Never in my wildest dreams would I think of doing this to someone else They feel so entitled to other people's stuff without having to work for it, despite how hard the victim might have worked for it or the sentimental value. Websleuths has gone berserk today? My pages are overblown and a different color and style. I can click on the video option in a post ,and it keeps coming up as just a link, not the video. I have also been trying to take Lily's photo off and it won't let do that either.

  • #585
Did you remove Lily's photo. ow, Pages? I am not seeing it. Wonder if a setting got changed for you to cause the weirdness. I really don't know, mine has been OK today.

Yes there are still some true heroes.
A firefighter and former Marine took down an armed robber with his bare hands, and it was all recorded by a surveillance camera at a Midlothian, Texas gas station. And now, Daniel Gaskey is being hailed as a hero.

I just will never get it. The men do anything they want, while the women are treated more or less like their slaves, and required to wear coverings and drapes over their heads. What are they doing over here? Why do they want to be here, hmmmm ? And the biggest question, why are we allowing them to be here, as though they can be trusted. They can never be trusted, they will always be a danger and threat to Americans because they hate us. The bolded in the quote above, how ridiculous, a "decision"? Really! :what: I am sick to death of people trying to gloss over this... they have nothing but evil in their hearts, souls, and minds. They are Terrorists and should be treated as such. I'd better stop now... :censored:

BBM I haven't read any updates yet, but since the authorities don't know if Abdulazeez was acting as a "terrorist" (as the Boston Bombers did) or was just a "nut" (as the Colorodo theatre shooter), I can't assume that it was a terrorist shooting yet, but I do understand what you are saying Neesaki. :therethere: It's very frustrating that people are dying for "causes" that make no sense to us.

AND- how do you tell the ISIS terrorists from a Muslim who is not ISIS?

(Update: CNN - Homeland Security Chairman calls attack "ISIS-Inspired" 5:21 PM)
----------------------------------

The article you posted stated :

"The FBI confirmed 24-year-old Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez was the shooter who opened fire on a military recruiting center and reserve center in Chattanooga on Thursday morning....

Abdulazeez was born in Kuwait and had Jordanian citizenship before becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen, officials said...

Officials don't yet have a motive for the shooting...

Multiple people who say they went to high school with Abdulazeez sent the Times Free Press photos of what appears to be his senior picture and quote in his high school yearbook.

"My name causes national security alerts," his quote reads. "What does yours do?"...

"Authorities have not determined whether it was an act of terrorism or whether it was a criminal act," Reinhold said. "We are looking at every possible avenue, whether it was terrorism - whether it was domestic, international - or whether it was a simple, criminal act."..

-----------------------------------------

I pulled this excellent article that I had previously posted on the Boston Bombing thread (I learned some things about terrorists while posting the tweets):

Why Teens Become Terrorists and What Schools Can Do

"...According to Russell Razzaque, a London-based psychiatrist, there are particular experiences shared by teenagers who participate in terrorist activities. He argues most teenage "suicide bombers lacked a close intimate relationship, particularly with their same-sex parent." In addition, immigrant youngsters from minority racial, ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups often are disconnected from the broader society where they live. While all teenagers are in some stage of rebellion against parental and social authority, the experiences of young people from Islamic immigrant families living in Europe may make them especially susceptible to radical appeals and vulnerable to ideologues who charge that they and their compatriots are victims of unjust social institutions and religious prejudice by the majority population...
An article in The Christian Science Monitor argued that groups like ISIS have been successful in recruiting young people from Western countries "who are disillusioned and have no sense of purpose or belonging" through an "appeal to sense of identity and place." The article compared ISIS to youth or criminal gangs that offer "disaffected teens a chance to join a group that gives them purpose and meaning." This sense of belonging has special meaning to young people who drifted away from belief or were recent converts to Islam...."

Why is ISIS so successful at luring Westerners?

Why Do People Join ISIS? The Psychology Of A Terrorist

The male warrior phenomenon

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blo...al-reason-why-young-muslim-men-join-the-jihad

Huge numbers of Muslims are turning to ISIS because they want SEX, claims former Islamist, who says many resent the freedoms Western youths have.

"A former Islamist said he believes young British Muslim men are joining ISIS because they want sex. :sheesh:

I know that most people know that not all Muslims are ISIS. Some Muslims came/come to America for the same reasons that my father and mother came, even when they carry their traditions from their homeland with them, my parents considered themselves Americans (saying that Muslims, who look different and dress different, are ISIS terrorists is just like stating that all Italians are mobsters and belong to the Mafia or that my grandmother, who dressed completely in black for the rest of her life because my grandfather died, is not acceptable in order to be an American citizen, IMO).

