Rained all day yesterday, all night, still raining... I'm really tired of all this wet stuff! Been a very wet Spring and so far; a wet Summer.

I am printing out the cleaning posts lol. I have taken the wonderful advice from my cleaning gurus here and applied it where I can. YoNo told me to use a tooth brush in the crevices, instead of the scrub brush that I was trying to use which was too big. EUREKA!!!! An piece of molding inside my front door was discolored and after I looked further, it was wet! I had thought it was just a lot of dirt. Water is coming in the bottom of the front door somehow. It is a new door so maybe something got messed up on installation.

See! This is what happens when you clean. You find things that are problems and I was just happy before thinking it was dirt, when it isn't and probably something not good. EXCUSE #973.

LOL

Thats my problem too whenever I try to tackle a cleaning project like cleaning up my work room. No sooner than I get going on 1 corner I run into something that keeps me from continuing.
So I end up having to stop cleaning the room and do that first.

Then next thing I know its like a big chain reaction and I end up in the garage or outside working on something that has nothing to do with cleaning the work room. LOL

I end up asking myself:

"How come I am in the garage when I am supposed to be cleaning the spare work room?"

LOL

Happens every time and the work room never ends up getting cleaned.

I think I have concluded that I need to wait to afford to build another room on the house to hold the crap from all the other rooms. Build 1 new designated room that will be filled to the roof that will have nothing but crap that I can throw in there from all the other rooms.

That way instead of the entire house looking like a "Hoarder Episode", I have just 1 room like that and all the other rooms can be kept clean. LOL

The attic doesnt work because its already full. LOL

Such a shame. His only son. I wonder if this will be an excuse?

Could be--but doubt it. A lot of them happened before his son's death.

I am the only one in my house that doesn't care if we see cooler temps or rain---I'm so tired of rain! We haven't seen it in a while and I'm happy--!!!!!
It is odd to think that Pacific Northwest (Seattle) in drought! Weird weather!

It is too bad that the country cannot evenly distribute out the rain.

I was thinking of maybe a pipeline for water. Instead of an oil pipeline we could have a cross-country water pipeline that would go from East to West.

It would be sure to pass through the dry states like CA and AZ and Nevada. Then somehow have it setup where the wet spots can pipe their surplus rain water into it to get it out to CA and the western states that need it.

I think the issue with that idea is the money to run the pumps.
But maybe we could also run the pumps with windmill farms and solar panels so that the pumps work when they can.

There has got to be a way and I think it is worth investing in it.

A few years ago when our US government had allocated a bunch of money to kick start the economy I was screaming to my TV to please use it on road projects, bridges, and infrastructure. Ideas like this water pipeline would have been a good project too.

It would have created so many good jobs for people and also the end result would have been something really good for our country.

Now the money is all gone and we have nothing to show for it.
The banks got most of it and used it for their top level managers bonuses. What a waist and I am still upset about it.

Good Morning everyone here in the Sidebar: Travis Alexander Forum! I love that we are honoring him here and #Heinous' name is not linked with his any more.

Thank you to the Mod who changed it for us!

Over the weekend, DH and I went to a Furniture Exchange store, where all the rich people put their furniture, dishes, rugs etc on consignment. I have found some lovely pieces there for cheap, considering their original value. We were there to look at a free standing kitchen island that didn't cost $5K. We ended up buying it and I am thrilled. It came with 2 counter height chairs and once I paint it and change the top, I think it will be swell.

While we were there, I saw a rolled up rug with part of the pattern showing and knew instantly it was a Karastan Oriental rug as I peruse these on EBay. We bought that too for the River house in Maryland that was my MIL's and now my DH and his brother's home. We bought it for $225 and on EBay, the same rug sells for $1700. How cool is that!

Speaking of the River house, which has 150 feet of riverfront and was built in the 1930's, the house was left to my DH and BIL equally. My BIL and SIL are down there EVERY weekend and I rarely go down. This past weekend, I went down as my DH was there visiting his cousins, and found that my SIL has just taken over. The fridge and freezer were packed to the gills. Even if I wanted to, there was no room for me to bring down friends or food. This is a huge source of contention for me as my DH is too nice and says NOTHING.

Do any of you share a property in a similar situation and how do you make it work?

And another question:

Do any of you have a blue bedroom? If so what color blue is it? I have painted swatches of Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue and BM Tranquility Blue on the walls and I am amazed how blue intensifies on the walls. I am trying to go outside of my green comfort level and try something new. Need advice!

Zuri, what a wonderful place you found for great bargains. I would love to find a place like that. Sounds like you got some great deals. drooling!

I imagine your SIL feels at home at the shared place, and since you rarely go and they go often, she felt it was OK to basically take over. Do you feel comfortable enough to ask for some space dedicated to your family for the infrequent visits, or let her know you plan to come more often and need some space, too? Hope you can work it out peacefully and easily. Good luck.

no blue in our home, sorry. When we first moved in, every room was painted blue. It was so overwhelming that we got rid of anything blue.

It sounds like a wonderful place and I understand the situation and I hope you can find a peaceful way to work out the arrangements too.

