Yesterday was a wonderful day. Spellbound and I met at the neatest coffee shop in her home town. Which is so lovely and quaint. We chatted and walked around for a good hour and a half. We never missed a beat sharing our lives and of course the board. It was as if we had known each other forever. She is one lovely Lady inside and out. It was such a pleasure and I look forward to seeing her again and posting here as well. She is an absolute delight!!!!

I'm jealous. Of both of you. It would be a pleasure to of met y'all.

Hi all, I must be hiding under a rock! I don't know any of these people except JA.. same for the pot ..Thank God I have never had anyone with a drug problem while alcohol runs rampant in our family.
I shouldn't say that as except for my brother our generation has been pretty Tame. Rumbleing outside! I hope no bad storms but last night said a few. A hint: my uncle attended an Irish funeral where they stood the corpse
up in a corner and played cards near him. '20's...uncle made hooch in the bathtub. seeya:

Oh wow, I can't believe this creep is still walking free. He's still running the JAII site ?
Yes he is, but one faction of her supporters has broken away and are trying to get people to boycott the JAII site because of the way SJ runs it. If you google boycott Jodi Arias and JAII you'll see what I mean. It's quite entertaining to see her support system imploding, especially since she has absolutely no control over any of it anymore. :happydance:

Don't know if I'll read her "new" book. I want to keep my ideas that Atticus was a good man- even if those ideas may be an illusion.

Harper Lee May Have Written A Third Novel, Lawyer Says

"...In an op-ed published by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday, Tonja Carter, the attorney responsible for Lee's estate, says she stumbled across "a stack of a significant number of pages of another typed text" in a safe-deposit box last week -- the same box in which she found what's likely the original script for "To Kill A Mockingbird," and its soon-to-be-released parent novel, "Go Set A Watchman."

"Was it an earlier draft of 'Watchman,' or of 'Mockingbird,' or even, as early correspondence indicates it might be, a third book bridging the two? I don't know," Carter remarked. She says the mystery pages have been handed over to experts for further review..."

David Zink scheduled to die on Tuesday for murder of Amanda Morton

"...Zink is scheduled for lethal injection on Tuesday at the Missouri prison in Bonne Terre. Circuit Judge William Roberts of Clinton, who is now a senior judge, sentenced Zink to death in 2004. Earlier that year, a Lafayette County jury convicted him, in a trial in St. Clair County, of tying Amanda Morton of Strafford to a tree in a rural cemetery northwest of Osceola and snapping her neck before slicing her spinal cord to make sure she would not survive. :(

Hello, Pluto! NASA Spacecraft Makes Historic Dwarf Planet Flyby (with video of pics) :)

"...NASA's New Horizons probe flew by Pluto this morning (July 14), capturing history's first up-close looks at the far-flung world — if all went according to plan. (Mission team members won't declare success until they hear from New Horizons tonight.) Closest approach came at 7:49 a.m. EDT (1149 GMT), when the spacecraft whizzed within 7,800 miles (12,500 kilometers) of Pluto's frigid surface. To celebrate, NASA unveiled the latest photo of Pluto, showing a reddish world with a stunning heart-shaped feature on its face..."

So What Exactly Is Tapioca, Anyway?

"Most of us who've ever had tapioca know it to be the chewy, small pearls found in a bowl of pudding. Or maybe the bigger, still chewy balls floating around in the now-globally-popular sweet Asian bubble teas. But not many of us actually know what these little pearls are -- what they're made of or where they come from. We're going to fix that...."

Okay, I'm creeped out. I was reading the Denise Huskins kidnapping thread and found out that the guy they busted was responsible for a home invasion robbery in my area just one month ago and he assaulted the couple. I was broken into in May. Wondering if it was this creep? Glad we weren't home.

BBM That's a scary thought indeed. :scared:

For those who were offended by my comment of Steven Tyler 'screaming'...my apologies to you. Everyone has their own taste in music and that is a good thing :)

Might as well admit that I was never a Beatles or Elvis fan :shame: :hills:

My taste in music is far and wide :) My first love of music is Gospel, then I adore Doo Wop Music, Old Country like Pasty Cline, Kenny Rodgers and so on (not a Dolly fan either) The 60's era is fantastic!! Really like Journey, Duran Duran, Queen, Cher, Abba, The Dog Night, Doobie Brothers...