'Deviant and Pathological': What Do ISIS Extremists Really Want?

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/is...l-what-do-isis-extremists-really-want-n194136

One more excellent article about what ISIS wants:

What ISIS Really Wants

"The Islamic State is no mere collection of psychopaths. It is a religious group with carefully considered beliefs, among them that it is a key agent of the coming apocalypse. Here’s what that means for its strategy—and for how to stop it....

We can gather that their state rejects peace as a matter of principle; that it hungers for genocide; that its religious views make it constitutionally incapable of certain types of change, even if that change might ensure its survival; and that it considers itself a harbinger of—and headline player in—the imminent end of the world...."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some may not want to understand what these terrorists want, but if you don't understand, how can you defeat them?
Terrorism is a problem for the whole world, IMO. I just don't know how these misguided individuals are going to be irradicated. I hope some nations will figure it out and stop this madness- sooner-rather-than-later.

Terrorism scares me and I worry for my children's future in a world that seems to have gone mad, so I have studied the terrorists, in depth. :scared:

Hey all!

coffeejunkie - my Huz too just got a prescription for Spirva - he LOVES it!! He couldn't believe he could breathe so good!! :happydance:

re Seaweed - I heard on the news the other day that they (whoever "they" is) found/discovered seaweed that tastes like bacon off the coast of Oregon or was it Washington (?) !! I'll pass...

Chelly - me too! I drink ice water (with ice cubes) all day long!!!

Well - the Huz FINALLY got an appointment with the local clinic for his back pain!! :gaah: it has taken so long for them to squeeze him in. I don't think he's going to see his "regular" doctor, but he really doesn't care. Our roommate gave him some pills last night that REALLY helped his back pain. It was Tramadol (50mg) and Brelotin (10mg x 2). He's going to try and get a referral to see an orthopedic back specialist! Everyone probably knows about "referrals", right? another :gaah: So hoping they get the ball rolling, as he hasn't been able to cook for the last 5 days... fast food for me... another :gaah:

My parents would have been married 72 years today!! Happy Anniversary to my Mamma and Tete. :confetti:
Here's a picture they took at their 50th anniversary in Riga, Latvia where they were married. It is the first time in 49 years that my father was back in his homeland!

Have a GREAT Friday everyone! :seeya:

What a handsome couple your parents made. Thanks for posting such personal pics- I really enjoy them. :blowkiss:

I decided to walk into my local PD since I was right there to inquire about my burglary. Talked to a woman at the front desk who looked up my case number and told me they closed my case because there are no leads... So someone got away with the perfect crime. I hate thieves!!! Never in my wildest dreams would I think of doing this to someone else They feel so entitled to other people's stuff without having to work for it, despite how hard the victim might have worked for it or the sentimental value. The mindset is- Insurance will pay for it. Well, the reality is insurance will never pay for the whole cost, and you can't put a price on jewelry that's been inherited!!! I'm still so upset about losing my mother's jewelry, and I'm still living a bit longer with a plywood door- it's been over 2 months!!! Sorry for the rant.

So sorry Linas that you have lost your mother's jewelry. :therethere:

A Rare Glimpse into Life at Home With Lucille Ball :)
TV's favorite redhead had quite the stylish space (and some surprising hobbies).

http://www.housebeautiful.com/design-inspiration/celebrity-homes/a3983/lucille-ball-home/

I don't know how much work was done to prepare for the photoshoot at their house, but the Ricardos certainly look stylish in and around their home. I wonder if that was the ranch-style home they owned in Chatsworth before they divorced?

Looking at the color photos did make me think of something, though. I know her fame came later in her career after a brief, unspectacular film career in the 40's so I wonder if her red hair is a product of hair dye to hide any grey hair? I've seen one or two movies she was in but of course it's all but impossible to determine hair color from a black & white movie (although her hair color *does* look darker in the 40's movies and a bit lighter on her 50's tv show). Not sure if that difference was just the set lighting between movie and tv sets or hair color. Anyway... of all the color photographs I've ever seen of her, she's always had red hair. I just wondered if she colored her hair red like so many other people seem to do when they begin to go grey. To me she looks like a brunette in her 40's movies. Maybe she was an auburn brunette and colored it a lighter shade of red later in life? Oh well... either way, at least she didn't have Clairol light blue hair. :D
