider back into before making a roping or steer wrestling run in a timed event.

Breaking the barrier: breaking the box too soon and failing to give the animal enough of a head start, results in 10-second penalty

Bullfighter: athlete who protects the bull rider after he dismounts or is bucked off

Bulldogger: a steer wrestler

Bronc Rein: saddle a bronc rider holds onto at a specific position that he determines based on the size and bucking habits of the horse

Barrier: the line at the front of the box the contestant and horse cannot cross until the animal has a head start

Barrelman: an entertainer using a barrel to distract a bull after a ride

Penalty: a punishment in timed events; 10 seconds for breaking the barrier and secons for a one-hind leg catch in team roping.

Piggin' String: in tie-down roping, the small rope used to tie a calf's legs together

Hung Up: when a bull rider or bareback rider cannot remove his hand from the rope or handle before he dismounts or is bucked off

Go-round: what each round of competition is called

Turn out: when a cowboy backs out of the rodeo

Nodding: when ready for the gateman to open the gate or release the calf or steer, the cowboy nods.

Hazer: in steer wrestling, the cowboy who rides on the right side of the steer

Pigtail: a piece of string attached to the barrier that breaks if a timed-event contestant's horse exits the box too soon.

Draw: the bucking horse or bull or calf or steer the cowboy is assigned at random before the rodeo

Ropes: the correct term for what a cowboy ties the calf or steer with

Rank: an adjective of praise and respect used to describe challenging roughstock

Drop: the way a bucking horse or bull may lower its front end suddenly while kicking out in the back or the way a calf or steer may lower its head to avoid a catch

Permit Holder: a contestant who has not won his first $1,000 at PRCA rodeos

Stock Contractors: companies that bring livestock to the arena

Spurs: what cowboys wear on their heels and have dulled rowels that cannot penetrate animal skin

Try: a noun used for cowboys and livestock, denotes grit, determination, fitness, stamina and resilience

Score: points awarded for the difficulty of the ride and cowboys skill in riding in roughstock events, or the length of time the head start is given to the calf or steer in timed events

Flankman: a cowboy or cowgirl who works in the bucking chutes, adjusting the flank strap around the animal before the ride

Crossfire Penalty: in team roping, if the header doesn't change the direction of the steer before the heeler catches, the run is disqualified

Header/Heeler: two partners in team roping; the header throws the first rope over the animal's head or horns and the heeler throws the second rope to catch the hind legs

Flank Strap: a strap placed in the area where a human's belt would go, encouraging the animal to kick out behind itself rather than rear up

Judges: those who ensure participants follow rules and determine times for runs in timed events and scores in the roughstock events. They also record penalties and inspect the arena, chutes and livestock before competition

Riggin': a suitcase-style handhold customized to a rider's grip and attached to a molded piece of leather that is cinched around the horse's girth

Dally: in team roping, each roper, after throwing his loop, wrap the loose rope around his saddle horn - Dallies- and the two ropers move their horses to face each other, pulling the ropes taut to stop the clock

Pickup Men: two mounted cowboys who help riders dismount, release a bucking horse's flank strap and escort the horses and bulls to the exit gate

Reride: if a cowboy's score is affected by equipment failure or a horse or bull that doesn't buck to performance specifications, the judges may offer the cowboy another chance on a different horse or bull

Timed events: steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping and steer riding; events in which contestants who make the fastest qualified runs win

Triple Crown Winner: a cowboy who wins three world championships the same year

Standings: a professional cowboy's success is measured in earnings and they may keep track of where they rank in yearly earnings in several sets of standings

Gold card member, life member: a 1- year, dues payming member of the PRCA who has reached his 50th birthday, or a 20-year dues-paying member of any age.

Slack: excess entries at some rodeos may be scheduled for preliminary (sack) competition before the rodeo opens to the public

Mark out: in the bareback and saddle bronc riding, a cowboy's feet must be above the point of the horse's shoulders when the horse's front feet hit the ground. Doing so marks the horse out and failing to do so misses him out, causing the ride to be disqualified

Flags: because timed events are measured in tenths of seconds, judges in the arena drop flags to signal the timers to stop the clocks

Left (or right) delivery: many bucking animals prefer to stand in the chute facing a particular direction, so they can leave the chute in the direction they prefer

Hooey: a knot used by cowboys to finish tying the calf's legs together in tie-down roping

Roughstock: the bucking horses and bulls used in bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and bull riding. Bred and raised for the jobs in most cases.

Happy Sunday morning all!

Not much happenin' around here! Another HOT :hot: day!! :gaah: staying in... wish we could get some rain...

Just made arrangements to meet up with my best friend of 54 years... we have our 50th High School Class reunion coming up July 24-25th. There's a "gathering" Friday night, so I plan on staying overnight at a motel in W. Sacramento, and she'll pick me up early and we'll tour the old high school and go by old houses we lived in. I met her in 9th grade when my family moved from Novato to Davis. And than Saturday night, which my friend can't attend, will be a big dinner/dance. And no the Huz is not going - he said he already went with me to one of them (I think the 40th) and doesn't need to go again!

Anyway - better get myself going here!

Later! :seeya:

That would be nice, but he has Aspergers and it's very hard for him to stay on task, and complete things. Almost anything. He's been really focused on becoming a blacksmith since he found out his great great great grandfather was one. But he doesn't want to shoe any horses or make pretty geegaws to sell at county fairs and such. Nope, he wants to melt down his own iron (he's been collecting old railroad spikes and anything else he can, and has dug a hole in ground in the orchard, and started melting them down) and make swords and knives.

A car/truck to work on isn't an option for him at the first. DH has everything to tear down and put a engine back together. Cherry picker, engines stand, pneumatic tools, presses, two Craftsman"s toolboxes and a roll around. That is just in a two garage. He has the loft and well house full of crap. Old bumpers from his 70 El Camino, fenders from his 1950 Chevy truck, an engine or two, I think you get my drift, it sounds like you have a few of those things laying around because of your BF.

I just came on to post that. I finally have the internet back, but I don't know for how long as the weather is still bad.

Been having so much trouble with the internet the past couple of days because of all the storms. :sheesh:

Now the internet is blinking on/off. :(

Well, at least I can try to post this:

Escaped Inmate David Sweat Shot Near Canadian Border

"Convicted murderer and escaped inmate David Sweat was shot near the Canadian border Sunday, multiple New York State officials with knowledge of the investigation and manhunt told NBC News.

Senior officials said Sweat was wounded but is alive and was taken into custody just a few miles south of the Canadian border..."