BBM I don't think anyone was offended, IMO. We're not too sensitive on the Sidebar and expect/respect that people
have different tastes, so don't worry.

Morning all!

Glad to hear everyone is safe from the storms back east!! :skip: Just saw on the CNN scroll, there is one man dead and 11 missing in Kentucky! :scared: Too bad you all can't send US some rain here on the left coast!

Going to run some errands later today. The kittens need to get there shots, and I've found one place that charges $10 per shot (3 each) and a $5 office call. I'm going to run down to Incredible Pets store, as they have a clinic every Saturday, so will check out their prices. $65 for shots doesn't sound too bad... hopefully, will find something cheaper!!
And than there is a Neuter/Spay place that as discount prices for "us" poor people in the county. Wonder why they don't have discount vaccination shots too?? :waitasec: At least we'll save some $$ on that procedure!

Another sunny day here! :summer: but at least the nights now are down in the high 50s, low 60s! Hate HOT during the night! :tantrum:

Now this is a weird item (see below) being sold in my National Enquirer!??!! He is called "Greyson". :ufo:

Okay - off to catch up on the closing of the Holmes trial... :pcguru:

Later everyone!! :seeya:

BBM What is that??? a doll of some sort???

Ummm, Journey, Duran Duran, Abba, The Doobie Brothers and Three Dog Night are not the 60's era, Journey and Duran Duran are the 80's, the others are the 70's... Just sayin'. I just started a DePeche Mode station on Pandora radio.

Good morning all, though it's almost noon here, Got out and weeded one of my flower beds this morning and it was already hot. Getting up to the mid or high 90's this week, so the dog days of summer are finally here. Going to go back and read, but wondering how my northern friends are faring in the stormy weather. Hope all is well.

Well that's all the world needs is for it to be even more concentrated. We have a friend who is a pot smoker, but I don't know if we'll be seeing him anymore. We let him know the last time we saw him that it changes his personality to the point that he is no longer himself ... i.e., makes him mouthy, rude, and very disrespectful, the worst part though was the paranoia. :shakehead: It didn't used to be that bad, he was tolerable before, not paranoid like that. Thus wondering if he got a bad batch, or was it just stronger. But he was smoking it in this weird looking little pipe thingy I had never seen before, so now I'm wondering if it was that stuff you're talking about. :tsktsk:

Uh Neesaki, he might not be smoking pot. Sounds more like meth or crack. I heard on the radio yesterday that there is a "new" drug from China that right now is legal, and it is dangerous and wq11qthey keep tinkering with the formula each time it's been ruled illegal . I think it was called Quix(?) Or something like that.

Pot smokers tend to be more mellow and not wired or paronoid.

Yeah, I got really freaked out when I read about the home invasion he committed in my city, just one month after our break in. I am very proud of my PD though, sounds like they were the ones to catch him, or at least alert the FBI.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Disheartening, perhaps her writing of Mockingbird was more idealized than the original Watchman. Still, the Atticus we know is who he is to us, who she created him to be. She should never have published Watchman if she wasn't going to keep his character the same. I don't buy some of the reviewers view that Atticus in Mockingbird was racist, not at all. I've read the book several times and seen the movie several times. This is nothing more than racist propaganda and a bunch of hogwash, just like much of the BS going on in our country right now. Politically motivated and there's reverse racism going on as well, as always. I'm pretty sick of it all so more or less refuse to listen to or watch news anymore.

I never was sure I wanted to read Lee's new book, now I know I probably won't. She created the original Atticus, then re-wrote him as a completely different person, the one we all grew to know and love. She must need money or something, maybe she's senile, still, what was the motivation to publish Watchman with a totally different Atticus? :tsktsk:

Pot smokers tend to be more mellow and not wired or paronoid.

Marjuana can be smoked in paper (like a cigarette) or in a "pipe". Usually they do tend to be more mellow, but I think some are affected differently. We have one relative who basically chain smoked marijuana and was overly paranoid .... "no one liked him, he was always wrong, they always blamed him" , he was quick to get have hurt feelings or get mad, etc. was a prominent theme. Actually, Neesaki, he sounds exactly like your friend!). When he quit, it took a long time, but the paranoias seem to have disappeared. So I do believe it was exaggerated by his smoking. However, I think there were some other internal issues (depression) that probably added to it.

According to to this study, there is a correlation to marijuana and paranoia:
