17-Year-Old Self-Taught Mexican Artist Creates Stunning Watercolors And Pencil Drawings

Dany Lizeth, a creative and talented 17-year-old in Mexico, creates expertly detailed and beautifully colorful drawings of animals and people using watercolors and colored pencils. What’s even more impressive than her amazing talent at such a young age, however, is that she taught herself how to draw this well!

27 HOUSEHOLD USES FOR (USED) COFFEE GROUNDS

1. Skip the toxic abrasive cleaners for pots and pans and use a handful of coffee grounds instead.

2. Scour (non-porcelain) sinks with coffee grounds.

3. Clean old food off of dishes. Be aware not to use coffee grounds on materials that might be absorbent or porous so that you don’t end up with brown stains.

4. Scrub your grill or electric griddle.

5. Coffee grounds can also be used as a deodorizer. Place grounds in a jar or dish to absorb odors from refrigerators and freezers.

6. Leave a dish of coffee grounds out to absorb odors in rooms that have an unpleasant odor.

7. Deodorize a car that may have had one too many fast-food items left in it.

8. Place a layer of grounds in your ashtrays to greatly reduce the stench of old cigarette butts.

9. Rub on hands to remove food prep odors.

10. Use wet grounds when cleaning your fire place or wood stove to keep the dust and ash from flying. You could also use wet grounds for the same purpose in a pellet stove, but take care to not allow the burn pot to get clogged, so I would use very sparingly in this case.

11. Use coffee grounds for natural ant control. Place dried grounds in the areas ants frequent. The smell is a deterrent.

12. Dye paper, fabrics, or other porous materials with a strong coffee solution.

13. Cover up scratches in furniture. Dab a strong solution of coffee onto the scratch. Naturally, this works best on darker woods.

Uses for coffee in the garden

14. Use coffee grounds as a non-toxic, fully degradable fertilizer. Coffee grounds are a good source of nitrogen, calcium, magnesium, potassium and other trace minerals. While you need to be aware that not all plants love coffee, such as tomatoes, most are enriched by the added nutrients.

15. Coffee grounds are an excellent nutritional addition to compost.

16. Use as a non-toxic bug repellant. Use a solution of coffee to spray your plants. The smell is too strong for most bugs. You’ll need to re-apply after a rain.

17. Use coffee grounds to keep cats from digging and pooping in your garden. Not only are cat feces bad for your plants, I personally hate the experience of accidentally scooping some up with my hands while gardening.

18. Use coffee grounds to deter slugs and snails. Both the smell and the abrasive surface help keep these pests out of the garden.

19. Coffee can add nutrients to acid-loving plants such as azaleas and roses. Simply pour any left-over coffee around the base of the plant. Hometalk, a home improvement social network, member John H. of Clermont, FL said, "Coffee is acidic. Roses flourish in soil with a pH around 6.5. Adding coffee will raise the pH."

20. Kill ants outdoors too. Just place grounds on the hills.

A word on worms: they love coffee as much as we do. Theory suggests that besides the caffeine, the bacterium that grows on the many-sided grounds is not only a food source, but adds grit to their digestive system allowing them to digest better. Coffee-eating worms reproduce faster, which is great for oxygenating our gardens and compost. So, in terms of worms, you can:

21. Work grounds into the soil.

22. Place grounds into your compost.

23. Mix grounds and soil to help keep fishing bait alive longer.

24. Put your bait worms in moist coffee grounds helps to mask human odor.

Uses for coffee as a beauty aid

25. Rub grounds through hair and rinse to add softness and shine.

26. Add highlights to brown hair by soaking in coffee.

27. Use grounds as a facial scrub or mask.

I am still pretty far behind reading ALL the posts, so forgive me if this has already been posted and talked about. I saw this on the news while I was out of town and it broke my heart!

Remember the Giraffe baby that we got to see (live streamed) being born? She broke her neck in a freak accident and has died :frown:

I'm back home again, and I don't know how I would have gotten through the month of July without my cousin and my sister < who had flown in from another state to attend my youngest daughters wedding.
Bless her heart, she had purchased her airline ticket in May and had EVEN taken off an extra week from work before (the wedding) to help me with the wedding that never even happened.

And THEN after the wedding was cancelled, :frown:
I had to put my SO VERY LOVED :heartbeat: furbaby :heartbeat: down on July 2, and even to this day I am still so emotionally distraught.
My cousin rescued me on July 3 and I stayed with her until the 8th. She kept me very busy with a lot of "adventures" she had planned for us to do. She did her best to keep me distracted from my sadness.

Then on July 11th my favorite sister flew in. She has the best sense of humor of anyone I have ever met, and we laughed like little most of time she was here.
We had lost our mom :frown: in 2012 and my dad in 2013, so us girls decided to let my brother just stay there and live. He has had so many heath issues and he has lived there all of his life.

ANYWAY,
We all stayed there at our childhood home form July 11-25. Thanks goodness, one of our cousins got married on July 24th, so my sister could still wear the beautiful dress she had bought for my daughters wedding!

After I took her to airport on the 25th, I knew I had to go home. I hate it here!!! I still look for Mac everywhere :crying: I finally took her basket of toys off the fireplace and put them in my spare bedroom closet. I can't for the life of me take her bed out of the LR yet. She usually slept on the loveseat during the day anyway, but it was very sad to take it to my youngest daughters house... who has nothing in her living room  (remember, her fiancée took the couch because his "grandmother gave them the money for it") :gaah: So he came and took it the very next day, plus the kitchen table and chairs that somebody in his family had stored in their GARAGE. <modsnip>

I don't know where the hell they are going to put them, his parents house is fully furnished and the couch he took is no where near the quality of their leather sofa'S they already have. this I'm sure was mommies request. And there's NO chance in hell that he's moving out of mommy's house, because my daughter had told me that he ACTUALLY cried real TEARS when he moved into "their house" and said It's gonna be so hard to not see my mother everyday...I said "HINT HINT run Lexi run"!!!!! oh well another story, another day.

