Lost Romance
A guy is telling his brother how he got dumped by his girlfriend.
“She was traveling in Germany and met some guy with a lot of money. Evidently he owns a really big sheep farm.”
His brother says, “Are you saying you got dumped for a German Shepherd?”

Vet Bill
A woman's pet parrot hadn't talked for days, so she took it to a veterinarian to see what could be wrong.
He laid the parrot on his exam table and checked the bird with his lab equipment. After a few minutes, he let her know her parrot was dying.
"Oh no," she moaned, "Don't you have any other test besides those?"
"Yes, I have two more tests," the vet said. He whistles, and out trots a Labrador Retriever.
The dog approaches the parrot, sniffs it for awhile, then shakes his head to indicate the bird is dying.
The vet then leaves and returns carrying a cat. The cat nudges the parrot, licks it, and shakes its head to show the bird is dying.
"I'm sorry," said the vet. "Your bill is $200."
"$200 to tell me that my parrot is dying?" replied the woman.
"Well, if you'd accepted my first diagnosis, the bill would have been $20. But after the lab report and the cat scan, it's $200."

"Redneck Holding The Bag"
Two rednecks are waiting for the bus, and one is holding a large bag.
“What’s in the bag?” asks the other redneck.
The redneck with the bag replies, “Porcupines.”
“How many porcupines you got in that bag, then?”
“I’m not telling you,” says the redneck with the bag.
“If I guess how many porcupines you got in that bag will you give me one?” asks the other redneck.
“Tell you what, if you guess how many porcupines I got in this bag I’ll give you both of ‘em.”

"Gray Hair"
A young girl observed that her mother had some strands of gray in her hair and was intrigued by this. So like kids do, she came right out and asked about it.
"Mommy, how come you have some white hairs in there with the black ones?”
Her mother thought about this for a second, then smiled and said, "Honey, it’s like this. Whenever you do something you know you shouldn’t do and it makes me unhappy, another one of my hairs turns from black to white."
The young daughter took this in, then asked, "Mommy, why are ALL of granny’s hairs white?"

Ostrich only have two toes?all other birds have three or four toes.
Ostriches can be called a true dinosaur since ostrich skeletons and fossils have been found that date back to 120 million years.
The immune system of an adult ostrich is one of the most advanced among mankind.
The Ostrich is the largest living bird in the world.
About half of the world's 70,000 bald eagles live in Alaska.

Going to be another rainy day here...

Talking about dogs; Little Bubby knows when the weather is changing and acts all whinny and clingy. Then when it thunders, he is like a wild dog!
Now Sims (our older dog who passed away few years ago) took it all in stride. He was a very smart dog! When Bubby was just a pup and would do something that Sims knew was a 'No No', Sims would nip and herd Bubby away from it. He even would herd him back in the yard if Bubby stepped out of the yard!!

Sims loved riding in golf carts and who have the biggest smile on his face when we would take him for a ride. One day a man was riding by the house in his golf cart, Sims took off running, caught up with the cart and jumped in!! LOL The man was shock that a little black dog jumped in his seat, sit up and ready for a ride :) We explained that Sims loved riding in golf carts, so the man took him for a short ride:) Gosh I miss that dog :(

My dear grandma said that if you could not get anything cleaned using one of these 3 products (bleach, vinegar, baking soda), it can't be cleaned! LOL

My mom always told me to play like I was the 'wife/mother' of my own home when she wanted me to do ironing, cleaning, dishes, dusting, general housework...Like that would make be want to!!?? LOL

Oh Forgot! Pages that is wonderful news!! So happy for everyone!! Sweet Lily :happydance: :blowkiss:

CJ, your Sims must have been such a treat to have around. I can just picture the shock on the golf cart driver's face when an unknown dog jumped aboard. That was a very fun story.

Water is over the bridge this morning, so it had been closed. This is going to be one heck of a drive for people to detour around, since we don't have an easy route for most. There is no water on the road near our street ..... yet. I will probably take a walk to check it out, or attempt to get around the detour to go buy flea med for all the critters later.