I will someday be in a similar situation but not for many years hopefully. We have multiple siblings and most are in agreement our parents place will ultimately be sold as the will stipulates even division. For our case, selling the place is the only way it can be done fairly. For your case it is even tougher because you probably want the place to stay there and use it for your share of usage.

The problem I have is we expect trouble from 1 of our siblings. No place to go and no way to support. It is going to be rough on the siblings and I expect lawywers will end up being involved before its over.

Its so sad when people dont play fairly.

That is the root cause of these situations IMO. Someone always does not play fairly. Then the trouble starts.

For your situation, it sounds like they should have asked permission to take over as much as they have and keep people informed.

Maybe you can research how the Time-Share contracts work and get some legal information how time-shares work. That may give you some ideas on how to approach it fairly without causing trouble.

If everyone is supposed to get fair and equal usage then I just wish people would respect that. If others dont mind allowing 1 or more to get more usage then so long as permission is granted then that is all fine and dandy. The problem comes up when permission is not asked for.

I hate these situations and I am going to have to deal with similar as I mentioned. I already am getting anxiety about it and I still have some years before I will have to deal with it.

It is so sad. One thing I have sworn to do in my family is to never put anybody in that situation. I will do whatever I have to do to make sure things are spelled out to the "T" so other people dont have to deal with these things.

That is best advice I can give anyone. Make your own rules for your things and make sure it is legally spelled out in a will and have everything perfectly clear.

That extra place is a tough one and I suppose if I had owned it I would have had to have put in the will to sell it and divide proceeds UNLESS someone wants to buy out the others based on fair market value from 5 different appraisels averaged together and I would even list the appraiser companies to use in the will so there is no argument about that.

That would force the hands of whoever wanted it the most OR just sell it and divide the money and let people buy their own properties if they want. It sure would beat having family fighting going on. Its not the best solution but it would have worked I suppose.

Anyway, good luck and hope everything can be worked out civilly.
It is a tough situation.
Maybe the idea of looking at how time-share contracts work may help.
I know that sounds a little too formal but maybe formal agreements could help.

It does sound like a wonderful place. When can I sign up for my 1 week? Just kidding. LOL

Seriously though. Good Luck to you as you work things out.

4. Pick up litter in your neighborhood. It’s good exercise, it’s good for everyone and it’s contagious! Make it a point to pick up a piece everyday! Give homage to our dear Earth who has carried us everyday of our existence.

We do that ALL the time when we take a walk around our neighborhood!!

6. Make someone an offer they can’t refuse. A foot rub, hand massage, lend an ear, a shoulder or give a great big bear hug for no good reason.

I do that to my Huz all the time! :loveyou:

Good rant Bernina!! Totally agree! :skip:

Hatfield - also agree with you on the water pipeline! We definitely need the water here in California. I hear about all the flooding back East, and thinking - well - send the water HERE!! (sigh!)

I'm okay...

Zuri - YES! Love the name of our Sidebar!!

Yay! I did catch with the Holmes trial yesterday! Now better go over there so I won't be too behind!

I didn't see that and I was totally lost today. It really screwed up my morning routine, and the timing couldn't have been worse for me since losing my beloved Macky :anguish:
I haven't really been able to sleep or eat since I got her "probable diagnoses" on the 23rd of June. I had already taken her to the Vet on June 19th, when she had just a little "cough" only whenever she got excited...i.e., my daughter's pulling up in the drive, coming in etc.. and after she greeted them (or anybody) she wouldn't cough anymore. She was put on an antibiotic and given cough pills that day. I can't yet finish what happened by the 23rd, as I am still too devastated to even say it out loud.

I really can't afford to lose any weight as I am now starting to look anorexic.
I'm going to try and get some sleep now, But THANK GOODNESS the forum is back.

Oh Dmacky, I'm so, so sorry about you losing your beloved fur baby. I know how devastating it is. (((hugs)))

Cleaning Tips

CLEAN OVEN
2 oz. Dawn,
4 oz. bottled Lemon Juice,
8 oz. White Vinegar,
10 oz. Water.
The secret is to spray on surface, let sit overnight (or longer) and then wipe with clean, wet cloths to remove residue.
*In the oven, do NOT use heat, just spray, let sit, wipe clean.
*For showers, just spray, rinse and if you like the shine, wipe with dry towels.
*The secret on whatever you chose to clean is to let it sit, then rinse off the residue. Amazing stuff!
*NOTE: In countries where you do not have Dawn, you may substitute a good quality decreasing dish-washing liquid

QUICK FIXES
•Make plant leaves glossy and shiny by rubbing them with a little mayonnaise and a paper towel. They'll shine for weeks!
•Does your shower curtain stick? Rub hair conditioner on the rod, and the rings will move smoothly.
•Use a wide candle as a pincushion. The wax helps pins and needles slide in and out of fabric more easily.
•If you've lost your bathtub plug, use a golf ball as a substitute. It stays in place and rolls back if dislodged.