Then I went back to my cousins on July 27th and stayed with her until Aug. 2. She lives in Elizabethtown KY, and it's only a half and hour away from Bardstown Ky, where Crystal Rogers lived and is missing. We went there one day to help with the search. It is sooo very sad, and I can't EVEN imagine if one of my girls were missing.

Then we went to LaGrange Ky. were we saw on the news that Hallmark was filming the movie called "The Ultimate Legacy" which was starring Raquel Welch and Brian Dennehy! Of course we couldn't find them but we went to a coffee shop there and they told us that they had actually filmed right there in "Coffee Roasters" the week before.

Well, I'm finally finished with my book post that I have written. If you've read it all, then bless you...If you haven't, then I don't blame you

It's just so hard to be in this house without my sweet baby girl :frown:

This song really seems to help me. I've listened to it countless times. It doesn't matter if you're religious or not. It's still a beautiful song.

"Every time Microsoft releases a new version of Windows, its servers get slammed. To help alleviate this burden, Windows 10 can download updates from other users’ computers. The problem is, it can use up your bandwidth and data caps to do so."

This is mainly a concern for those with ISPs with data caps or bandwidth throttles. Here's how to turn it off: Windows 10 Uses Your Bandwidth to Distribute Updates, Disable It Here

ETA:

"But there’s something you should know: As you read this article from your newly upgraded PC, Windows 10 is also spying on nearly everything you do."

Windows 10 is spying on almost everything you do – here’s how to opt out

Dmacky, I'm so very sorry about your precious furbaby and all the other issues you've been dealing with. Whoever said life wasn't fair wasn't far off the mark.

I had to put my precious furbaby down last Oct. She was 18 years old. It was just she and I for many of those 18 yrs. All of her stuff is still in it's place as I just can't bear to part with it yet - not sure if I ever will be.

Friends keep trying to convince me to get another puppy. I've told each and everyone it wouldn't be fair as I'd expect that puppy to act/behave like Riley did. Time will tell, but it will certainly be a significant amount of time before I could even consider this.

Thoughts and prayers sent your way. (((())))

I love your dark wood cabinets. I want to paint mine that dark. When we moved here the old ones were black, but odd sized, and I wished I'd kept them. Are going to do your backsplash in the glass tiles to match the counters? Gosh I wonder if our kitchen are going to be similar? I didn't like the island and took it out. We had a small breakfast room next to the kitchen and tore down the wall and put the washer dryer and hot water heater on one wall with bifdoors and it opened the kitchen up to 22 feet x 12. I have a large amount of counter space. It was nice years ago, but now holds an amazing amount of clutter.

Any new puppy-even the same breed will have a completely different personality. Dogs run the gamut from shy, timid to outgoing and goofy. And then there's the obedient type and the ones who act like F-U, was that a suggestion, or a command?? (I didn't hear you). A suggestion might be to change breeds when you decide to get a new dog. 18 mo. was the longest I could stand being dogless. I've had dogs all my life.( I just warned my daughter when she was a toddler that dogs don't live as long as humans and that she would have more than one dog in her lifetime). I went from a Springer Spaniel who hated a fire in the fireplace, but wouldn't hesitate to jump in the pool, and would fling her water bowl at you, to a big Lab who loves being right in front of the fireplace, has to go down the steps to get into the pool (she's too dainty and afraid to jump in), and won't let you know when her water bowl is empty.

We got the walls of the den painted Jade Mountain Green yesterday!!!:skip::skip::skip:I'm really happy with it. The woman at Home Depot offered me more paint choices and I started second guessing myself. Went with Eggshell over Satin, and it still has a sheen, so it's fine and we went up a grade in quality of paint. It's kind of a minty green, but it can still evoke foresty. I think I should call it Erebor from Lord of the Rings. I'm exhausted today. We painted 'till 11p.m. last night, but I got pizza! Still not finished, it may take a few more weekends to do everything else, and DD has some singing shows coming up on the weekends. Here's what DH wants to finish: painting the new baseboards (yet to be bought), we'll go with the next darker shade of green, paint the door, the window sill, the vent, and the trim for the attic ladder. Change the two remaining two-prong outlets ( he has to have the burglar alarm taken offline again to do that, but he was too tired yesterday to squeeze that in. He change all the others but those two years ago. Don't know why he didn't do those two, and he needs light to do it. Change the torn window screen. Tear out the carpet and clean up the hardwood floors underneath. Maybe purchase some rugs, and finally spray paint his ugly old gold lamp that he's attached to. Then we can move the furniture back in. Oh, and he needs to go under the house one more time for an unrelated reason, so I can't put stuff back in the Black Hole closet yet...
We'll still have to paint the new French doors in the family room. They are only primed, And we never finished the Planter Box outside or pulling out the hedge I call George Bush. But DH is already suggested we pull out the ugly beige wallpaper that runs through the hallway and foyer. So maybe next March when DD is away again???
She's better, just tiredness today, but starts two intensive weeks of Band Camp before school starts ( the real deal) tomorrow, so we need to hit the market and I need to set up the school meeting regarding her ongoing knee problems and P.E. for next year. Wish me luck!
