Hi , Let me know what Ezekele (sp) has to say when he is 74.5 ROFLMAO..I am 83 I still enjoy life to a certain extent. There is watching my grt.grandson grow up. He's 15,g oing into 10 th grade Who knows I may make graduation. I am one who sooo enjoyed raising a child. Gods Gift! Maybe this man is too engrossed in his work to enjoy life on the side. I think of my son. He was the world to a mom who was raised with next to nothing. I loved him beyond words~now his grandson and his daughter. They (and Johnny) are my reason to live a bit more. I'm sure many here feel just as I do. Only bad part is it gets boring sometimes. Now if I had a car,,, Juan and I could have had fried chicken (the Colonel) tonight for supper. Mom and Dad went to drive in .......:loveyou:...... words are starting to skip! I'm outta hre.

I think everyone has had enough of Clinton/Bush. This is not a monarchy.
Given that all these politicians have thrown in their hats way too early, as far as I'm concerned, it gives more time for them to be discredited, or just become down right boring with the same old ideas that never accomplish anything.

I hope Joe waits a while, just to keep people guessing. I think he'd give Hilary a good run for her money.
Right now all I really see as far as presidential candidates is "fools and their money". Wouldn't it be something if all that campaign funding was put somewhere that REALLY contributed to our Nation? How about taking a chunk out of the National debt? Funding for schools and school programs, a better VA system for our vets, the infrastructure, roads, bridges, dams and the like, mental health care.......the possibilities are endless.

It would really be nice if the US ran the electoral process like England. I believe it's 6-8 weeks of campaigning, no funding, and the election.
Money doesn't make someone worthy of the Presidency.

I'm with ya! Couldn't agree more!

Oh Niner, my heart goes out to you and your poor husband. It sounds like he's going through a really tough time.

I think we can all kind of relate to what he's feeling. Hasn't everyone at some point been so sick or injured that you just want to throw in the towel? It's so easy to forget that those are temporary states of reality; it can feel as though your life has been permanently redefined against your will. When everything is going fine, it's easy to live in the present, and also mentally project into the future. But when you feel like crap, the present seems inescapable and the future feels nonexistent.

I hope you can cheer him up with talk about plans for what you can do together once this :temporary: situation is resolved. Give him something to look forward to. Anything to get his mind off what he's going through at this moment. Or maybe even some funny pet videos (always a good Rx, IMO).

He seems like a truly wonderful guy, so I am wishing him a speedy recovery, and both of you a long and happy future together. :)

BBM. Dog-shaming.com has really funny dog pictures. I just found a really funny video of Labs doing silly things on Facebook.
Adorable Animals's video.

Don't even get me started on how effed up the Electoral College system is. Our national elections are decided by a handful of people in Ohio, Florida and a few other states? So outdated and not representative of the consensus of the people... JMO

We have all heard the cliched expression that “eyes are the window to the soul,” but now it appears that science can help back that it up!

We’ve all seen various personality tests that tell us a little about our fortune and personality like this one that says the door you choose reveals secrets about your soul, but our eyes are an actual physical part of us and can tell us even more.

Scientists at Orebro University in Sweden studied 428 subjects to see if their personalities were linked to the irises in their eye. They found that our eye color is affected by the same genes that form our frontal lobes, thus there are distinctly shared behaviors in people with similar irises.

Dr. Anthony Fallone of Edinburgh University has studied the links between eyes and personality as well. He says, “The eye is so closely linked neurologically to the brain that you might call it the only part of our brain you can see from the outside. It seems to hold vital clues to our brain function.”

To see what your eye color says about you clink on the link:

Not able to work too much this week with this back (sciatica) problem, and I swear I can see the darned dust bunnies multiplying before my eyes. :shame:. grrrr

Halpy Sunday! Be well, everyone.

Hey all!

snipped quote:
BBM

I don't think he really wants to die, IMO- he just wants to stop hurting and the pain has become unbearable; life is hopeless at this time for him, and he thinks this period of pain in his life will never end or never change. I'm not saying you shouldn't be concerned- take it seriously as a warning and talk to him about it some more. Talk about all the alternatives to his dying- the medical help he will receive; tell him that he may not believe it now, but the way he's feeling will change when the pain is in control. Let him talk about his pain and feelings so he feels less alone- even if you have heard all of it before. Reassure him that help is available and that the suicidal feelings are temporary and let him know that his life is important to you- try to restore hope in him in any way you can. Ask him "If we got your pain under control, would you still feel this way?" .

True, YESorNO - I don't believe he really wants to die, but as you say the pain is REALLY unbearable. He can hardly walk for the last couple of days - he's using my cane to get around! His doctor didn't give him much encouragement, but did give him perocet (sp?) for his pain, but he only takes those at night so he can sleep, otherwise he takes ibufrophene (sp?) during the day... he hates to take narcotics! He'll be calling the physical therapy place tomorrow, as that is the only way a back doctor will see him. I will ask him that last question (bold).

Maybe you can ask him to teach you how to cook as a distraction, so you don't have to have take-out all the time. It might be a funny adventure for him and for you too.

LOL! He already has started with that! I just can't cook! but trying! I can boil water really good!

Pain is a terrible thing and just drags a person to the lower depths of life. In addition to the pain meds the MD has given him, maybe he needs anti- depressant meds also for his depression until he 's feeling better? If he is taking depression meds already, maybe they need to be adjusted/changed?

Most definitely it's the pain... and no, he doesn't take depression meds. He has always been a happy go-lucky kind of guy! But now with all this pain, and not being able to do every day things has really gotten him down, as expected!

He needs effective pain management first and foremost. There are healthcare professionals that just specialize in pain. The stress of his pain is triggering his depression, IMO, and the hopelessness that results from it can be treated with the right meds.

That's what I'm hoping for - effective pain management!

Oh, Niner, I feel for you. Please take care. It would be tragic if he made a permanent decision about a temporary problem that could be treated, IMO.

Tell your husband that I said: the dead look terribly dead when they're dead (and that's "from scratch :) ).

BTW: why is he not able to hold down his food? too much pain???

:therethere:

:blowkiss:

re bold - I don't know why he can't keep his food down. In the mornings he has dry heaves, so he drinks some water, so at least something comes up. He hasn't eaten too much - as he says he can't taste the food and it just all tastes bland and yucky!

:tyou: so much YESorNO for this post! :luv:

Okay - my Thanks button is going screwing again - what else is new!?! So, I did :gthank: all the posts!

Okay - better post this, as I have Skype with my brother and sisters at 11am!!

Later! :seeya:

Hang in there, Niner. It gets tough when our spouse feels so down. You are such a good person. He is lucky to have you. Now about that boiled water .... even I can ruin that. I have a couple burnt pans to prove it.

I have a lot to learn obviously.

Niner, I am so sorry your husband is not feeling well. Percocet also makes a lot of people extremely nauseous, so he may be battling things on several fronts.

Bernina, so glad Zuri is doing well with her irrigations. So much fun isn't it. I will ask DH about your foot. Hope it is feeling better. Having had a horse with a similar injury, it takes awhile, but usually have good results. Keeping it clean seemed to be a full time job as my daughter had to do it twice a day due to wound location.

Loved your all's thoughts on Joe running for POTUS. It will be interesting to see if he does run. The Clinton Machine is formidable, but Obama beat it once, so who knows. Without Beau being a part of the campaign, I just don't know if he will.

http://www.drf.com/news/american-pharoah-thrills-dominant-haskell-victory

American Pharoah won the Haskell today at Monmouth Park, NJ. This was a prep race for the Breeder's Cup in November. The Haskell race was named after my friend's grandfather which is kinda cool as she is pretty humble. I asked her once if there was any relation and uh, yeah. American Pharoah hardly broke a sweat and beat the other horses handily without ever being given his head to run. Basically he was ridden in a very collected hand gallop, reminiscent of an early morning warm up.

There was no point in running him full out if AP is going to the Travers Stakes next I guess. Still an amazing animal to watch!

I have light gray eyes which are rare per the article. They turn more blue if I'm wearing blue (different shades) and now I know for sure they are gray. LOL
