Hey all! :wave:

Wash - I dry my clothes on a clothes line! Ironing - I "used" to love to iron - my Mom paid me 25 cents a piece; loved doing my Dad's hankerchiefs!! LOL! :lol:

My Huz has started to have back problems; he messed it up when he was younger, and giving him problems. He's had difficultly sleeping the last few nights, and took some my pain pills I have left over from my hip surgery; at least he can get a good night's sleep with them. He said he was going to call his doctor today, but I don't think he has - yet!
Also, he has an appointment down the hill in Sacramento with his heart doctor to get his results from his tests a couple of weeks ago. I can't understand why can't doctors just call you with the results, instead of us spending $$ on gas and wear and tear on our car to drive all the way down there.... :gaah:

Wimbledon starts to today!! I guess I know what I will be watching for the next 2 weeks! :happydance:

I actually liked to iron- I just listened to the radio and the work just finished fast. Did your mother sprinkle the shirts with water and put them in the refrig before you ironed them? She taught me that.
I don't iron anymore as most things are permanent press and just come out of the dryer wrinkle-free (if you take them out right away).

We just got a message from our Village that the bridge that crosses the river and cuts our town in half will probably close tomorrow night or Wednesday morning due to flooding. When I crossed over it today there was no dip in the level of the dam and the water was rising. They are urging residents to start sandbagging. Hoping we are as safe as we have always been .... so far the rising water has made it to within a block of our home a few times over the years.

There is so much standing water in the farmers fields and many crops are ruined for this year, some fields could not even be planted. Corn, beans, hay, strawberries and I don't know what else, probably cabbage. The ground is saturated and has nowhere to drain. This could get interesting.....:thinking:

So you have had more rain than we have been having. Too bad about the farmer's crops. Such a shame, but I guess that's just nature and to be expected some times.

I really appreciate the vacuum recommendations and will do my research this evening. I have another question: apparently something in the laundry basket was wet (DH swim trunks) and caused my cotton capris to have red mildew dots all over it. How do I get them out? Or are my capris ruined? I can't believe this happened, but as my DH does the laundry, I can't say too much. TIA

Mildew- that's tough, but try this:
You should be able to get the mildew stains out of your capris by soaking it in warm soapy water and borax. Or, combine 1/4 teaspoon of color safe bleach and 1/4 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide. With a toothbrush, scrub the stain until it is gone and then launder in washer.
Be careful with the peroxide as it may stain the fabric (test it on the capris on the underside of the fabric- on a seam- first [use a Q-tip dipped in the peroxide to dab] or just use the color-safe bleach).

I'm still on the Dog thing, lol. Just have been wondering for a while now why my fur baby's behavior is so bizarre long BEFORE the bad weather comes, or sometimes even if we don't have any bad weather at all. Yet there is usually obvious clouds and/or lightning in the distance, so there is bad weather not too far off we assume.

His behaviors (such as right now): whining, sniffing the air above and around him, nervously running around, obsessively on my heels, etc. I long ago deducted that it had something to do with the barometric pressure. Seems I'm at least partially correct. Has anyone else here had issues such as this with their dogs? If so, maybe this will be of interest to you. Unfortunately, by the sounds of things at the moment, I'm afraid I'll have another sleepless night because of my fur baby. :sigh:

I know what you mean, we ironed everything it seems. I remember ironing pillow cases and sheets. That was a really long time ago, lol. And I hate ironing now, Downy Wrinkle Release works great on most things, lol.

I remember the bluing to whiten laundry and the starch, too- and Ship n Shore blouses.
My mother would iron all sorts of things- sheets, underwear, anything. She said she wanted her clothes to look nice in the drawers and closets (like anyone would go look in her drawers and closets - but, you know- I did the same ). I am my mother. :facepalm:

Oh my gosh! I forgot about sprinkling. My mother had a bottle, I think it was an old soda bottle, with a sprinkle top on it. We sprinkled everything before we ironed it. Here you have me going down Memory Lane, lol.

ETA: you mentioned sprinkling in your post too Y/N. How did I skip over that ? :waitasec:

On the WFFA radar there are storms up around the Red River and down below Palestine heading towards Lufkin. My ankle throbs where I had surgery on it when a storm is coming. The weather also effects my BIL who had a stroke has terrible headaches before a front moves though. He went to bed yesterday evening and stayed in the bed all today. So something is changing. Anna's dog, Eva, also will go hide in my bathroom linen closet before there are storms.

I just saw a short video of Lily talking and moving around when she hears Loli voice, and several photo's of little mama holding her baby and they're both smiling.

Today was court, all went very well. Loli-Pop and little mama and a few others have unlimited access to Lily. Little mama will be there during the day, and Pop said he found out he can take three weeks of FLMA, so he'll be with her at night. It will like this forty five days, and then little mama can go back home. New daddy was in court this morning. All alone. It was sad to see. If he is/was taking the blame for what ever happened to Lily for his mother - he's lost his little girl. He'll never be alone with her, he'll have to fight to get supervised visits. Hmmm I just thought of child support and if little mama has thought of it? In my family if the man/woman would just move on we'd let that child support go on by. I do want to give new daddy the doubt, but I remembered my sister telling me the first week we picked her up that little mama told her that Lily didn't like new daddy. I took that as Lily could feel a tense new dad, uncertain about a new baby, and she could feel that, but maybe it was something more.