KITCHEN AIDS
•Ripen green tomatoes by storing them in a paper bag with an already ripe apple for a couple of days. Don't put more than five or six tomatoes in one bag.
•Remove teacup stains by rubbing the inside with a cut lemon. For extra scrubbing power, dip the lemon in kosher salt. Then, wash in hot, soapy water.
•Speed up slow moving ketchup by inserting a plastic drinking straw into the bottle.
•Check to see if a cake is done by sticking an uncooked strand of spaghetti into its center. If there's moist batter on it when you pull it out, the cake needs to bake longer. If it's dry, the cake is done.
•The best storage container for a raw onion after it is cut is a airtight screw top glass jar. A cut onion can be refrigerated this way for up to a week.

CLEANING
•Remove dirty or greasy fingerprints from painted walls or non-washable wallpaper by rubbing the area with a slice of white bread.
•To get animal hair off car seats or the sofa, run a rubber glove over the upholstery. Hair sticks to the glove and comes right off.
•Clean a bathroom mirror with shaving cream, then wipe with a soft cloth. It helps defog the mirror after showers.
•Shine small copper items by rubbing gently with a cotton swab dipped in ketchup. Rub off with a cotton cloth and they'll gleam.

How cool, using spaghetti to test if cake is done. Sounds better than using a knife, makes a smaller hole, LOL. :)
Thanks for the tips, CJ

It's pouring down right now, and cool, the temperature is 85. There is some chatter going on abut the weather, and now Wall Street down today. We are not in control. Our hedge of protection has been lifted. They're looking to September 13 for a stock market crash, a Monday. That when the market closes on Friday, 911, another judgement will fall upon America. It's in a biblical cycle of years and festivals. Jonathan Cahn author of the Harbinger has wrote a book called the Shemitah. It's very interesting. I think he's right on the money.

The stock market crashed seven days after nine eleven.

The third-largest single day crash occurred on Sept. 17, 2001, seven years before the subprime crisis would beat the 684-point drop. Trading resumed for the first time following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks – the longest trading pause since the Great Depression. The airline industry suffered the most; weakness in airline stocks would send the Dow Jones Transportation Average down 15% this day. Money Matters.

Psalm 91 NLT (New Living Translation)

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.
Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! 14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

And another question:

Yeah, but only because it was the only way DH was going to accept purple- I found a periwinkle shade- the most purplest blue I could find. It was a sample I saw at Walmart and had Home Depot color match it. Don't remember the brand, but my bedroom kinda looks like a French hotel, very relaxing, and 180 degrees opposite of the granny pink wallpaper that we moved in with! Now if we could only decide on a shade of green for our den. I'm liking a foresty look, he's afraid it will be too dark.
I've tried several different ways and WS isn't letting me upload the pictures, either from my laptop, from Photobucket, Pinterest, or Facebook. Sorry! If I could do it I would.
My bedroom would be closest to Benjamin Moore's Freesia or Blue Pearl I think. We did the Crown Moulding a shade darker, so it looks two-toned and goes together!

Hi Dmacky, Have had a hard time getting in lately. I am so sorry about your furbaby. sounds just like what we had with my Buffy. I know exactly what your going through. I am still crying for my baby. Buffy was fine one day and so sick the next. I cried to God and asked if I haven't given him enough.. Buffy was treated like my child. I even wiped his nose! This puppy is good but will NEVER replace
Buffy or Red...I'm a great one to console you~I'm not any better than you are! Buffy died April 11, I'm still sobbing.....Loveya :seeya:

Love love Co sign mentioned stores. DH.

Zuri, my sisters and I built a "family" cabin in 1993, for all of us to us. Sometimes all together, sometimes just one family. If it's a family weekend, my sister and I make a menu and we know what to bring. We have two refrigerators, and keep condiments and things and it't for what ever we bring. We have a large free standing ice maker for a big weekend. Z1

Maybe if you spoke wit your sister in law about the next time y'all are going to be there and tell her you were thinking of grilling buggers or whatever one night and what you're planning on bringing. One way to start the conversation could be by asking if she knows if there is charcoal for a grill and tell her you plans? You've made a kind effort to help, and are cutting off her saying she's doing all the work and footing the bill.

My sister and I don't know why anyone ie; private industries - melt snow and place in udnerground resovioversand pipe it to drought regions. And flood waters. Think of all the jobs building the pipelines. Much like the Alaskan pipeline. I worked for a company that did a lot of the work on the alarm panels for Alan tic Richfield in the 70's.

I do. I painted my bedroom a dark blue by Ralph Lauren way back in 1999,I painted the woodwork white. It's amazing how each color sets the other off. And the intensity changes during the day as the sun moves to the west. I love it. It doesn't make the room small but large. Of course having five windows help too.

Look at Harbor blue by Ralph Lauren. That is the color my bedroom is. I had them match it to
their paint. Much cheaper and just as good. I'M going with a sage color for my living room ,halls and kitchen. It looks great with white woodwork. Neat clean classy. Anna has decided the little bathroom is going to be black and white with a chandlier and a large mirror instead of a medicine cabinet. I have white wainscoting on the bottom and we'very found a black onyx for the top.