With all all the talk about cleaning, I will add that I rarely use fabric softener. I use vinegar instead. Vinegar and water makes a good mirror/glass cleaner and car wash or floor/carpet stain cleaner, too. Actually, it is very multi-purpose and saves a lot on buying cleaning products. If you trim your pets nails, baking soda with a touch of water to make a paste will stop any bleeding if you nip too far.... ouch.

Yes, Sims was a heck of a dog! We miss him a lot and so does Bubby. I have so many sweet memories of Sims :) Our town (or Hamlet) is just a little over 500 people and just about every other household has a golf cart. It's normal too see kids, seniors, young married couples, families riding around in their golf carts.

And so true about vinegar as a cleaning product. I took my grandma's advice and followed it ;) But, didn't know about the soda for the bleeding for your dog nails...thanks for that tip :)

I'm able-bodied, and can't claim any excuses other than hating the sound of a vacuum cleaner, so you're my role model here. If I could get just one room done I would be soooo happy!

I perpetually suffer from Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome (CHAOS). I've learned to live with it and don't beat up on myself too much any more. After all, I DID open my home to daughter/son-in-law/granddaughter living with me (after looking forward to being an empty-nester), so in reality, I asked for it. Sometimes -- in a weird way -- the clutter of a lively family life is just as comforting as orderliness.

I love this! CHAOS!!!! I am so tired of being embarrassed about the way my house looks and I haven't had people over since December 5, 1998. Before that I had parties and people over for dinner. I am now using CHAOS as another diagnosis, in case anyone has a question lol.

YoNo gave me cleaning tips last year and she would post about her spring cleaning, washing walls etc. I was in awe. I received so many good tips from everyone who is "passionate" about cleaning lol. What is funny, is that all my horse tack, trunk, blankets etc are clean and organized. When I worked, everything was clean and organized. There is a disconnect somewhere here at home lol.

There is a saying that horse women have cleaner stalls, horses and barns than their own home. I think Bernina is the exception here lol.

I just saw a short video of Lily talking and moving around when she hears Loli voice, and several photo's of little mama holding her baby and they're both smiling.

Today was court, all went very well. Loli-Pop and little mama and a few others have unlimited access to Lily. Little mama will be there during the day, and Pop said he found out he can take three weeks of FLMA, so he'll be with her at night. It will like this forty five days, and then little mama can go back home. New daddy was in court this morning. All alone. It was sad to see. If he is/was taking the blame for what ever happened to Lily for his mother - he's lost his little girl. He'll never be alone with her, he'll have to fight to get supervised visits. Hmmm I just thought of child support and if little mama has thought of it? In my family if the man/woman would just move on we'd let that child support go on by. I do want to give new daddy the doubt, but I remembered my sister telling me the first week we picked her up that little mama told her that Lily didn't like new daddy. I took that as Lily could feel a tense new dad, uncertain about a new baby, and she could feel that, but maybe it was something more.

I haven't finished reading all posts yet, but I wanted to reply to this before I have to get offline :frown:

Pages ~
This is wonderful news! I thought I had read way back that Loli would be taking Lily to her home on Thursday? I am probably confused, but I don't have the strength or time to go back and find it to reread it. I guess my question is, are they keeping Lily in the hospital for 45 days OR is Lily going to Loli and Pops house for 45 days?

I don't want/mean to offend you Pages, but I'm gonna say it anyway. I don't think it's sad at all that new puff daddy was in court alone. I now feel like HE IS the one who harmed/ABUSED this precious defenseless beautiful baby. :furious: I DON'T think he's covering for his mom...I'm not saying his mom was any better, but... That's How I feel, and I hate his guts.
There I said it. And now,
I rest my case:gavel:

Wooooooo! Hope all are safe, but IMO, that sounds AWESOME!!! Wish I could see it! Can you take some pics?

