How funny, now I have an add on my screen for a Dyson vacuum ! Seriously! :floorlaugh:

Sorry to be quoting myself, but I just realized that the popup ad for the vacuum was on my ipad. I don't have them on my desk top.

ETA:  Yes they are on my desk top, I mean for all kinds of stuff. They're just to the far right on my screen and I've unconsciously been ignoring them, lol. On my ipad they're right in the middle in between the posts across the whole screen . Really annoying. :gaah:

We just got a message from our Village that the bridge that crosses the river and cuts our town in half will probably close tomorrow night or Wednesday morning due to flooding. When I crossed over it today there was no dip in the level of the dam and the water was rising. They are urging residents to start sandbagging. Hoping we are as safe as we have always been .... so far the rising water has made it to within a block of our home a few times over the years.

There is so much standing water in the farmers fields and many crops are ruined for this year, some fields could not even be planted. Corn, beans, hay, strawberries and I don't know what else, probably cabbage. The ground is saturated and has nowhere to drain. This could get interesting.....

I really appreciate the vacuum recommendations and will do my research this evening. I have another question: apparently something in the laundry basket was wet (DH swim trunks) and caused my cotton capris to have red mildew dots all over it. How do I get them out? Or are my capris ruined? I can't believe this happened, but as my DH does the laundry, I can't say too much. TIA

Oh no!!! Will you be able to get groceries or supplies with the bridge out? Do you have to evacuate? This is awful! What can we do to help from afar?

I probably win the award for worst housekeeper ever. I absolutely can't stand the sound of vacuum cleaners. I'd rather use a broom and a mop (which doesn't work so well with carpets!). Vacuum cleaners to me are the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard.
Uh no, that would be me lol. At least you use a broom and mop. I am not even there yet. But I will be, I just need to get each room to where I can clean it easily and do away with clutter. That would help!

I am so far behind in reading as bad things just keep happening in my own life. I'll just say for now that June 2015 has NOT been kind to me and my little family. I'm just catching up here and I am seeing so much sadness and heartache :frown:

cj ~ As mama's, we desperately assume (or want to) that we can rescue our adult children, by loving them away from their bad choices. As much as it hurts us, it's simply not possible. You have been given some excellent advice from YesorNo, Bernina, Wagara, IlLikeToBendPages, Zuri and Kensie. I have nothing else to offer that hasn't already been said, other than for you to re-read your signature.
"Be still and know that I am GOD. Psalm 46:10"

Spell ~ Thinking of you as you grieve the losses of both your mom and FIL within 3 short months of other :frown:

Pages~ I am just now seen a picture of baby Lily. :heartbeat:
I swear I think that she's one of the prettiest babies I have ever seen. I just want to pick that precious baby up and kiss those little chubby cheeks! I can't even let my mind go to intentional harm that beautiful helpless child has had to endure! Sending prayers to YOUR family that she will be safe and in the arms of all that love and will protect her soon!

Zuri~ I asked you about your back and you graciously answered me. Please know that I replied back with a very l o n g post...that I somehow "lost" before I had a chance to hit the damn submit button! I was so mad/aggravated that I had to get offline.
I will respond again, but I just wanted you to know that I don't envy you at all! There is nothing worse than serious back injuries/problems.

I also want to say to everyone that I am forever grateful that we have this Sidebar forum. A place where we can come together with any heartache or problem with no fear of being judged. With people and their willingness to help others, and share their own thoughts and experiences.

I am truly thankful for having all of you in my life.

How is your daughter and have you all encountered any more problems with Dick's family? As in mother from hell?

Hi Bernina , I had a Eureka years ago that sucked the buttons off the back of our couch!!

My wolf dogs, and Sammies before them, killed Eureka's and Hoover's at the rate of one a year. :gaah:It has a lot to do with the fine undercoat that those type of dogs have, gets in the motor and burns them up....really......there be smoke! :floorlaugh:

Aww, that is so sweet of you, Zuri. I happen to be on the side of the river with the grocery store, but I did stock up on groceries today (should the streets off the main route flood and we can't get to the corner). Our biggest problem will be anyone who has to go to work, as it is the main route for most of the county. We will have to backtrack a few miles, hop on the expressway and come back through our town on the other side of the river. Not easy, but actually only adds about 10 minutes to travel time. Glad I won't be one of those drivers.

We are about 2 feet under flood stage right now, expected to crest by tomorrow night. The last (and only) flood I experienced here was creeping down our street... and was fascinating. Not so much for the homes that had water, though.

Oh my goodness, Spell. That sounds scary, I had no idea you had so much water there. I mean, wow. I hope and pray everything turns out ok, please stay safe.

I can't really vacuum much, it kills my back. And, like you, I hate it anyway. :/ So I have someone come in every other week to do that. I can't see the dust on my medium brown wood floors in between time, LOL. If there's a mess that needs cleaning up, I'll use the vacuum, or use a broom. Except the kitchen where I use a broom and a Swiffer Mop. I do clean toilets and sinks and counter tops daily though. I actually do love clean. But my back doesn't. :/

Have you already washed your capris? If so, I don't think this works, but this page has some suggestions. Oxi-Clean seems to be the miracle product. And use warm (not hot!) water, and do not put them in the dryer. Good luck, Zuri. This looks to be quite a tough problem.

Ok, so as I said in an earlier post, we watched part of the Glenn Campbell CNN special last night. And my DH said a few minutes ago that he doesn't think he wants to watch the ending, because he doesn't want to watch Glenn go down. So I said, ok, but I want to see the rest, you don't have to watch it. And then I came in and turned it on. It wasn't more than a minute when he came in and said, what's this, you already started ? Damn, I'm being excluded? LOL. :floorlaugh: And I said, well, I thought you didn't want to see it, but I'll pause it if you want to see it. So I did. LOL again. :giggle:

I am afraid my DH put them in the dryer and they are goners. I will wear them for cleaning lol. And painting. My body is now freaking out and both legs are numb and my back is screaming. Oh well. At least the dining room has now been cleared of the kitchen items and looks really good. One down. Thanks again for all the advice!

We've just had the clouds "spitting" the last few days, today it came down pretty decently for about 15 minutes and another round is coming in the next half hour.
But once it starts, it'll take weeks for it to take a break.

So much for the local weather person's "0% chance of rain".

Ok, kiddo, as your newly, self appointed MD, put the mask down, and step away from the cape and the cleaning products!!!!!!:truce:

I'm able-bodied, and can't claim any excuses other than hating the sound of a vacuum cleaner, so you're my role model here. If I could get just one room done I would be soooo happy!

I perpetually suffer from Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome (CHAOS). I've learned to live with it and don't beat up on myself too much any more. After all, I DID open my home to daughter/son-in-law/granddaughter living with me (after looking forward to being an empty-nester), so in reality, I asked for it. Sometimes -- in a weird way -- the clutter of a lively family life is just as comforting as orderliness.

Fun............
61 mph wind gusts just south of us at the Prescott Airport and 1 inch hail in Prescott Valley, also south of us. Sky is really dark in that direction and moving towards us.

And another adventure begins!!!!!