As per usual, the bulk of it split when it hit our hills and mesas on the south, but the lightning, wind and thunder was AWESOME!!!! There is nothing cooler that lightning and thunder in the desert/ high desert at night, it is INTENSE!:happydance:

BBM I ironed for my mother (but she didn't pay me ). She had me do all the dishtowels, handkerchiefs, my father's white work shirts, etc. She wouldn't let me older sister iron because she always burned my father's shirts. :shame::floorlaugh:
I actually liked to iron- I just listened to the radio and the work just finished fast. Did your mother sprinkle the shirts with water and put them in the refrig before you ironed them? She taught me that.
I don't iron anymore as most things are permanent press and just come out of the dryer wrinkle-free (if you take them out right away).

*raises hand* Yep, it was a chore in our house, no money, and I had to iron sheets and pillow cases too. With spray starch!!!!!! Remember Niagara and Faultless?

Images "Google Images" vintage spray starch.

I haven't owned an iron for over 20 years now.........that just about sums up my wardrobe. I have just a few things in plastic that are for important things, like court, godforbid, and that's it. (they're dresses) I gave all my heels away ages ago. And I'd be fit to be tied if I'm going to iron 500 ct. Egyption cotton sheets and duvets.

I ironed for the lady across the street from us and watched soap operas with her. She didn't sprinkle hers, but I knew many that did. Do you remember when you added bluing and starch to your laundry? and not from a spray can? Do you remember white cotton blouses from Ship n Shore?

I never understood ironing bras or underwear.

The only thing I use Mrs. Stewart's Bluing for is show chickens and horses, lol!

It makes the white critters blindingly white!!!!! :floorlaugh:
Borax goes into every load because we have hard well water and the "dirt" out here will leave a pigment on whites, socks are a booger. Clorox is a must.

I'm still on the Dog thing, lol. Just have been wondering for a while now why my fur baby's behavior is so bizarre long BEFORE the bad weather comes, or sometimes even if we don't have any bad weather at all. Yet there is usually obvious clouds and/or lightning in the distance, so there is bad weather not too far off we assume.

His behaviors (such as right now): whining, sniffing the air above and around him, nervously running around, obsessively on my heels, etc. I long ago deducted that it had something to do with the barometric pressure. Seems I'm at least partially correct. Has anyone else here had issues such as this with their dogs? If so, maybe this will be of interest to you. Unfortunately, by the sounds of things at the moment, I'm afraid I'll have another sleepless night because of my fur baby. :sigh:

Had that with my samoyeds. I was picking up my kids at the bus stop and a storm was coming through. My old bud Bosco actually pulled my back yard chain link fence in and up to get into one of the horse complex carports. Looked like a bear had wrestled with it.

Morning all!

Spellbound - I hope you're safe from the floods!! Take care!

ILikeToBendPages - so glad to hear that Lily will be going to Loli-Pop and little mama will be able to hold and see her!! :loveyou:

Well - the Huz made a mistake about having a doctor's appointment yesterday - it's for Today!! :gaah: So, we will have to make the trek down the hill again today! He only takes me along, as the car pool lane is from 3pm to 6pm - with 2 people in the car. But that's okay - he said he enjoyed my company!

Off to read the Holmes trial!

Later everyone! Hope you all have a great day!

[h=3]Arizona marks two-year anniversary of firefighters' deaths[/h]
Statement from Gov Doug Ducey:

"Today marks a solemn anniversary for the state of Arizona, as we remember the 19 brave men who gave their lives at Yarnell Hill two years ago.

"These elite Granite Mountain Hotshots represented the very best of our state and our nation. We'll never forget their service, nor take for granted their sacrifice. Our thoughts and prayers are with them every day, and continue to be with their families, the entire Yarnell community and all of the firefighters and first responders who risk their lives every day. To perform an inherently dangerous job in selfless defense of others takes a rare form of courage. These men did it daily, willingly and without hesitation. They were heroes, and they will forever be remembered as such.

"In commemoration of this anniversary, and out of respect for our fallen 19, I have ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered from sunrise until sunset today, Tuesday, June 30, 2015."
